let's spare a wee thought for Jackie McNamara and his family while he is ill in hospital.
Nothing but respect for this guy who played a fair game against us, but with honesty and a sense of fairness
at all times, which still shows today with his reporting on Scottish football and always giving us a respectable opinion.

thank you.

10 Feb 2020 23:49:21
Thank you to all Gers fans for the Jackie comments. First time poster but I felt I had to. Means a lot to us all.

10 Feb 2020 23:53:26
All the best Jackie mac get well soon. Thoughts with your family.

11 Feb 2020 05:30:54
Class boys👏.

11 Feb 2020 05:41:58
Thoughts with jackies family. get well soon mate.

11 Feb 2020 07:58:24
Just read this morning about Jackie MacNamara. All differences aside, hope he makes a full recovery.

11 Feb 2020 13:19:15
Yes must agree i hope Jackie makes a full recovery football is just a game when it comes to this my thoughts are with him and his family.

10 Feb 2020 23:05:41
This doesn't surprise me and in most probability won't surprise many fellow bears,
that hibs already rate and want to sign rangers midfielder greg docherty, who's currently on loan with them, on a permanent deal in the summer. I personally think it would be a mistake, if we did sell doch to hibs permanently. He's never been given a proper chance and run in our midfield, due to the tremendous form of the likes of steven davis, ryan jack, glen kamara, scotty arfield etc. That's not to say however that we should sell docherty, as i like quite a lot of fellow bears think he has the ability to carve out a career with his boyhood idols rangers. I think with davo coming towards the end of his career he could be davo's longterm replacement. He's a little bit different to davis now, as greg is a box to box very fit,
powerful midfielder with goals in his game.
I think getting his break at rangers and given a chance, doch still can be a mainstay in a rangers midfield. I hope rangers DON'T sell him to hibs, as jack ross rates him very highly and admittedly i do think he would be a brilliant signing for hibs and would be a superb midfielder for them!

11 Feb 2020 00:09:08
I actually think he’s like a young Arfield. I watched the Hibs game the other day and he was one of their best players.

11 Feb 2020 00:42:23
Not sure how strong he actually is tho? Played a game v them was thrown about like a wet sock. Listen i like the guy just don't think he's quite good enough for us. Certainly not starting anyway. Good squad player for the bench. If he wants to play week in week out then imo he will need to drop a level to likes of hibs or go to england.

11 Feb 2020 02:01:38
Agree coop both him and murph not given a chance, big mistake imo. As I think burton and hibs will be looking to grab a bargain.

11 Feb 2020 06:12:25
Sgl I hope the doc does well on loan and hopefully he can become a successor to Davis in the future. I think Hibs are a good move for him right now and hope he comes back better.

11 Feb 2020 08:20:26
I agree Supercoop. I've always thought Docherty deserved a chance and I think the club (SG? ) let's too many players go without giving them a real chance. Jones and Hardie are two others that spring to mind.

11 Feb 2020 09:10:17
Sorry guys - can't agree - - a lot of his passes went nowhere or were intercepted against BSC! he wouldn't get away with that playing for the famous. I don't think he broke sweat and didn't look like he was trying to either.
Although credit where its due his pass for the 3rd? goal was a stoater. (no defence mind! )

11 Feb 2020 09:19:24
Docherty will sign permanently for hibs with Kamberi signing permanently for Rangers all in all makes good sense.

11 Feb 2020 10:58:46
He was playing against BSC!
Likewise with Murphy - he is doing well in League 1. It is all about getting his fitness and some game together.

10 Feb 2020 21:08:11
Excellent statement released by club!

10 Feb 2020 21:52:44
Class. Nothing more to say.

10 Feb 2020 22:19:08
What was statment.

10 Feb 2020 22:20:17
Wow! A brilliant statement supporting our own Alfredo Morelos and condemning racism in general. Delighted that the club have now challenged the inaccurate journalism and have specifically named BBC Scotland👍.

10 Feb 2020 22:39:31
Listened in to Sportsound tonight to see if there would be any mention of why Michael Stewart was not on the programme as per usual on a Monday. Nothing said.

