Watched mackay tonight against Wales squad player at best I think usual type of smith started left mid moved to left back , looks like ally going to continue with this crap about being able to play in 2 or 3 positions

Anyone know what Morrison is rated at? Would happily take him to us

Also anyone else think a 3-5-2 is the way forward for us?

Believable1 Unbelievable3

I would just rather see a 4 4 2 all the time tbh. If we can get 3/4 more players in i'll be happy. Morrison would be a cracking signing but he's probably out of our reach financially. Has he been linked with us in the media or is it just banter on here?

Agree0 Disagree0

We played that against malmo at ibrox and they ripped us apart in 1st half ...bigt

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry guys but he's way out our range, im guessing 6-7m Probs with decent wages

Watching the Aussies turn over Wales and the boy McKay certainly knows how to put a tackle in and has a half decent left peg as well ................

He looks like he passes very neat and quick as if he's thinking a couple of moves ahead of the pace. Neat, tidy and busy. Could be a real find IF we can seal the deal.

Also, those with a 'good source' please don't waste my jobby break by talking rubbish. Wee joe down the pub is not a good source, unless you know whyte/smith/mccoist/durrant/mcdowell /brown/neil Murray/ colin stein or her majesty the queen you don't know anything. Why would they tell you anyway?

Rumour from colleague down under - it's being reported that Lucas Neill might be in the frame for a move to the Gers. Good right back with some grit to maybe give Whittaker some competition - available on a free after being released from Galatasaray. Worth a punt.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

This wud be the Lucas Neill who turned down a move to liverpool 3 years ago to sign for west ham coz they offered a better wage? The same lucas neill who is prob on about 50 or 60k a week at the turks. Get a grip ya walloper

I was at the Scotland U21 game earlier and a few guys sitting in front of me were saying the same thing. They didn't exactly sound happy about it though

with regards this tax issue i think rangers should be finding out who from the tax office is discussing this matter with the media .surely someone should be getting their a***kicked ....bigt

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Yeah, Rangers. For not paying their taxes.

How can you continue to blame everyone except those in charge at Rangers (past and present) is astonishing

Atheist

Agree0 Disagree0

Athiest those that used to be in charge are to blame not present owners and regardless of whos to blame ppl in tax office should not be leaking info to media but yes rangers only have themselves to blame

Davie c

Agree0 Disagree0

He isn't. He's wondering who's been leaking this potentially defamitory information to the press. Has anything actually even been decided yet? im under the impression we're appealing more than just the 1.4m additional fee, but the 2.8 as well?

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not blaming anyone this is rangers own doing (if found guilty) im just saying surely they (HMRC) should not be discussing rangers tax details to media ...bigt

Agree0 Disagree0

It doesn't matter if it was the previous owner (it was) or the new one. The tax is due, end of. Appeal the penalty if you must, but pay the £2.8m. It's overdue.

So much for the £60 million rangers would pay on tax, it's on BBC site that the fee is £2.8 million and a penalty that rangers are disputing of £1.5 million or so.
I agree with the rangers spokesman that I don't think the people involved in this should be openly discussing these affairs in public, they wouldn't do that with any other business.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

It's a totally different bill I'm afraid.

If Rangers let Gregg Wylde go i will not be a happy Ger Hes only just broke threw into the first team and now he may be leaving? what sense is there in getting rid of players as soon as they start to develop? Rate him higher Ortiz....

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Well he wont sign a new deal as he thinks hes better than he is ...hes only played half a season and he think hes a superstar....bigt

Agree0 Disagree0

I certainly do not want Wylde to go, but on Ortiz the guy has been played out of position since he arrived, let us judge him when he is played on the right side.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm just back from the Scotland U21 game and Wylde was rotten. If he's not wanting to sign a contract then he can go. I do rate him better than Ortiz at the moment but maybe there is more to come from Ortiz (hopefully). I think Wylde has to work harder when he's on the pitch and work on his first touch off it.

AMSTERDAM — Ligue 1 side Auxerre have taken the lead in a three-team race for Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu, MLSsoccer.com has learned.

The US international has long received interest from Turkish outfit Bursaspor and an English Premier League club has also been calling of late, but it is French side Auxerre that have advanced talks for his services.

