Thought of the day.

Would it have been a bad thing if Ashley had taken control of Rangers.

Hes got deeper pockets then DK.

Ashley would have put money where is mouth is i think.

Don't shoot me guys i'm just thinking out loud.

if DK doesn't have the money or wish to put more in then i say go.
i still think he's trying to recoup his £20m he lost.

10 Jan 2017 21:43:18
Ashley has received stick for years at at Newcastle for not forking out the money he has &C as for DK he won't spend big until fat mike is out the picture cause it's too big a leap of faith, once he's gone I think we will see money finally being put in

10 Jan 2017 21:45:27
DK is probably £30-35m in total down on his Rangers dealings over the years as we stand today. There is currently no realistic opportunity to recover what he has spent. Please tell me how we will make any money from a club with no revenue stream and no one to buy his shares. The share price has been 27p for the last 18 months

10 Jan 2017 21:43:13
How is he going to recoup his 20 million we are skint. Ask newcastle has ashley put his money were is mouth is. Only this season has he spent money. Are ask the poor people who work for sports direct if ashleys is a good boss

10 Jan 2017 23:14:28
Recoup it from where exactly Punter? Apart from season ticket sales there is no access to a major revenue stream. No European football means very little sponsorship money, no larger tv or prize money and we have no merchandising money to speak of. let's say Wallace and Garner are on 10K a week (just for talking sake) those 2 players are costing over 1 million accross 52 week contract. Now add up the rest of the first team, development squad, youth teams, coaches, physios, kit men, groundsmen, scouts, dinnerladies, security, travel costs, players accomodation etc. Not to mention running costs of Ibrox and Murray Park and Matchday expenses. So yes I don't like where we are financially compared to Celtic at the min but it grates on me when people say King etc haven't spent any money in the club. There's more to investing in the club and getting it back on its feet than transfer fees.

11 Jan 2017 01:33:12
Parky. add up what king "ect" has put in. "Ect" more than king you'll find. The question was about king v ashley though. King aquired rangers and also crippled the club by his actions.

I'd actually like anyone to pick apart every piece of account data that is actually available. Add soft loans, season tickets and the wee cut of any merch, fan donations etc. Line that up against posted losses and the difference may be your figure. I might be wrong but has DK ever said exactly what he personally has spent since taking over till now? He hasn't in my mind but I may of missed it. There are hoards of fans screaming for his head for not spending a penny and to my eyes he hasn't and hasn't replied or publicly defended himself with a counter quote or any real sum of money.

Do some extensive reading on how he aquired rangers. How he encouraged starvation of ticket sales and encouraged the company to be delisted, sorry for a nomad to be brought in. His failed alleged search for a nomad was nothing more than smoke and mirrors. For a guy that is an international business man you and many others have been sold down the river by him doing "ooh a didnae know that wiz gonnae happen" routine.
Wake up

11 Jan 2017 01:47:08
Mols
30-35m over the years down? He was ment to of been a 20m investor back in the day. Do you honestly think he made nothing? I'd say he made a stack through loophole accountancy. Or when things started to go wrong murray kept quiet and threw him under a 20m pound bus? Take your pick.

11 Jan 2017 06:20:36
I'm not 100% about this but I don't remember Ashley ever being interested in actually owning Rangers.

11 Jan 2017 06:55:10
Parky, the last two agm's he's tried to bring in new share issues but failed, that could be a way of getting some of the £20m back.

For a chairman that's absent 90% of the time he's failed to live up in my book.
He just told us what we all wanted to hear when he was taking over.
Smokin mirrors.

As for Ashley we will never know what could have been. Ashley aligned himself with some dead beats that was his mistake ie green etc

11 Jan 2017 08:06:53
Rglen8

I like you have no conclusive proof for my opinions, but have read extensively on al aspects of Rangers ownership since Craig Whyte set the pressed the button for destruction.

I do honestly think that DK has made nothing from Rangers to recover his original investment and his more recent investments.

As you put it I think he was thrown under the £20m bus. As I have noted on this pages a number of times where is the evidence of his mechanism for return on investment through accountancy loophole or otherwise

The same cannot be said about CG or MA who have creamed of between them millions from a Rangers over the last 4 years. There is definite proof of that

11 Jan 2017 08:09:29
Ashley doesn't invest in teams, he loans them money. or that is what I'm lead to believe. he hasn' actually invested money into Newcastle, instead he loans it and gets it back, eventually. I'm sure newcastle are in 100m+ debt to him.

11 Jan 2017 08:12:55
Ask a Newcastle fan - remember they are/ were milking the fans.

Otherwise who are you Punter? Ashley or his agent?

11 Jan 2017 08:18:52
Are you Derek lambias? Mike Ashley is scum, lowest of the low. Even if he didn't have money he would still be a class a ****. Do we really want a man like that? Remember how he screwed us with the 5 loans?

