Peter odemwingie just been released from Stoke, would definitely take him up here. Thoughts?

11 Jun 2016 00:04:23
No thanks.

11 Jun 2016 07:35:17
Nooooooooo.

10 Jun 2016 22:27:14
Just noticed on the Rangers website that they have Matt Crooks in the defenders section. I know he can play in both midfield and defence so maybe the sign of where he will be playing. Still think we will need at least one other central defender but NOT Kolo Toure in my opinion.

If Crooks is playing CB then for me that means Barton will play the holding role and leaves plenty of players fighting for the other 2 midfield roles. Exciting times ahead but still a few quality signings expected / needed.
Your thoughts guys?

11 Jun 2016 00:48:47
Dom Ball and crookes CB? Still would like another defender tho, and a quality striker.

10 Jun 2016 23:32:31
Matt Crooks will be DM.

11 Jun 2016 00:45:25
Still need 1 more CH, another striker and a wide player. If Krankjar is done deal we have him and Forrester in the hole, Windass, Rossiter, Hold and Halliday in CM, Wags, Miller, Hardie +1 up top mmm all starting to take shape.

11 Jun 2016 07:11:47
Windass is also listed as an attacker and not midfield so also questions the myth that we have too many midfeilders.

11 Jun 2016 09:33:30
Rossiter will be the holding mid I think.

10 Jun 2016 20:31:39
Man und release Nick Powell he would be good signing for the Bears.

10 Jun 2016 21:59:13
Wages would be a problem but good player.

11 Jun 2016 07:37:14
Powell is a very good player, I think the championship will be his next Pott of call tho.

10 Jun 2016 17:57:35
Steven Pienaar just been released? Wouldn't say no.

10 Jun 2016 17:18:51
Anyone else want us to sign Toure so that we can sing 'that song'. No limit!

10 Jun 2016 16:39:53
Stephen Fletcher released by Sunderland. Is he someone we would want or afford.

10 Jun 2016 17:18:08
plumber.

10 Jun 2016 17:21:16
No don't rate him at all.

10 Jun 2016 17:38:49
Better off with Jessica Fletcher.

10 Jun 2016 18:05:04
Jessica Fletcher love it lol. Hopefully Celtic sign him because he has be stealing a wage for years. If a striker can't score goals he is not a striker.

10 Jun 2016 18:24:36
Fletcher was a goal machine years ago at hibs, but at the highest level his goals to games ain't great, but you never know up in the spl he could do well again, but i personally wouldn't want him, but if the gaffer wants him, then i would back him.

10 Jun 2016 19:40:08
Goal machine?43 in 156 is harder a brilliant ratio for a number 9!hes mince I said a few days ago his agent is the superstar he got him all they big money moves God knows how.

10 Jun 2016 21:42:37
It's amazing wee ginger strachan rates him so highly, def
not for us .

11 Jun 2016 07:40:03
I think fletcher could score a lot of goals in our team, I can see him at the manky mob tho.

10 Jun 2016 16:11:30
So cashley has lost his appeal against the sfa over dual ownership, is this the step forward to finally getting rid.

10 Jun 2016 17:41:36
So long as we are still under this Sports Direct jumble sale fiasco we will never be rid of this.

Even if he has to sell his 9% or whatever it is he still makes on the merchandise for the next 6 and a half years unless we can pull something out of the legal bag.

10 Jun 2016 20:53:26
This appeal speaks volumes about Ashley and Jumble Sales Direct, spent more trying to get his £1,000 fine rescinded, sorry to say this guy is minted and going nowhere if anything I can see this getting messy and not Lional lol.

10 Jun 2016 16:04:08
What about Wes Brown? He's just been released by Sunderland and he's a proper CB, can't be any worse than Wilson and Kiernan.

10 Jun 2016 17:42:39
He can.

10 Jun 2016 19:41:58
Wes brown is injury prone only playing 7 games last year. I am open to fletcher. He can score goals in the right team. Neither Sunderland or Scotland are dominant like us and have lots of chances. Against weaker teams he scores. Gibraltar game is an example. Would take Toure every day of week.

10 Jun 2016 16:03:20
I know we have a lot of midfielders but why not take a punt on Jamie O'Hara. He's recently been released by Fulham and he's only 29 but with loads of experience.

11 Jun 2016 07:46:01
First time poster. I agree! I'm quite surprised warbs hasn't gone for him being a Tottenham man. Could possibly have been the next choice if Barton turned us down?