Must admit, I pay my license fee to the BBC but if I was a single man there wouldn't be a chance I would, can't remember it being this biased in the past.

10 Feb 2020 22:53:06
Well done Rangers on a terrific statement, it's well overdue, the way Alfie and Rangers in general have been treated by certain areas of the Media, and certain Broadcasting Organisations.

11 Feb 2020 00:13:02
as good as the statement is, I’m afraid it’s just that . a statement and talk is cheap

what are our club actually doing about the unchecked scurrilous lies about our players

backhanded comments mean and do he haw - we need to attack them and defend ourselves - lay down a marker let everyone know we are not an easy target and def not to be messed with

action needs to be taken or the attacks will continue.

11 Feb 2020 07:29:55
Have to disagree on the statement. A big topic but delivered in a spiteful and small-minded manner, much like many of our more recent statements.

No one likes us and we don’t care? I do. And lowering ourselves to that level won’t help.

11 Feb 2020 10:14:26
so vilifying a 12 year old who is supposedly innocent until proven guilty to score brownie points is class? This stinks of pettiness and bullying in the highest order.

11 Feb 2020 12:44:34
Drop all charges the boys only 12 people.

11 Feb 2020 17:44:26
Bruised bear the clubs been vilified for their silence then as soon as they say some thing they get shot down again!
I couldn’t disagree more these people need called out things said to date are shocking DAVIE Provan basically saying if you’re not happy your in the wrong city Roger Hannah saying he maybe didn’t understand the words As racist maybe it was just normal abuse? So they normal abuse is ok
I’m delighted at the clubs action and find it incredulous you can find fault in it.

12 Feb 2020 16:21:30
BBS. I don’t recall the club being vilified for their silence. However, my main issue is not the fact that Rangers has made a statement, it is the type of petty, attack-dog statement that has been made. I think the tone and language is all wrong and I have thought the same about many of Rangers and Club1872’s statements. I prefer a dignified Rangers. The current PR machine is one of poison and is in no way conciliatory at a time when I think the club needs to be. We are in danger of losing a generation of fans due to our recent troubles and lack of success and we need to be doing anything and everything to reverse this. And if that involves eating a bit of humble pie, so be it.

10 Feb 2020 21:07:17
ALEXA , what will Rangers win be over Kilmarnock on wednesday.

Hope for a win and NO feking injuries.

10 Feb 2020 17:50:51
I see Jackie McNamara has been taken to hospital after collapsing. No bigoted, vitriolic posts please. I wish him and his family well.

10 Feb 2020 17:59:40
From a Forest Fan well said mate.

10 Feb 2020 18:06:34
Good luck Jackie McNamara. Apparently a brain bleed.

10 Feb 2020 18:25:27
Hope he's ok still young.

10 Feb 2020 18:39:38
Well said ger4life. let's hope Jackie makes a speedy recovery👍.

10 Feb 2020 18:41:23
Ive aimed some banter towards him over the years but never wished any ill of him. Just another lad making his way in life. Get well soon Jackie.

10 Feb 2020 18:55:51
Get well soon Jackie McNamara.

10 Feb 2020 19:21:43
Yip get well soon Jackie. Same age as me. Speedy recovery.

10 Feb 2020 20:16:19
Thoughts with Jackie and the Celtic family. Get well soon sir 💙.

10 Feb 2020 20:20:29
Never really minded McNamara as a pundit to be honest. Obviously leans towards them but never takes it too far. Get well soon Jackie mac, life is way more important than footbsll 👍.

10 Feb 2020 20:40:56
No matter what we thought of his punditry, no one deserves what has happened to him. Hope he recovers.

10 Feb 2020 21:24:39
Football is a distant second, when you hear sad news about anyone's health. My thoughts and prayers are most definitely with jackie mcnamara and his family at this most difficult time. Right behind you jackie and hope you get back to full health soon! God bless! As one of the rangers family i'm rooting for you pal.