11 Jan 2017 08:28:44
Onlyshowaround

I agree completely All of the clubs in England are in huge debt but are slowly clawing it back through the sky deal. Celtic are the only exception as through good management, timing and a slice of luck are probably one of the only clubs who are essentially debt free.

11 Jan 2017 08:33:42
Ashley is a clever businessman who sails close to the wind on most of his deals. Just look at the shoddy way he treats his employees at Sports Direct. He saw an opportunity when the 'alleged' crooks were running the show at Rangers and he took it. The contracts put in place before he lost control look dubious at best but by the looks of things it will take most of the six years remaining on the notice period before he is sorted out in Court.

There are other questions to be asked, in particular regarding his 'dual control' over Newcastle and Rangers. I have to ask the question, why has the English FA not taken action or is it simply that they are hoping Newcastle return immediately to the EPL and their problem goes away.

None of this as pact of the current shambles has anything to do with King albeit that I do not believe a word of what he says in terms of transfer funding.

We are where we are and the most frustrating thing for me remains, that the man that initially conned the support has pretty much walked away without any action taken against him. David Murray, in cahoots with Bank of Scotland, knew exactly what was being done when the Club was handed over to Craig Whyte who just happened to be another client of the Bank. Even a half intelligent Risk Manager would have seen that Whyte did not have the wherewithal to acquire Rangers never mind a captain of Industry and the expert Bankers within the BoS. For me it was all a scam from day one! Of course the Establishment in Scotland will neatly brush any wrong doings under the carpet just as they have done in the past with other football scandals!

11 Jan 2017 08:56:14
If Ashley was interested in making Rangers a force again why did he and his mates on the board at the time agree to the kit deal if the success of the club was important to him would it not have been better to have a contract which at least put some money back into it instead of taking every penny he could get how can King get his money back since we were relegated to the bottom tier of the league we have lost money year on year so instead of taking any money out he is part of a board that are putting money in just to keep the lights on no individual or group will invest in us with the fat man strangling the life out of the club this will continue for the six years that are remaining on these fat man contracts so it pains me to admit it but I can't see how we can stop Celtic getting to ten in a row or even eleven twelve or more we just have not got the money to compete unless we are hugely lucky in transfers or we can pick up top class young players and turn them into top class players we have full houses every home game our only source of income and that is not enough to break even we are paying a fortune to fight in the courts to try and turn these Ashley contracts into a deal that at least gives the club some money I was at shareholders meeting and they tried to get a share issue passed where they didn't have to offer shares to all existing shareholders so if it had been passed Ashley and that pair from Greenock who backed the old board and Ashley would have not been offered shares the diluting their grip on the club but that didn't get enough votes so we are stuck in this mess at least till next years AGM then I hope it gets passed

11 Jan 2017 09:42:43
Thinkaboutit

Didn't get enough votes due to a so called club legend not bothering to vote

11 Jan 2017 09:53:15
that's not even a debate!
king has done nothing but try to get us out of a crippling contract with Ashley and Ashley is bleeding us dry .

one trying to save us and one trying to end us hmmmmm I wonder which one i'd rather have in charge!

"IDIOTS"

11 Jan 2017 09:56:21
Stewie25
Yes that was a strange decision only he can explain that it's two years in a row the motion has been defeated last time by less that 1% but it pains me that some fans still see Ashley as a possible saviour when he is up there with the people who have taken the lions share out of our club at the old firm game as we come in from opposite end I had to pass the Sports Direct shop (£1 a year rent yes he has our interests at heart) and still fans were in it buying kit why don't they just pop £50 in an envelope and send it to The Fat Man care of Newcastle FC that's who gets the profit from the sale not us

11 Jan 2017 13:16:19
Perhaps McCoist is still on Ashley's payroll! You never know, Ally seems to like money more than anything except the women!

11 Jan 2017 15:26:52
Ranger and cee.

im just a concerned Rangers fan nothing more. plus i like to think-out loud lol

11 Jan 2017 18:54:41
Punter if you believe that King could take 20 million out if a share issue then you are clueless. Also, the board have successfully passed resolutions at the last 2 AGMs for a share issue. What they have failed twice at however, is a resolution to have a share issue offered first of all exclusively to new investors. Thus trying to exclude the likes of Ashley and Easdale and so dilute their shareholdings in the company and so their influence when it comes to voting rights.
We know exactly what Ashely would be like as an owner. Look at Newcastle Utd. No investment, but loans that he is owed back to the tune of close to 130m. St. JAMES Park is festooned with Sports Direct advertising that he doesn't pay the going rate for. Look at how he treats his workers at his companies. Rangers is more than Football Players. There are people there on normal wages with everyday mortgages and bills to pay. Do you think they would like this man as their boss? Henis a business man who is out for himself. He is not an idiot so your comment of 'he aligned himself with dead beats' is a rediculous one. He knows exactly what he is doing every step of the way with his dealings with our club and none of it has Rangers best interests at heart.