{Ed001's Note - he is not the player he once was, he will never be anything like as good due to the back problems. Best avoided.}

10 Jun 2016 15:35:39
If kranjcar signs we should then start our focus on a gk 2 centre half's an 20+ a season striker.

10 Jun 2016 15:11:24
Having read up on Warburtons time at Brentford and looked at the players we have signed and are being linked with I think we will see a small alteration in our tactics next season. At present we use a 4-3-3 and that will stay but it's the focus of the midfield 3 that will change.

When Brentford were in League 1 they had the same formation we played this season 1 holding mid (say Ball or Halliday) and 2 roving Mids ( Holt and Zelalem) but on moving into the Championship Warburton changed this and had 2 deeper Mids (one having to be a box to box midfielder ) and 1 further forward.
This gives our new signings and those we are chasing roles more suited to them.

Cdmid - Crooks/ Ball
B2b mid - Barton/ Rossiter/ Halliday
A mid - Windass/ Kranjcar (can play wide too) .

These players can obviously play several roles but you get my drift hopefully.

10 Jun 2016 17:24:31
Would make sense that he adjusts accordingly, and they way you have laid that out seem logical with the players at our disposal. I look forward to seeing the squad we have once the window closes. it will now be MW full squad turned around in 1 year, pretty impressive stuff!

10 Jun 2016 19:27:11
I can see this. I think McKay will be a number 10 in the future, this formation would suit that.

10 Jun 2016 20:57:26
I agree in the future Mckay may be a number 10 but it's definitely Windass' position.
My main concern with this is our wingers may have to come a little deeper at times and this will be okay for Barrie but Waghorn may suffer.

10 Jun 2016 14:33:58
Not overly impressive in the premier league but I wouldn't mind seeing Steven fletcher back in Scotland with us. Would do a good job I think if wages weren't too much of a stumbling block.

10 Jun 2016 14:15:18
Danny Graham released by Sunderland today.

10 Jun 2016 14:38:44
Blackburn want him permanent. Fletcher released to so no doubt Celtic will be after him.

10 Jun 2016 14:08:13
Shiels is the seventh player to leave Rangers this summer, with Nicky Law, Nicky Clark and David Templeton all released. Dominic Ball, Gedion Zelalem and Billy King have all returned to their parent clubs too. And with Cammy Bell also surplus to requirements. Mark Warburtons rebuild is really taking shape with Joey Barton, Jordan Rossiter, Josh Windass and Matt Crooks having already Joined Rangers and Nicko Kranjcar two year deal almost near completion things are really looking good so far. The only concerned thus far is can he rebuild the shaky defence and find that out and out goal scorer that can fire Rangers to the Title next season.

10 Jun 2016 15:26:39
Time will tell, one things for sure, we're going to see a different gers team come August.

10 Jun 2016 17:46:42
Abomb. are you not concerned about all these new players being introduced at the same time.

Barton will be okay, most of the rest of them will take time to bed in and get used to the frantic pace of Scottish football.

my fear is dropping points early on in the season until they all get used to each others strengths.

Its a big gamble blooding as many players all at once, and expect them all to hit the ground running.

11 Jun 2016 00:11:58
Thought that last season too but we all seen the outcome from the hibs game in the petrofac cup.

10 Jun 2016 13:55:59
Sorry to see shields leaving the club and wish him all the best for the future.

Got a lot of unfair criticism but always gave 100%.

Deserves a bit of credit for loyalty as he would be in NI squad had he left earlier and got more game time.

10 Jun 2016 13:27:28
anyone think we should put in an offer for adam rooney?

I think the boy would thrive in a team with as much position that we have and would score a load of goals!

10 Jun 2016 12:57:55
How many more signings do we think the club will make?

Think about another 3 permanent signings would be enough with a few loans later in the window.

Remember MW saying a while back that 2 or 3 more permanent signings will be made which maybe means about 3 more will come as well as Kranjcar.

10 Jun 2016 13:44:37
I think 2 cb's is a must.
cover for he full backs which maybe a recall of fraser aird would cover one spot. and an all out striker.
but I don't know if loan deals will be made.

10 Jun 2016 11:39:22
The Press and Journal is reporting today that the Krancjar deal is all but done. If he signs I can't see Celtic topping the Barton and Krancjar signings in terms of experience and class. Oh, I forgot. They are signing Ibrahimovic lol. Seriously, with the experience of Barton, Krancjar and Miller in the side allied to our exciting younger players like Mackay, Tavernier, O'Halloran and Forrester the future is looking orange and blue.

10 Jun 2016 13:36:56
I disagree doiger, I won't be surprised if Celtic sign a couple of players for about 4 or 5 million mate, I fancy them to spend about 10 or 15 million this summer, but the signing policy of rangers just now is superb, I'm delighted with how the club is conducting their business.

