10 Nov 2016 22:25:52
I would not lose any sleep if Foderingham, Tavernier, Waghorn and McKay left in the January window, and at the end of the day, if MW decided he is out of his depth, well so mote it be.

10 Nov 2016 23:22:50
I'd miss Tav massively. The boy isn't a defender he is however a great right mid. I'd hate for him to go. Mckay has potential, he has hit a period of bad form is all. Foderingham I personally really like, he is still young for a keeper and will become very good. Waghorn can go.

11 Nov 2016 00:36:31
Tavernier would be missed. He is improving defensively and he is excellent as a wing back. I would expect David Weir to do more with the defence than we are seeing and I would ask the question of what is he doing at Rangers. Given that he is a "Rangers man", I would have expected more fight, more leadership and better defending! I am not sure about McKay, he looked good in the Championship but hasn't shown the same quality so far in the Premiership. Of course the same could be said about most players!

11 Nov 2016 02:55:21
I think Tav had been making big improvements in defence, his attacking ability is good and if he can balance the two; like he has in a couple of games I think he will be a stand out in our squad.

Mckay was great last year, confident and positive. This season he literally goes backwards or sideways!

I don't know if it's a drop in form or he hasn't got what it takes to take on the teams we are against this year?

TOMUSA, I agree about Weir and I am confused as to how he isn't red faced most weeks with the defending.

I would hope he is at the very least trying to teach them how to defend set pieces!

11 Nov 2016 08:29:38
I think people are listening to the media far too much regarding our defence. they aren't the best but certainly not that bad. waghorn I can understand but tavernier has grown massively as a player, foderingham is a descent goalkeeper and mckay is 21 years old. I suppose we could get rid of them and sign campy bell, kirk broadfoot and jon daily.

11 Nov 2016 09:12:07
All good points lads and I agree with quite a few of the comments. In particular, Tavernier, but to get the best out of him, and Wallace, we should adopt 3 at the back, giving them more freedom to move forward, with the assurance of the additional cover at the back. I'd play 2 up front and the other 3 in midfield in positions, depending on opposition and the flow of the game.
With Barton gone, doubts about Rossiter's fitness and no real dominant midfielder we must get a gaffer in there.
I think we must give Dodoo and O'Halloran sustained game time, with Garner given the rest of the season to prove himself.
The goalkeeper is a bombscare and must be a nightmare to play in front of.
Crooks must also be given a chance to shine, but we still need a bit of class in mid-field so that is where I would concentrate my efforts.
So, as we have no cash, Waghorn and McKay could bring in enough to enable us to sign a couple of players.
My opinion lads, but Cee, my name is billyb not AllyMac. [with reference to your signings. ].

11 Nov 2016 09:39:33
Billyb, i have said on here quite a few times now that i would like warburton to adopt a 4-2-3-1 formation! But i agree with you in the sense of a 3-5-2 which i also like and in stuart mccall's short reign as our manager, he played it and it worked very well for him.

The win at easter road springs to mind, that day our 2 wing backs in our midfield 5, were superb, ie. darren mcgregor and lee wallace. I rate warbs but to keep hold of the rangers manager's job for the longer term, he must be prepared to change formations at times, in order to win games! He'll need to come away from this stubbornness! Thoughts?

11 Nov 2016 11:51:31
I have said it till i am blue in the face but we will not see the best of young mckay untill he is played on the right side.

11 Nov 2016 13:39:58
McKay is a young boy and will be worth millions in a few years he has everything but I agree he is being played on the wrong side which forces him to cut back all the time . also believe he has been told to cut cack all the time which doesn't help him at all.
tav is one of our best players and has been a lot better at rb this year than Wallace has at lb IMO.

to say you would be happy to see the back of them is ridiculous who would you have who would be left in our team to fill these positions and who would be worth the money they are worth or will be worth no one so please stop talkin a load of nonsense.
seriously on this site I know a few people that can p*ss me off more than ma best mate who supports the darkside.
its soo annoying when fellow bears give our team more abuse than most of the t*ms do.

11 Nov 2016 13:40:07
I agree Cee, yes at start of the season our defence had deficiencies but we have improved since then. Our problem now is lack of goals. You only have to look at the league table and compare the number of goals we conceded and number of goals we scored with the other teams, to see this is the case.