11 Jan 2017 19:40:51
Ok rglen8. In May '15 King through his Company New Oasis Asset Ltd loaned the club £1.5m. In December '15 a further £3m loan facilty was made available to the club by New Oasis of which £2.2 was drawn down. The remaining £0.8 credit remained available to the club. that's an interest free loan of £4.5m that King has made available to the club.
Also on March '15 Douglas Park, John Bennet and Paul Murray made a loan totalling £0.75m between them available. In December '15 they made a further loan of £1.7m between them available to the club. that's £2.45m between the 3 of them.
Also in March '15 George Letham, George Taylor, Andrew Ross, Barry Scott and Scott Murdoch made a loan totalling £1.5m between them available.
In December '15 the same 5 men made a loan totalling £2.375 between them available to the club. that's £3.875m between 5 men.
So 8 men have loaned the club a total of £6.325m between them. King has loaned the club £4.5m himself. So you are right, the 8 'etc' have loaned slightly more than the single King.

11 Jan 2017 22:21:38
Parky no need to get personnel ie clueless comment. i never said i was in the know . just thinking out loud maybe this maybe that.

You seem to be very pro King!

Perhaps if he talked to the fans more then he would get more support.
DK can't tell us everything, but least engage with us.
Ie tell us how it is with regards to the current transfer window tell us the cold hard truth.

11 Jan 2017 23:08:15
Punter what I meant was that it was a clueless comment to suggest that our Chairman would take money out of any share issue for his own pocket. I am pro King and Murray and the rest in respect of the people who were in control of our club before. People who did take money out the club by various different methods. I acknowledge that King has made some dubious comments, like front load investing, mentioning £30m and his childrens inheritance. However he and the other investors/ directors have made millions available to the club to try and get us back on an even keel. It annoys me when people only equate transfer kitty as investment in the club (i'm not saying you are one of those people) and say that King etc have not spent any money. Well they have. He may not be the long term answer for our club but he is better than what we have had in the recent past. Sorry for any offence.

11 Jan 2017 22:02:05
Ashley in charge with lambias and the sleezdales, give me strength. Where were you two years ago punter? When I read your post I thought surely that's a wind up and you must be a celtic fan doing a bit of fishing. Anyway that's my bite😩

12 Jan 2017 08:31:48
Onlyshowaround you've hit the nail in the head mate! that's exactly what mike ashley does! I've got a good few pals who are newcastle to the core and they tell me exactly the same as you put it! Maybe with the exception of this season with rafa as manager now! My geordie pals despise him just like we despise him! Newcastle as i've stated on here many times, are my favourite english club and he will never put me off liking newcastle utd or the geordie fans! In saying i only have and ever will support ONE football club, THE FAMOUS GLASGOW RANGERS! My focus will always be on them and hope we/ dave king can find a way of getting rid of mike ashley for good! Then get back to selling and making millions from our kit sales, with the money going directly into the club!

10 Jan 2017 21:26:52
Rangers need to bed in youngsters. get baz mackay sign new contract. loan him hopdfuly to premier league team for 6 month. he does the buisness for them then sell him high. youngsters just ain't getting the chance.2.0 up wi 30 mins to go. get them on the park

10 Jan 2017 21:42:52
what a load of guff, how long did it take you to come up with that rubbish

10 Jan 2017 22:02:31
try loan out one of our best player's u mad.?

10 Jan 2017 22:18:30
Why would a Premier- assuming you mean EPL- team want to take a Scottish player on loan? Doesn't work that way, they already have the quality.

10 Jan 2017 22:19:16
Im speechless after that

10 Jan 2017 22:37:19
@davie1980 - most of us have started a dry January, you've obviously decided to keep going after that belter!

10 Jan 2017 22:39:36
Once DK gets rid off Ashley he will stay for a few seasons get his monkey back and look for a realible person to sell the club to . Mike Ashley is a fat prick! He's crippling us

10 Jan 2017 23:02:32
Davie drugs are for mugs please stay clear from them please! Absolutely howling after that statement mate! 😂😂😂😂

10 Jan 2017 23:03:57
How often are we 2-0 up

11 Jan 2017 09:55:41
REDICULOUS

11 Jan 2017 14:36:33
Stupid statement, when are we ever 2-0 up in a game

10 Jan 2017 21:06:18
Is Total out of contract at end of season

10 Jan 2017 21:24:21
Sure is could be ours gor 250k if arsenal offer him new contract

10 Jan 2017 20:56:49
Just wondering what others think but would you try and get people like kaputska on loan had a good euros playing for Leicester reserves and not had much first team action

10 Jan 2017 17:49:15
I think Rangers should make a move for northern Ireland pair Craig Cathcart and Garth McCauley, Cathcart out of Watford 1st team n McCauley in last 6 months of his contract I'd also seriously think of putting in a bid for Jason Cummings and Patterson of hearts

10 Jan 2017 18:24:07
Could their be anything worse than mcauley and hill at the back? Cummings would be a great buy but Patterson is out for 9 months

10 Jan 2017 18:31:56
Mccauley is still putting in quality performances each week but he is 37 so can't see him going on much longer! Cathcart is a shout good experience and still mid 20s! Not a great fan of either cummings or patterson

{Ed001's Note - Cathcart has been injured most of the season, but played 5 of the 6 matches since returning to fitness. He is certainly not 'out of Watford 1st team'.}

10 Jan 2017 19:13:13
Why are we always seeing it suggested that we go for Northern Ireland players. As a team and with an excellent manager they do play well but individually the majority of their players are ordinary.