10 Jun 2016 13:38:56
Doiger, I have to agree, the Kranjcar deal is a very shrewd bit of business, the guy is a very good player with great technique and vision, this one excites me more than the barton deal.

09 Jun 2016 21:00:33
is anyone else thinking that niko kranjcar will be a player coach in place of durrant. due to the fact he is taking his coaching badges at the moment?

10 Jun 2016 12:01:53
Very doubtful mate, if he comes to us then he's to here to win trophies, I'm not sure how much he's won during his career.

10 Jun 2016 12:03:45
I think mw will bring someone in, i could see kenny miller working in a coaching role at rangers in the future.

10 Jun 2016 11:09:05
Dean shiels has been let go after his contract expired, another step in the right direction by the club although i wish him all the very best for the future.

10 Jun 2016 11:38:44
He gets on the tram in Edinburgh with his wife, I never bother him when he is with his family but I will need to wish him luck next time he gets on.

10 Jun 2016 10:39:47
Dean Sheils has left the club.

10 Jun 2016 09:32:27
Morning and happy Friday Bears.

With Kranjcar looking set to sign we have Sheils, Rossiter, Holt, Barton, Halliday, Forrester young lads Thompson and Burt as well as Murdoch.

I make that ten midfield players not including McKay, OHallaron who are wingers because we play three up top (which I love) . I love our manager and his staff but are we in trouble of having to many midfield players and upsetting the squad and the pathway to the first team that The gaffer wants everyone to see?

10 Jun 2016 09:54:52
Shields is out of contract at the end of June/ July and I can't see him getting/ or wanting to sign a new contract.

10 Jun 2016 10:09:50
I don't think we have too many in the middle as I think the gaffer will be rotating the squad and its better to have a couple extra incase of injury.

I doubt that we will be as lucky as last season to not have many out injured.

10 Jun 2016 10:16:37
Defo not, were going to need everyone of them next season, it's a long season and with both cups they will all get game time.

10 Jun 2016 10:39:49
You would imagine the younger players getting pumped out on loan again and possibly Sheils leaving making it 6 then add crooks if not in defence and windass as attacking mid so if krankjar joins I would imagine we're done in that department, keeper, centre half and a finisher and we're set.

10 Jun 2016 10:57:35
Well just as I post that Rangers Official website has confirmed Dean Sheils departure. Agree with you Stu Magoo keeper, centre half and striker Ill be a happy bear.

10 Jun 2016 11:02:42
These are by all accounts midfield players, but it seems to me that MB wants players capable of playing anywhere in the team, let's face it, is first season was as close to total football as I've ever seen at Ibrox. The hat has my confidence.

10 Jun 2016 12:57:08
also the gaffer needs different types of players who can change the game if needed. there were a few games where it wasnt going our way and we never had that option plus look at the cup games when we were short on the bench.

challenge/ competition/ desire. that's what we need this season.

10 Jun 2016 13:26:57
Kranjcar will be more wide left up front.

10 Jun 2016 06:48:02
Today the Costa Rican national team trained at my school (for the copa america) and since I'm on the soccer team (football) i was allowed to watch them play and had some kick ups with Joel Campbell. I saw Esteban Alvarado and since he was linked with Rangers I kept a close eye on him. He was nothing special, Wes Foderingham is as good. He would provide quality competition and add some international experience to the squad. Yet he would be an added cost and I don't know if the addition is necessary for the squad.

10 Jun 2016 09:18:01
To be fair, a promotional training session at a school isn't the best place to see how good a player is.

10 Jun 2016 05:35:06
Well it's the start of the euros tonight and the chance for players to make an impression and lab themselves at the door of a big club. Who do you guys think will stand out in the tournament?

10 Jun 2016 10:13:28
ive taken Belgium to win the competition and I think hazard for as poor as he has been this season, will stand out in the tournament!

10 Jun 2016 10:23:31
France will win it. but I think deli ali, Harry Kane and vardy will have a great tournament, fancy England to go far also think bale will light it up but I would love Northern Ireland to do well but they're in a very hard group. it could be a great euros but I just hope nothing happens regarding terrorism after last November.

10 Jun 2016 11:28:12
Germans won't be far away.

10 Jun 2016 11:38:25
I put money on France with Vardy top scorer 250/ 1, unlikely but with that man you just never know!

10 Jun 2016 12:05:54
Italy for me at 18 to 1.

10 Jun 2016 13:46:53
I fancy Portugal to win it, got a sneaky feeling Sweden and Croatia (especially) will surprise a lot of folks. Greizmann to be player of tournie and muller top scorer.