11 Nov 2016 14:32:53
billy i don't think m w is out of his depth i think he has a one track mind and can't change his tactics basically i think that was his problem at brentford he also appears not to take any advice from anyone i also rodgers having his tuppence worth on mad joey he should wynd his neck in because he has enough problems in the past and in the future.

11 Nov 2016 14:53:41
James, I did not say I would be happy, I said I would not lose any sleep, because we could do much better by selling them and bring in a couple of players to supplement our midfield, to enable us to strenghthen the team both defensively and as an attacking force.
Tavernier would be the exception, as he would be a great asset if we played 3 at the back.

11 Nov 2016 16:59:42
Clint Hill has turned out to be a decent signing imo he isn't davie weir but he's not as bad as pundits make us believe we need to start scoring goals.

11 Nov 2016 19:19:15
It's funny how we can all watch the same game and draw different opinions. I personally think Tav's a great modern day RB. Big Fod is bomb scare but he's a good shot stopper. Wee Baz is off the boil and lacking confidence but he was outstanding last season so he's earned loyalty. As for Waghorn, his hearts not in it anymore.

10 Nov 2016 20:07:34
You know what folks, love him or hate him, JB left us with the immortal prophecy of, 'I'm going to be the best midfielder in Scotland'.

It still brings a smile to my coupon, and will for many years to come.

What a balloon.

11 Nov 2016 13:41:45
wouldn't be the best midfielder in the clyde team never mind the rest of scotland.

10 Nov 2016 17:23:39
Cee- i mentioned problems, NOT suggestions.

10 Nov 2016 16:13:27
Well it's now official over with regards to Barton with a short statement and no further comment but where is the transparency King and co promised?

10 Nov 2016 21:39:31
Part of the pay off is a confidentiality clause by both sides you can't just disclose that's the law.

11 Nov 2016 14:04:55
the transparency that they where talking about is the running of the club and where our money is going nothing to do with letting people know about disciplinary matters!

10 Nov 2016 14:33:57
Dont want to let any go Waggie cheesed off but got to show more. Jerseys have to be earned. Barton could have turned good his style is whatcwe need HARD AS . Kranjar good for next season . Lots of Gers guys out there to play in that position. Charlie A for one. with only a yearbor two left in em. Create the example for you rangers to follow.

10 Nov 2016 14:56:56
The only thing hard about Barton was his book covers mate.

10 Nov 2016 15:40:10
Hard as! Haha brilliant!

10 Nov 2016 15:46:24
When you say Modern Poet is that sarcastic?

10 Nov 2016 16:22:11
Aren't modern poets the guys that colour in the pavement with a crayon?

10 Nov 2016 16:34:25
I'm sorry but as hard is Barton is he just doesn't have the pace or strength for up here. he's was shown up.

10 Nov 2016 16:46:32
Modern poetry must be some kind of format made impossible to follow.

10 Nov 2016 18:51:58
I don't Nico will be fine for next season. I reckon he'll be finished. He might make a recovery but he won't be able to get back to the required level by the time his contract is up.

10 Nov 2016 19:03:15
Young Rabbie Burns, you are having a laugh mate.

11 Nov 2016 17:00:15
niko kranjcar may never kick a ball again and it's an absolute shame.

10 Nov 2016 12:17:56
Seems all is not well either in the dressing room or amongst the fans! Maybe more are coming round to the view I have constantly expressed, that Warburton is not magic!

He is a journeyman manager of limited experience and with a reputation of being stubborn beyond belief. Also serious questions about his man management both here and at Brentford.
I'd simply add another series of issues.
How many of his summer signings do you rate? At least 6 in my opinion are a waste of wages.

Why does he persist with Foderingham who is an accident waiting to happen with the ball at his feet and does not command his area, where there are dodgy centre backs, given that a better all round keeper is on the bench?
Where is there a natural goal scoring striker in the side, apart from Miller, who can perform at SPL level?
Now that Niko is crocked where is there a creative midfielder capable of playing the telling pass in the team?

Is Warburton the only one who cannot see that our SPL opponents have all sussed our system and can combat it knowing he won't play any other?
Is Warburton a poor man manager as was suggested at Brentford and thus creates unrest in the dressing room?
Does Warburton seriously believe one performance of quality from his side in almost five months is acceptable?

Is the constant post-match banality that the performance was unacceptable but we will learn from it not insulting to the fans, as well as factually inaccurate?
If things continue as is should Warburton be trusted with whatever funds are available in the transfer window, knowing that he will recruit again from the lower English leagues a quality of player simply not good enough, that being the inevitable outcome of his buy cheap and add value philosophy ; only we don't see any added value! Garner at £1.8 million?