As for Patterson he is out for nine months and there is absolutely no guarantee that he will be as good a player when he returns.

Jason Cummings, not for me.

10 Jan 2017 19:25:40
Ordinary? We are a better team than Scotland anyway. Michael O'Neil was in the league of Ireland before he got job. So I'd hardly call him an excellent manager. And for the record mccauley is better than any defender playing in Scotland.

10 Jan 2017 19:37:54
Dont knock McCauley i think he's scored 4 goals in the prem this season! Lol not bad for 37 yr old

10 Jan 2017 19:38:02
Cathcart is way above what we can afford, however he is a quality player. Gareth McAuley would be the best defender in Scotland by a country mile. Who ever said McAuley and Hill would be a bad pairing for us needs to lay of the buckfast!

10 Jan 2017 20:54:09
Cummings would also be a terrible buy!

10 Jan 2017 20:56:12
Would be the worst pairing in football history so slow the pair of them. Northern Ireland are poor and certainly not as good as Scotland just because they had the easiest group of everybody doesn't make them good.

10 Jan 2017 22:02:33
Cee your having a laugh. Scotland is twice the size of northern ireland and we our still higher up the rankings than Scotland and have been for years. Scotland are the worst side in the British Isles. Especially there defence. Not 1 of there defenders would get in the northern ireland team and stevie davis is in a different class than any midfielder you have. And even the much maligned kyle lafferty has scored more international goals than all your forwards put together l.

10 Jan 2017 22:29:33
Given the players that both Northern Ireland and the ROI have and how well both teams play, surely a United Football Team, just like the Rugby, would give both countries the opportunity to put together a team that would be on a par or better than England!

I won't include Scotland in the discussion since it is a long time since they had any top quality players!

Goodness, even the USA has better players these days!

10 Jan 2017 22:46:58
Was big Davy Wier slow? Was big Davy Wier good for us? Is John Terry slow? Enough said! U don't have to be a flying machine to play centre half if you can read the game well, make good decisions, be aggressive and attack the ball well etc. McAuley very very good at these things. Clint Hill is not bad at these things either and has probably been our best centre half this season

11 Jan 2017 08:37:59
Davie Weir and John Terry were top class football players that played in significantly better teams than we see at Rangers today. McAuley looks top drawer in the N. Ireland team but I fear like others, and I include Clint Hill and even Wilson and Kiernan, he would be hung out to dry playing behind Halliday. Yes, he would improve our defence but until we have a quality Holding Midfield player / defensive midfield player of quality the defence will be at risk and this is a position that Warburton has failed miserably to fill.

11 Jan 2017 10:02:01
MCAULEY is a top player but i'd like to build for the future and buying 37 year olds isn't going to help with that the northern Ireland team isn't much better than Scotland they just have a better manager sake i'd be better than Strachan.
wouldn't be picking the likes of the two fletchers for a start

10 Jan 2017 13:07:22
Any news on the lad from Falkirk Gallagher as I have only heard good things bout him. let's be honest we ain't going to get Berahino I've read fans on this page think it's possible I would love to be wrong but he will move elsewhere its as realistic as getting Van Persie. Would like to get that lad Hepburn from Villa. Hourihane if he ain't signed new contract or pre signed contract with other club. and obviously Berahino lol Need 2 new Cbs

10 Jan 2017 14:23:54
Wouldn't touch hourihane too similar to windass we need a striker and a winger.

10 Jan 2017 14:59:32
Cee, isn't Hourihane more of a Holt than a Windass? a box to box type of player?

10 Jan 2017 16:38:30
Hourihane. Can play denfsive mid, centre mid and left mid, but he has excellent season so far and chips in with a few goals and I believe playing in a better standard of football more experience and is only 25 still in sure

10 Jan 2017 19:14:32
He sounds perfect, Bluenose. We are in desperate need for both a defensive midfield player and a centre mid with a bit more skill than what we have.

10 Jan 2017 20:51:58
From what I've seen of hourihane he's at least 1 if not 2 levels above anything else we've got boy seems to have a bit of everything in his locker!