10 Feb 2020 22:33:19
All the best to Jackie, I hope he makes a full recovery.

10 Feb 2020 22:36:01
Aye, good well soon Jackie. Younger than myself and shouldn't have to go through what he is going through.

10 Feb 2020 15:14:58
I really am getting fed up with these pages morphing into a schoolboy playground. These pages are supposed to be all about banter and rumours about our beloved team. It is now all about who can spell properly and, making an opinion a fact. Grow up for fu#k sake. We are all supposed to supporting the same team.

10 Feb 2020 16:19:13
Yes totally agree. People have an opinion. Good and bad. Just seems on here if you say anything bad about the tean its frowned upon. I've supported the club for 40 years, been a season ticket holder etc. If people don't agree with your opinion then tough. We can all have a say.

11 Feb 2020 09:03:40
I don't comment on here often as I have genuinely thought for a long time that the majority of posters on here are still in primary school.

10 Feb 2020 05:48:37
A cousin of mine from england was up visiting over the weekend (hes a chelsea fan) and something he said caused a bit of heat as i didn't agree with him. he said if any team currently playing in the english premiership was to play a season in the spl they would win the league with ease. obviously there are teams that would stroll it but surely rangers would give some of them a run for their money. burnley brighton etc. what do you lot think.

10 Feb 2020 08:46:46
he is right.

10 Feb 2020 09:40:06
Aberdeen gave Burnley a good game over 2 legs in Europe a season or two ago so I don’t agree. Any EPL team would obviously at worst be competing for 3rd, but for the teams in the bottom half, I don’t buy that they would come up here and just dominate.

I suppose the logical flip of that argument is that if the Old Firm played a season in England they would both be relegated? Wouldn’t see that happening either. Lower mid-table finishes for both I would think - 12th-15th kind of range.

10 Feb 2020 12:08:32
He may be right but if Rangers and Celtic moved to England (which I don’t think will ever happen) they would then share in the huge wealth and then because of the size of both clubs they would attract top class players to play in front of huge passionate crowds they probably have a bigger world wide fan base as any club in the EPL so to compare the two leagues as it stands in unfair.

10 Feb 2020 12:36:00
Absolute no chance. The likes of Newcastle are terrible. Limped there way passed oxford over 2 legs.

10 Feb 2020 13:15:38
Liverpool chelsea city spurs definitely. Man u arsenal probably although think us and celtic could compete with both at the moment. Prob no for the rest.

10 Feb 2020 13:43:34
total nonsense, teams like newcastle, brighton, bouremouth. burnley would have no chance, either would west ham shelf utd etc. The best player at norwich is a Celtic reject.

10 Feb 2020 14:18:34
Rangers and Celtic top 8 in EPL for 2 or 3 seasons then would start to challenge for top 4.
Both miles/ years off Man City and Liverpool.

10 Feb 2020 15:27:25
Hes deluded both us and them would take care of bottom. half of epl no problem.

10 Feb 2020 17:22:56
If they brought there own refs then they would do well but it wouldn't be a walk in the park. If we used our refs then who knows.

10 Feb 2020 17:47:23
Rangers took 4 points out of 6 from porto and Celtic took 6 out of 6 v lazio. Not a chance in hell every prem league team would do that.

10 Feb 2020 20:03:57
and put it another way if any of them came up here and had to settle with our income they would all be bankrupted within a month.

10 Feb 2020 05:47:28
For all the Kent critics, watch the run and cross for Aribo's goal.
He has to get away from not 1, not 2 but THREE Hamilton players!
And for all the Aribo haters. Watch the class finish in the same move. 👍.

10 Feb 2020 06:34:23
Can't argue with anything in your post there Agent Ghost.

10 Feb 2020 08:06:41
Both are quality players in tight situations, those who are criticising have their opinion, but, I'll take Steven Gerrard's opinion over theirs.

10 Feb 2020 08:31:30
i’m not an aribo hater, far from it but i don’t think we’ll win league with him in the team irvger he just doesn’t do enough for me

only my opinion, which i’ll be absl delighted to be proven wrong but we don't dominate games enough and at times get bullied

i’d prefer hagi up top with kent either side of fredo with arfield jack and davis in midfield.