Will Warburton be at Ibrox next season or are rumours that his successor has already been identified true?
Plenty of issues and it seems to me not many positives.

10 Nov 2016 12:37:19
has foderingham in 18 months made a mistake that has lead to a goal? people are far too hard on him he is a good goalie as is gilks who nearly gifted celtic a goal remember. both keepers can do a job when called upon.

10 Nov 2016 13:52:23
A journeyman with 1 previous managment job, that's a new one. Garner is spl standard and will score goals plus we paid 750k for him. Fods is average and everyone was impressed with gim at brentford.

10 Nov 2016 14:08:41
Cee

Are you joking? Foderingham has been culpable for a number of goals and gets beaten to often at his near post. Do you not remember Stokes goal in the Hibs 3-2 win at Easter Road? Hibs 2nd goal in the 4-2 win at Ibrox? St Mirren's equaliser at the end of the season?

10 Nov 2016 14:10:01
Huey

Clearly that's untrue that everyone was impressed with him at Brentford. The owner clearly wasn't otherwise he wouldn't have let him go.

10 Nov 2016 14:11:20
Loads of questions in there GMac

Firstly did anyone actually think he was magic, he certainly never claimed he was.

Secondly sure we haven't pumped everyone we've played 5-0 this season and there have been a few really poor performances but where would you expect us to be in our 1st year back in the premiership?

Thirdly have we not been unfortunate with what were our 3 big summer signings? Barton just about everyone thought he was going to deliver, Niko worked his arse off to get fit then that happens and Rossiter hasn't been able to keep fit, they were meant to b our midfield this season with Windass too.

Sure we should do better and be better but I'd rather show patience and see where we are in a few months.

10 Nov 2016 15:09:39
Regarding our goalie, firstly I cannot remember one game where he has saved our bacon and dug out a result for us with several outstanding saves. Secondly he does not command the penalty box, not even the six yard box and thirdly there will be no DVDs released this Xmas highlighting his best saves of the season. Give Gilks his chance, have real competition for the jersey.

10 Nov 2016 16:48:36
Biffo, Brentford didn't get rid of Warburton, Warburton and the owner decided the best thing for the club was to go their separate ways when the owner decided that they would change the recruitment policy so that it was based on statistics rather than scouting.

10 Nov 2016 16:36:07
biffo you obviously don't have a clue about anything if you think Brentford let him go. and the stokes goal was 100 percent james tavernier and Rob kiernan fault as neither went near him and allowed him to run within 5 yards of our goalkeeper.

people keep slating fod with the ball at his feet yet we have never conceded from it.

10 Nov 2016 17:30:33
Isn't that the same as letting him go?

10 Nov 2016 18:35:27
Not quite the same really. Mutual agreement that the new setup wouldn't work. The owner wanted him to stay. Warburton didn't want to stay under those circumstances.

10 Nov 2016 19:13:19
Cee

If you want to have a go at me fine however get your facts right the goal I'm referring to was the one where Stokes crossed the ball and Foderingham dropped it into the net. I clearly stated the game at EASTER ROAD and not the cup final.

10 Nov 2016 19:14:15
Onlyshowaround

So if the owner didn't want him to go then how is it mutual agreement? The owner was happy to let him go and didn't want him.

10 Nov 2016 19:27:41
Biffo, The owner thought it was the best idea to set up a recruitment policy based on statistics rather than scouting? Warburton didn't like that idea so he decided his time there was over? Both Warburton and the owner agreed that to be the best plan of action. That's a mutual agreement is it not? Both of them mutually agreed the best plan was to go seperate ways as they have different views on recruitment. you are getting difficult these days.

10 Nov 2016 19:35:30
Has Barton not just left by mutual consent , were rangers not the ones wanting rid of him?

10 Nov 2016 20:20:02
Onlyshowaround

You have just made my point Warburton wanted to go and the owner wanted him to go as well. You can deny it all you want but the owner wanted to go in a difference direction and was happy to let him go.

10 Nov 2016 23:19:42
Not at all. The owner was not happy for him to leave. The owner wanted Warburton to stay, however he knew that Warburton would not stay and work under those "conditions" so they both agreed that the best plan was for Warbs to move on. At no point was he content with Warburton leaving however he believed the change in policy was the best for Brentford. He did want Warburton to stay though, so your point that the owner wanted rid of Warburton, that the owner was happy for him to leave or that Brentford sacked him are completely wrong.