10 Jan 2017 20:56:32
There is nothing defensive about hourihane

11 Jan 2017 10:08:28
so we just get two midfielders and you guys want more?

honestly think some people on here are blind we need sum1 to score goals yes but our biggest problem is defending .

our middle of the park is fairly strong I think windass when fit holt and halliday are a good midfield but no one can shoot.

but games like the celtic one where u have players like Wilson leaving the best striker they have unmarked then u have got to say that we need defenders and ones with a bit of presence something our boys lack.
hill is too slow and Kiernan honestly I've never seen a defender who likes to show goal side as much as he does

11 Jan 2017 13:22:21
Sorry James but Halliday is a waste of a jersey and Holt still has a lot to learn. There is a reason why Hearts let him go! We need to replace both these players and hope that Holt develops with Warburton and his coaching staff. As far as Halliday is concerned being a Rangers supporter does not make him a quality player unfortunately!

Perhaps if he had been played in his rightful position we would have seen a better player but by playing him out of position because he appears incapable of finding a Holding Midfield player, Warburton is not doing Halliday any favours. (It is a bit like Big Jig who would equally play anywhere for the club but was a better player than Halliday when we signed him) .

11 Jan 2017 20:22:15
Emerson hyndman is a centre mid with more skill than we already currently have TOMUSA. I do agree we need a defensive midfielder until young jordan rossiter gets fit or matt crooks gets his chance! With the loan signing of jon toral we've now got 2 very creative players within our team with barrie mckay and of course jon toral!

10 Jan 2017 13:00:01
Surely if we were wanting berahino then we would of made a move by now.

10 Jan 2017 15:00:33
Who is to say we haven't? besides, chances are this was paper talk, it has been a rather boring week, we need something to talk about.

10 Jan 2017 19:23:28
Really? Anyone decent to rangers will not be happening any time soon. Why not be realistic rather than being ridiculous

10 Jan 2017 12:39:00
Would like to see Rangers field the young lad gilmour if he is as good as likes of Man U Arsenal, Barcelona ascouts think he is the we should give him a shot worked for Everton playing Rooney and let's be honest the Scottish Football is nowhere near that standard so it could work well. There was a time when Rangers used to put their youngsters out without a second thought such as Derek Johnstone cup final and getting first team action or being in the squad I believe would fend off interest instead of going there and playing in the youth teams and wasting away like other good youngsters.

10 Jan 2017 13:08:52
can't play until the summer at the earliest

10 Jan 2017 13:15:46
tha is for the info question to you would u play him or protect him and do you feel it would starve off the interest of other clubs

10 Jan 2017 13:51:53
If he is good enough play him, same goes for Burt and Thompson

10 Jan 2017 14:16:49
Absolutely agree bluenosebear84. I am sick and tired of youngsters being ignored, first by McCoist and McDowall and now by Warburton. Surely the like of Burt, Hardie, Thompson and Walsh could have been given a chance by now? What do we do, wait until they are 30 before giving them a game? One of the greatest Scots ever to play the game was Denis Law and he was 16 when he made his senior debut! The players brought in by Warburton have largely been disappointing. O'Halloran, Garner, Crooks. Have the guts to give youth a chance! Can't be any worse.

10 Jan 2017 14:24:37
He's only 15 and hardly big for his age. Rooney was a phenomenon, physically advanced for his age and is feeling it now.

10 Jan 2017 15:00:48
Cee. Denis Law was a skinny, bespectacled boy!

10 Jan 2017 17:09:51
Not being funny when messi was 17 he wasn't the biggest did have a wee bit more weight but the point here is if he good enough then he should play . I honestly believe if he is as good as all they scouts that have visited then he really must have something and let's be honest playing in Scotland ain't the greatest league in the world. Worst case scenario he doesn't play well put him back in the reserves but at least he gained valuable first team experience which gives him more determination to succeed.

10 Jan 2017 19:15:09
If the boy gilmour is as good as we are being told we better hope he's patient and will wait for chance. He must be looking at Burt and Thomson and seeing them not getting a game and a big criticism of mine with gers over the years we've always been slow to give young guys a chance.

10 Jan 2017 19:50:53
The boy is a standout at his age for both rangers and Scotland tho he is only 15 and built like a 15yr old school kid. I don't think he can play till he's 16 but I'd def have him in and around the first team so when he is exposed to being in the squad it's familiar.
I really hope we can keep this kid at rangers and I'd be using ex Celtic youth Feruz as perfect example. This kid may have earned good cash but he hasn't kicked a ball since he went to Chelsea and couldn't even get game time at hibs on loan.

10 Jan 2017 20:59:04
It's the same as all the hype when John Fleck was coming through the ranks he was being called Scotland's answer to Rooney look at him now plying his trade in the English third tier. How many youngsters have made it at Ibrox I can count on one hand the money and time spent through the years at Murray park we should be miles ahead in that department.

10 Jan 2017 22:20:46
I agree with gers 79 bout Murray Park not getting results from it. I think scotty123 point is bang on about gilmour being around the first team and even if he was starting use him is a sub in the league and play him cup games. And for everyone saying the wouldn't have Hourihane he is miles better that's What's there he would add loads to the squad and he's versatile player but would use him as central mid.