10 Feb 2020 09:55:43
Aribo has 7 goals so far this season and is probably going to finish the season with double figures. I know he has played in the front 3 out on the right but he is a central midfielder and its great to have goals coming from midfield. He is an absolute class footballer but sometimes the rough and tumble of the SPL sees him drift out of games. He will toughen up and he will be a vital part of our success going forward. He will certainly make us a lot of money when he leaves. Kent is a great player as well. I didn't see the game on Saturday and when I managed to watch the highlights last night I thought he was on fire. i'm aware that highlights don't paint the whole picture but he laid a few chances on including Aribos goal and had a few decent efforts at goal. Judging by the comments that some posted during the game on Saturday you'd have though he was having a nightmare.

I like to think i'm respectful of everyones opinion but some people are unwilling to give praise where praise is due if it goes against their already formulated opinion.

Kent and Aribo are certainly among Rangers 5 best players at the moment. that's my opinion.

10 Feb 2020 12:47:48
Kent is undoubtedly a class act, but, as with most wingers they will have off days or just be a bit off in spells, Davie Cooper being a point in case. Aribo has shown enough to me to see that he is going to be a top player. He still needs to sharpen up a wee bit as the sheer speed and ferocity of the game up here doesn't allow any kind of dalliance on the ball. When he is really in the mood some of his touches are sublime and the finish for his goal was sheer class. It is very difficult to take the ball coming across you on your wrong foot and guide it so accurately into the corner. Also thought Kamara was very good after two or three poor games for him. I think we also miss Jack. Hopefully be back very soon.

10 Feb 2020 13:22:48
I don’t know why anyone’s doubting kent, best in the league at his position. Defenders are frightened of him. Aribo is good just needs to do things a little faster as he slows things down sometimes. It ll come though.

10 Feb 2020 14:01:50
I was at the match. Kent and Aribo were our best two players, and Davis was so good when he came on. The thing the haters of Kent and Aribo don't get (or don't want to) is that they attract opposition defenders to them, creating space for others. Most of their good work doesn't show up in stats like 'assists' as they make the pass or the move or the run that leads to the 'assist'. Of course, many on here would rather we signed hammer throwers and thugs than proper footballers.

10 Feb 2020 15:45:07
It was indeed a lovely run from Kent to set up Aribo, I just wish he would do it more often instead of cutting back and inside. He certainly has the speed/ ability to go outside defenders and skin them, maybe its a confidence thing, but he's got the tools to do it! I suppose I'm from the "old school" who loved to see wingers flying past full backs!

10 Feb 2020 21:02:41
Over to you swagman.

10 Feb 2020 21:25:12
What about me? Kent has bags of ability, not denying that, but he doesn’t score or assist enough. I don’t fully blame him for that though, not sure whether it is our formation or what, but he doesn’t take his man on, try a killer pass/ cross or shoot enough. 99% of the time when he gets the ball he just cuts inside and passes it back to the midfield. My frustration with him is that he clearly has the ability to do more than he does. I don’t understand why I seem to be the only one who remembers what Rangers standards are? One 8 out of 10 performance every 6 or 7 games doesn’t excuse 5 and 6 out of 10 performances the rest of the time.

10 Feb 2020 21:47:58
I think you are are basing Rangers standards from our past when the team was made up mainly of stars. I agree we could be playing a lot better. Do you ever think for a minute that Kent is hesitating when trying things due to the constant groans and howls from the stands when he makes a mistake. 1 thing for sure is he never hides and as for joe aribo a blind man can see the talent the boy has. I feel he is just taking a bit of time to adjust to our game but will come good. People slate the UB but at least they have the players backs no matter what. That was a very constructive post from you, 1 of your better ones without being on the same few players case all of the time.

11 Feb 2020 00:11:43
I want to make something clear - I NEVER get on the player’s backs at the game. In fact, I’m always here defending the whipping boys like Halliday who give 100%. My only issue is ever with players who I don’t think are giving as much as they can, but again I only vent on here, I only ever support positively at the game.