Though Edu's agent, Lyle Yorks, did not wish to comment extensively on the situation, he did confirm to MLSsoccer.com that Auxerre were very interested in his client.

The Blanc et Blue opened their season with a loss at Montpellier last weekend. Meanwhile, Edu and Rangers have already begun both their league and European campaigns, garnering four points from their first two Scottish Premier League matches and suffering UEFA Champions League elimination against Swedish side Malmö FF, which sent them into the Europa League playoff round.

The 25-year-old has now started 30 consecutive matches across all competitions for the Glasgow club. That streak may be in jeopardy when Rangers travel to Inverness on Saturday, after Edu was forced to beg out of a midweek US national team call-up with a calf strain.

What we (well over) paid for Lafferty is irrelevant. It's what he's worth now that matters.

Like for Bougherra, getting £1.7m was ok I thought even though we paid more to get him. If they're just going to walk away for nowt in a few months that's obviously the deciding factor. The sum paid some years ago to get them is of no consequence whatsoever.

£2.8 mil is NOT the final tax bill. It is a separate issue from the Image rights fiasco which has yet to have an accurate figure attributed but if it goes against then will be in excess of £20 mil

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Whyte knew about the 2.8 million tax bill months ago before he bought the club,he also said he would pay this, why cant he just pay the cash?everyone else has to pay tax.the lack of information regarding the larger tax bill is worrying, hes either very confident or very foolish, time will tell.

You've no got a clue if you think Lafferty is a good footballer. Jesus Christ he's awful. Can't control the ball, is poor in the air for a guy at 6' 5. His goalscoring record is god awful. He can't hold the ball up. Can't bring others into play. He's had about a dozen OK games in 3 seasons. Yes he tries and I don't doubt that he loves Rangers, but a good footballer? Gimme a break pal. Bottom line is, ability wise, he's not Dunfermline class never mind Rangers.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Lafferty is actually 6.2 so get your facts right

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you might be wrong about big Laff, had a few injuries in those three seasons and when fit , he was played out of position more often than he was as a striker[ by a mile his best performances were as a striker] and when he regains fitness and is used by Ally as a foil for Jelavic, then im sure Lafferty will have the last Laugherty.RR

Agree0 Disagree0

U must be a septic fan big laff is superb just needs more consistancy

Agree0 Disagree0

Im a celtic fan and when lafferty is on his game anyone that says he is s**t is clueless beat hearts single handedly last season any1 that can do has to be worth 2 million of anybodys money

Agree0 Disagree0

He was a stick out in thr later part of the season when played through the middle, and has been missed at the start of this one [particularly against Malmo] since he is the only player we have who is willing to run with the ball at opposing defences

Agree0 Disagree0

hi ed,

I'm sick of coming on here to find our so called fans constantly moaning about signings and not looking forward to the new season. Remember a few months ago everyone said we're doomed. Without Mr whyte we would be finished. Why don't you all get a grip and get behind the team. Half of you just depress the positive rangers fans.

In Ally we trust

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Without Whyte we would not be doomed. Murray would probably still be in charge and Lloyds controlling the purse strings. It would not be ideal but we knew where we stood with Lloyds. Christ we managed to sign Jelavic with Lloyds there. Now the've gone, or have they, we cant put a accepted bid in for anyone valued over 2 million by the selling club.......Stop being an apologist for the current regime

Agree0 Disagree0

Apologist i don't think so, I'm remaining positive. Yet you go on about david murray still being there and the bank running the club. I bet you were one of the hypocrits who complained about the bank running the club. Mr whyte has not amassed a fortune by being silly with cash. Why do we have to bid over 2 million quid to buy a good player. Theres plenty a bargains out there and you probably have never heard of the guy verhoek until he appeared in the papers. Whilst the transfer window is open i'll remain positive, theres 21 days left until it closes. Why rush into signings

Why don't you let the regime settle before tearing it to shreds

That really would be the final insult wouldn't it, having put up with years of his pish, if he did finally turn the corner but chose to walk away at the end of his deal if we'd turned down reasonable money 4 him. We're left holding our person as usual

Can't have long to go now surely, it feels like he's been missing unbelievable chances for some years now anyway

Guys, i really do not think we are far away with one other good centre back signing, i ran a few options playing 4-1-4-1 with Bartley sitting in front of the back four, and to be honest with the arrival of the aussie and yank in january[if not before]and ness returning plus perhaps if we see ortiz giving game on right i believe we have many options. Come up with your own team and i think you will be surprised at our options. 4iar

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Ortiz's problem is, he's not quick enough as a forward, however, having watched him , i'd play him at right full back, and he has played there for Almeria......i was at the hearts game and Ortiz doesn't have that wee bit extra to go past defenders, however i think he is 'as' quick, just not quicker, therefore i think he would be fine in a defensive role.