11 Jan 2017 10:12:18
when the boy is old enough if he is good enough I start him on the cup games only unless he plays really well then league games aswell but i'd definitely play him in some capacity to make sure we don't lose him and he signs a contract when he is old enough

10 Jan 2017 12:08:49
i keep reading posts criticising King etc but does nobody realise that until Ashley has been despatched to the waste bin, nothing great will happen. He is holding us to ransom and until THAT ransom is paid off in full, he will continue to destroy our club. The priority must be to pay this guy of NOW and then and only then, we can see some light at the end of a very dark tunnel, so let's just remember its not just a football team that King and Co are running, it's a business that is still in intensive care and has a long struggle ahead until we take care of the Ashley problem

10 Jan 2017 12:37:13
well said wee bill I for one have a brain in between these ears but can't for the life of me understand the rangers fans that expect king and co to put up their own money when we can't make a profit while the fat rat holds all the cards

10 Jan 2017 13:44:37
The Three Bears and the Two Far East Rangers fans have given significant funds to the Club by way of Soft Loans. King on the other hand has been full of bull and is potentially only making matters worse in his personal battle with Ashley.

The Ashley scenario is a perfect excuse for King not to part with any cash and for me he is just another David Murray. Glad to have everyone else funds invested in the club other than his own!

I am not a fan of Ashley, far from it but that doesn't mean that I need to be a fan of King!

10 Jan 2017 13:57:04
Pay him how much off now, the full value of dodgy deals agreed by members of the old board who may have had conflict of interest that are subject of litigation.

10 Jan 2017 14:36:32
Anyone who reads my posts will know I'm a big fan of our board, but I would not give Ashley a pay off, that has took a small fortune from us, and will keep taking off us, our only hope is we beat him in court this case is up very soon, as for Dave King I don't know if he will pump major funds into the club, all I know is major funds will not be invested while Ashley still has a grip on Rangers, so bottom line is we must beat Ashley in court by proving the contracts he got from the old board were not at market value and the old board did not act in rangers best interests as the only person who benefited from them was themselves and Ashley, fingers crossed the judge will see this. but as I said major funds will not be invested while Ashley and co are still there taking money out the club.

10 Jan 2017 15:48:00
Good post Delboy and let's hope that the Court Case goes in our favour. As for King I remain sceptical that King will invest any significant amount in to the Club but equally I believe that there could be other serious players interested should King be unable or unwilling to make the Investment necessary to get the club back to the top.

Given the size of our support worldwide there are significant opportunities if we have the right people in charge both on and off the Park!

10 Jan 2017 16:58:57
Agreed tom, I'm also sceptical regarding King, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt until Ashley is removed, then I, ll judge him on what investment he makes, but I'm still glad he's in power because I would hate to think were we would be if they never removed Ashley and co. but your right there is investors there but money won't be put into the club until Ashley and co are gone for good. god knows how long that will be though.

10 Jan 2017 17:14:54
Agree Dellboy, we need to get Ashley out first before judging King. King and the current Board have provided much needed stability and support during a very difficult period in our history.

10 Jan 2017 12:03:42
Premier Sports showing Rangers game this week. £4.99 for those who don't already have it. I feel we definately need a striker this month so hope we get one. Natural finisher - fox in box type

10 Jan 2017 14:26:56
Totally agree but I don't think we are going to get one, we might get the boy from villa on pre contract, but I don't know if we will get one for the rest of this season

10 Jan 2017 22:43:10
Franny jeffers wizards, your a wizard harrrreee

10 Jan 2017 11:32:15
If we got rid of tav senderos moh and released kranjcar plus with the money we have from Barton's contract surely we would be able to afford a top players wages if we get them on a pre contract

10 Jan 2017 12:09:04
One top player is less than what's needed, although a step in the right direction.

10 Jan 2017 12:49:12
still wouldn't get rid of tav I think he will prove to be a great asset for the club and one we have better quality in the cb position then he will shine still think rob Kiernan and hill and Wilson and senderos are nowhere near the quality we need hill being the best of the bunch

10 Jan 2017 13:11:28
James what are you on mate it's tav who makes the defence bad kiernan was solid with wee hodgson beside him

10 Jan 2017 14:24:59
Spot on bear, it was tavs fault we lost the 2nd goal against Celtic Kiernan was screaming at him for not doing his job by not picking up Sinclair, he has been at fault for a few goals, and your right Kiernan has looked much better beside hill, I would play hodson every week, wether that means pushing tav forward or dropping him I don't know, but hodson must play

11 Jan 2017 16:56:53
How many times have some of our fans to be told that we know tavernier isn't a defender! He's playing in a system warbs wants him to play which is very attack minded! We all know he's an attacking right wing-back! I certainly wouldn't get rid of him as i agree with james stirling 100%! In the advanced attacking role that warbs has him playing he creates chances for our forwards! Put it this way if we had a better defensive mid and better and quicker centre halfs we wouldn't be talking about tavs defensive deficiencies because in the system with the correct players that would be sorted out! Try and understand guys!