11 Nov 2016 14:23:59
biffo u stated both games the cup final included where the stokes goal was kiernans fault for showing goal side I agree though that gilks would be the one i'd go for
in the sticks.
got to say I don't like sticking to the one formation its just being stubborn but when it works its a great system and when it doesn't to be fair to warbs the players are the one underperforming not him.
rossiter is a great prospect and once fit will add quality to the team .
I think holt should be dropped for forrester .

lets get one thing straight though GMACD AND BIFFO you guys want to change too much too fast and that would do nothing but harm our great club.
there are no better managers out there that want this job .
this is our first season back and its been a bad start to the season but I still think warbs will get us second spot.

if he can't get second this season he should and probably will be sacked.
but as fellow rangers fans please tell me that you can at least try and support our club in the way supporters should support their club and get behind the manager and his players .
I know that's hard for negative guys, but give it a go its not that hard.

10 Nov 2016 11:20:23
couple of points guys -
1. squad fitness
Waghorn looks like he's eating out of the chippy every night
Rossiter always out injured
Crooks arrived unfit
Windass persistant niggly injuries
Wilson frequently injureed while training or pre match
Krankjar banjaxed WHILE TRAINING
Holt was injured until a few games ago
IMHO we have a SERIOUS problem at Murray Park

2. with so many signings over the last 18 months can it affect a players performance living day to day out of suitcases in hotel rooms or temp accomodation, while their families are milesaway, and this includes both Warburton AND Weir

just thinking aloud guys but we are NOT all singing from the same sheet music and something or someone is not seeing the full picture at all?

10 Nov 2016 11:30:47
the injuries aren't muscle injuries though with the exception of windass and rossiter, waghorn is a big guy who packs a lot of muscle it's hardly fat. do you suggest we don't sign as many players and come up and try and play with guys like shiels, law, mohsni etc. who struggled in championship.

10 Nov 2016 15:35:08
Gents I am sorry to say it but the harmony at the club and the way MW is running this team is not producing any results or higher levels of fitness. I would be far happier if the all went for a pint and a curry midweek if it returned a decent performance and a good team spirit every week.
When you see Kenny Miller shaking his head in disbelief at being substituted again you known thing are not good.

11 Nov 2016 14:32:06
well Kenny miller should have scored or actually had a shot or set sum1 up in the second half of that game if he didn't want subbed none of them where even having a go and none of them had any passion in that game. (not that the subs made any difference.

I believe that we need a solid defence to attack the way warbs wants us to and a natural goalscorer as no one at the minuet is putting the ball in the back of the net.
we need sum1 that can score two or three against the likes of county who are a terrible side that plays terrible football.

what can warbs do they play great against a average killie team and then have a performance like that against a team that couldn't buy a point off of any other team in the league.

11 Nov 2016 18:20:05
They probably passed the ball better than us James so how bad does that make us?

10 Nov 2016 10:47:26
Hi guys,

A wee fun question for you guys.

A friend of mine at work (light on the loafers if you know what I mean) is going to his first game with a female friend of his!

He asked where is the best area of the stadium to experience!

Any thoughts?

10 Nov 2016 12:23:36
Depends what you mean by best experience? The atmosphere of late is shocking. we expect too much from our guys and are on there backs constant. not a place for a 1st date imo. Take her to pics instead.

10 Nov 2016 18:20:30
Ha ha I doubt very much if it could be called a 'date'. Maybe they could both enjoy the last fifteen minutes in the home dressing room watching the physios give the guys a rub down before they go out.

10 Nov 2016 23:02:56
Quality Seeker. Or maybe Murray Park. Plenty on the treatment table there!

10 Nov 2016 09:52:49
Back to my usual gripe re mr Warburton plans on u20's he maintains it is more beneficial for them to be on loan at league 1 and 2 sides playing semi full time and having our U20's languishing bottom half of developement league using younger boys. then i see the celtic youths playing in prestigious tournaments against top european and english U20's teams and doing well. E. g. Beating aston villa last night surely this instills confidence and a winning mentality in these young guys and it doesn't seem to hinder their ability to be competitive in the dev league either. i feel our boys are missing out on these opportunities as they will never be invited to such tournaments if they continue with poor results locally and stay in the nether regions of their own league. rant over.