10 Jan 2017 10:33:48
Fifa expanding world cup from 32 to 48 teams. do u now think we will qaulify. nah no chance lol

10 Jan 2017 10:40:02
nope not while that donky is in charge

10 Jan 2017 11:26:59
Let's hope so. I am 65 and hoped I might see Scotland playing in the finals once more before I shuffle off this mortal coil!

10 Jan 2017 11:40:15
Europe will only get an extra 3 qualifications places! New manager need asap.

10 Jan 2017 10:30:49
Not sure if RTV are showing the friendly with leipzig, but just noticed premier sports are broadcasting it from 2.25 Sunday so should be able to pick it up through many of the decent streams.

10 Jan 2017 11:42:03
I thought we were playing them on Saturday mate

10 Jan 2017 12:31:42
2.30pm Sunday

10 Jan 2017 14:19:20
Cheers guys I thought it was Saturday we were playing red bull

10 Jan 2017 10:14:34
stoke made a bid for berahino according to sky sports

10 Jan 2017 11:41:06
Doesn't matter who bids for him, he won't be signing for rangers, more chance of signing van Persie.

10 Jan 2017 08:54:33
With Hyndman signed and hopefully Toral too, we've a chance to revamp our midfield and freshen things up. With Rossiter due back it will be like a new signing too. How about a midfield four of:
Rossiter, Hyndman, Toral, Windass?

Resting Halliday and Holt might do them good. We've been unlucky with the Barton fiasco and Kranjcar's injury and injuries to Crooks and Windass too. Maybe our luck will change in 2017.

10 Jan 2017 09:40:12
As I've said on here many times before. A lot of our midfield problems can be solved very easily, and by one man. Barrie Mckay.

10 Jan 2017 10:03:00
Midfield problems solved by Barrie?

10 Jan 2017 10:30:12
A lot of them aye. Creativity, forward thinking, pace. he's already shown he can be a number 10 and currently he's better than what is in there

10 Jan 2017 10:38:51
Got to agree Bryan, I've been saying for ages mate that the creative mid we need is right under our noses and the management can't see it. the 2nd half of the dhims game he sould have bn put in ther when Brenda doubled up on him and warbs left him out ther to dry

10 Jan 2017 10:42:26
Totally agree Bryan. Mckay would be terrific in that role and have thought that for a long time.

10 Jan 2017 11:11:13
Yeah I fancy him in number 10 role but at same time we need strong holding player to compliment him

10 Jan 2017 11:42:10
Who plays wide if Barry moved inwards? Are we switching to 4-4-2 with a diamond? I actually think that would be very effective.

10 Jan 2017 12:20:00
Joe dodoo can play out there. As can moh and waggy. Whether any of them are here come january is another matter.

11 Jan 2017 09:16:23
Doiger, that looks a very good midfield quartet mate, but we all know warbs will play 3 in there! So 3 from the 4 you said plus a front 3 of miller, berahino, mckay for the remainder of the season would do me! lol! If only mate!

11 Jan 2017 09:41:47
A bit of an optimistic post. We're more likely to hear at the end of the winter break that Rossiter is 10 days away from rejoining training.

10 Jan 2017 08:21:59
We need a new board, top to bottom. Then we need to replace the management team, the recruitment and create a scouting network.

That's what was needed 2 years ago!

Looks familiar too me! That's STILL what we need. We have moved a very small distance in 2 years. Had we not moved up a league the actual distance we have covered would be almost impossible to notice.

It's January and we're in the arse end of the market. It's nothing other than pathetic. We have NO determination to change it. No desire to turn it all around and fast. The only passion comes from the fans. Not the team, not the management not the invisible board. The board is scared stiff of taking risks, petrified of taking bigger risks and them not paying off. Well that's not how football works. the only result we will get with our current approach is medriocrity. So if you want caution and time then for me failure is inevitable. Barring some kind of miracle that doesn't involve the changes I've mentioned, Celtic will smash well beyond 10 in a row.

10 Jan 2017 08:51:27
I believe sir Walter of the smiths has issued a statement saying something similar, and that is a man i do respect, someone who should not be ignored.

On the other hand, i do hope they ignore his advise, it will be great news from us manky soapless mob across the city. History in the making.

10 in a row.

Plus more.

Hail. H

10 Jan 2017 08:55:39
I would suggest that you are being a bit unfair on the Three Bears and the Far East guys that have already ploughed money into the club although I cannot disagree with you on King who so far has been nothing more than talk and bluster.

In terms of appointing a new management team, unfortunately the Club got that badly wrong when Smith retired and the hapless McCoist and his pointless Assistant were given the top jobs at the club on the footballing side. You might argue that what then ensued would have happened anyway but with a league winning team, (and McCoist surrendered a sixteen point lead that first season), and a run in Europe, who knows what would have happened!

Warburton is well respected by managers like Wenger and that is why we are seeing quality recruits in on loan. We would, I am sure, also see quality recruits on permanent contracts if the money was there to allow us to compete in the transfer market, (as Celtic do), and to go after Bosmans on pre-contract Agreements.

We need investment and as has been said before, if King is not prepared to invest in the team, as he has said many time before, then he should look to sell to an Investor that is prepared to put their money where their mouth is!

10 Jan 2017 09:00:57
Its how business works GDog! you're entitled to your opinion but I for one are glad they aren't taking risks especially the bigger risks that you speak of! Yes we are in the 'arse end' of the market but there are loads of good players available there with the added bonus that they are FREE so that's how business works buy low sell high! That is the way ahead for our club and it may take time but the fans muat stick with it as without us fans the board and playing staff have no chance

10 Jan 2017 09:04:17
tad doom and gloom mate. Things aren't all that bad.

10 Jan 2017 09:26:06
I don't agree with spending a fortune in the transfer market until we are able to generate more money. That would either come from retail or sky high season tickets and I bet that wouldn't go down well with everyone wanting to invest millions on players.

King as much as he is a majority shareholder in his own right has little share power on his own and could easily be muscled out of the boardroom and have no say.

I think this is why the article he has been trying to pass at the agms are important to him as he and friendly investors can solidify their position on the board.

If he puts millions in again he could be out on his backside if there is a change in politics again.

Im just saying its a possibility

10 Jan 2017 10:25:32
G, dog that's pure bull, it's not the board that's holding rangers back, it's Ashley and co, fact.
I can't believe you can't see that, we can't progress with him there constantly messing with us, that's why their hasn't been major investment, with him constantly taking money from the club, I would hate to think we're we would be right now if this board never got control from them. listen the days of rangers taking major risks cash wise are over, just back the club, because we are moving in the right way, this board has already put at least 20m into the club, what did the last board do, apart from take money out the club, and btw they are still taking money out the club, just accept the fact were skint at the minute and support them, the quicker we get rid of Ashley and co the better, hopefully we will get a result at court soon as the case is being heard in march i think.

10 Jan 2017 10:43:44
'The board are scared stiff of taking risks' oh dear is all I can say.

10 Jan 2017 11:05:10
Every Celtic fans just uses the same dried up stinking patter. It was miko and the Jedi for a while then dimalloy now this imposter.

10 Jan 2017 12:57:55
g'dog u are entitled to your opinion my friend but its not an educated one!

I along with many other rangers fans know that the reason he won't invest is the fat rat Ashley if we get him out of the way then we will do much much better plus then at least I could go out with a rangers top on and buy my boy the strips

10 Jan 2017 16:05:02
James, you are saying that you know the reason he won't invest. Is this factual because you are a personal friend and he has assured you that he will invest serious money in the Club or are you simply surmising this based on his previous comments. After all he is a good Orator as of course was David Murray and look at what happened there!

I personally am being cautious, I am not a great fan of King because I believe that he is all talk and bluster. Until such times as I see serious personal investment from him personally I will continue to be of that view although I suspect that when the time arrives he might well sell out to recoup some of his lost £20m!

10 Jan 2017 16:20:12
Boys the Ashly saga is not enough to be holding us back to the point at which we are. As for taking risks I am not talking about putting the club at another tipping point. What I am saying is that all we will get in return with this current approach is mediocrity. In turn Celtic will hit well beyond 10 in a row.

@Delboy if you think by removing Ashly everything will be rosey then it's your own bull you need to deal with. Because what we are getting right now from King n Co. is an excuse!

@Cee I am no imposter mate I've been on here for a good few years, I've read the bull from the lads you mention. To be fair you're guilty of talking out your arse more than once, so pot kettle my son, pot kettle.

10 Jan 2017 20:17:08
Cee calling Gdog a tim eh, he's well known as a rangers man Cee. I know it's hard to hear the truth but you must start living in the real world. Just because you don't like what the truth is doesn't mean you should be immediately defensive and attack everyone. Yer in the duck, accept it and do something about it rather than ranting with defiant pish. As you say "fact" 😊

11 Jan 2017 09:33:48
I agree with your post TOMUSA! Dave king has now got to be transparent with our more than loyal supporters, afterall this is what he promised when he swept to power almost 2 years ago, this march! We IMO don't need to change the manager, we need king to back the management team a helluva lot more than he's done, thus far! Again he promised as much when he first came in! Dave king still has a helluva lot to convince me, a season ticket holder and shareholder of close to 43 years now! I also hear a lot of our supporters saying the same thing! His job like sir walter smith said today, is to find investment, that's what a chairman and ceo does, especially at a club our size with the massive expectations that goes with it! Apart from this season,2nd place is failure, simple as that! Our manager is managing a great footballing institution, with almost 2 hands tied behind his back! If dave king can't do this job to where we need to be, then certainly my message to him would be, move on and let someone else do the job that you said you would do! Times running out here, our club has to act, and act quickly or celtic will be over the horizon, by a lot more years than even after them achieving the dreaded 10 in a row! Dave king has to speculate to accumulate, NOW!