10 nov 2016 10:17:51
wouldn't surprise me if warburton leaves in january along with barton.

10 Nov 2016 10:58:24
jonnyg - its not a rant. its a very valid and sensible point. Our loanees would be far better playing in the under 20-s and learning a winning mentality which is so much more positive and worthwhile, AND a valuable asset to have when expected to step up a level to the first team squad. I personally don't rate Warburton in this particular area, and so far his oveall choice of signings is quite baffling too.

10 Nov 2016 11:11:29
Thanks wee bill i just can't fathom out how warburton is bucking the trend of every other scottish team with this model. loan them to champ english teams yes but lower scottish league teams to me means they will be punted long before any of them can show any promise or be good enough for rangers first team so many wasted opertunities for the young guys who will come back end of season to be told rhey are not good enough. Warburton claims he doesn't watch the oppositions games very often so whars the chances he ever takes in a loanees game?

10 Nov 2016 11:29:03
Sorry but i have to disagree. every single top academy employs the same format. Barca/ Southampton/ Spurs/ Arsenal/ Bayern/ Dortmund. They all ship their 19/ 20/ 21 year olds out on loan and have 16/ 17/ 18yr olds competing at U20 level. This is a proven strategy that works. It gives players on the cusp of 1st team action real week by week experience of the pressures of first time and it gives younger kids the experience of playing players who are older/ fitter/ stronger than them and how to deal with those situations.

10 Nov 2016 11:33:38
they are playing against bigger, older, stronger players. the main problem with scotland is our youngster when they hit 20 21 don't progress they don't work harder and try and push themselves like guys in England and abroad do, they stay the same. players at that age need to bulk up get faster and stronger.

how you can think Warburton signings are poor is just mad, he has had to basically put together a completely new team in 18 months obv course there willl be bad signings.

10 Nov 2016 13:37:05
Celtics academy and development players get loaned out to but are still available to play in the CL youth cup and the premier league international matches like the one against Aston villa last night.

10 Nov 2016 08:22:36
Getting tired of reading the BS from some fans, stating that Barton only said the truth and spoke his mind!

Let's get it straight. It was not his position to tell some home truths. In my opinion you have to earn that right. At that time he had hardly kicked a ball! He is not and never will be a Rangers man. He does not and never will have any interest in Rangers. Barton is only interested in Barton. He is deluded about his own ability and the ability of others. In football you can only ever opporate as a team not as an individual. His actions are not constructive in any way to a team.

I could say a lot more negatives about this lad, I won't. He is not needed and never was needed.

10 Nov 2016 09:34:45
As for Reid, giving out opinions. This is the man who got rid of Nicky Summerbee after a dressing room bust up. Shortly after raving about him being second to Beckham in ability. Hypocrite!

What a coincidence he's a Celtic fan too. Do one Reid, trot off back to Thailand where the football is more at your level now.

10 Nov 2016 09:40:18
So truths should only be told if they are nice rose scented truths GDog? they should only be told by real rangers men? .
Here we have it in a nutshell, the reason the entity that was rangers has gone and the one that acts in its place has shiny happy people telling it's shiny happy fans everything is shiny and happy.
All the best in your shiny happy world.

10 Nov 2016 10:24:11
You've missed several points TTTS. The point is Barton wouldn't know the truth even if it looked like Scot Brown. He's a deluded ned.

He's in the door 5 minutes and you think he's qualified to start preaching how Rangers should be? Have you listened to Barton over the years? Have you heard how he thinks he's one of the best players in England, (that was a few months ago not years)? How he thinks he could manage England better than Hodgson ( he's never managed a pub team never mind national)? How he was going to be Player of the year? By quoting philosophical quotes on twitter he now thinks he's a philosopher?

Thats just a few! Are you telling me you are prepared to listen to 'his truths' and believe them based on the above?

If so my friend you are as deluded as him. He does not belong at Rangers.

10 Nov 2016 10:46:48
He was the greatest thing fae sliced bread a few months ago but now he s a ned make yer mind up, now it's Peter Reid getting it cause he supports a real club.

10 Nov 2016 11:34:32
a real club haha. Peter Reid is an absolute dough ball.

10 Nov 2016 13:37:53
Wonder why jeez.

10 Nov 2016 18:26:57
The guy is, was, and will always be an arse. In fact him and the wee hobgoblin, Lord of the Ringpieces extra would fit right in among your lot, Mally.