Well its like a double edged sword.

Everyone complaining the other day about the wee man/rangers being wide mouthed frogs, tell the whole world who they were chasing and now nothing, it’s very quite.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Think you ment quiet? but yeah i agree ally cant win with some of these fans.

A few points that will not go down well:
1. Goodwillie was never signng. Categorically made it clear to Utd and agent that wanted to head south. I quote "supported Rangers when I was about 10, been at Utd since I was 11, they're the team I grew up supporting". Source close to player
2. The HM case is defintely coming to a head, contact close to case and ominious outcome regardless of the bluster spouted.
3. Signing policy - most clubs frightened off by terms. As with most clubs looking to pay instalments with very little upfront it at all. The concern over administration making selling clubs force the issue over cash up front

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I am begginning to think that Rangers are less and less confident of winning the case against HMRC and are preparing for a financial "rag dolling"

So far the financial outlay has been zero despite what Mr Whyte claims to have put aside for transfers.

Nearly every day we hear that signings are iminent and nothing happens, lets face it we must be getting down to 4th, 5th or 6th choice players by now and i cant see it getting any better.

Not looking forward to the season ahead

Well if its the 2.8 million tax thing thats in the papers im not worried about losing that lol.

Bobby williamson has just commented on ally mccoist on andy gray and richard keys show on talksport.
Andy gray 'you must be pleased for ally becoming manager at rangers'
Williamson 'im not actually, I don't know why hes done it. The guys a legend and could have done other things in football (pundit/qos) and he has taken the job at a difficult time where it looks as though he wont get money to spend. HE HAS PUT HIS NECK ON THE BLOCK HERE and his reputation as a legend could be damaged. You know what fans can be like'
Lets give ally the respect he deserves. Williamson was spot on. He didn't need to be a manager, he chose to be. The guys got a set of balls for taking the job so good luck to him.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

SUPER ALLY has bigger balls than alot of people he has been knocked down more times than frank bruno and came back up with his cheeky chappy grin and rammed it down people's throats, the bit I don't get is people saying he has no money to spend he does he just wants to make sure he is getting value for money look at wee lemon last season we buy any player dot.com, the report out today in record states ceptic have a 30% higher wage bill than the GLORIOUS RANGERS wee lemon would win champ manager any day the report also says ceptic can't sustain paying these wages with no champs league football what they will do is they will have to sell kayal or izzy to offset this hardly great management there is it my point not the report in record before any of the manky mob who read our pages correct me but anyway who gives a s**te about them lets take williamson's point why has SUPER ALLY taken RANGERS job answer it is RANGERS ya person that is why SUPER ALLY is a legend and williamson is not

Whyte was out of his mind at the Malmo game after the result. He was sitting in the bar by himself smashed... What a poor representation of our great club. Give Ally the support he needs it badly.

Well if the figures leaked on tax implications is correct [2.8ml] it is hardly the '' shut the doors'' situation that many of our somewhat biased local newspapers were suggesting.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Think this is separate Tax case, Big one due in the Autumn

Agree0 Disagree0

We can pay that with the 2.8 million we saved on goodwillie.

Thats not the case this is the 1 that popped up just be4 whyte was to buy club

Dont know what other bears think, at this moment in time we really are a laughing stock. Every player we seem to go for we bid too low and loose out. We've gone for good players and lost out, is this a smoke screen so that we end up with a second rate squad put together on the cheap???

the people who post these ``fact``rumours of definite signings and sightings that turn out to be total rubbish should be barred from posting on this site,,i an fed up getting my hopes up only to be brought back down to earth again after finding out the player mentioned was in fact 500 miles away and not having a cup of tea at murray park

Good morning to all bears.
Well yet another day has came to pass and we are still languishing in never never land And going by some of the posts I do fervently believe that a few of this pages scribers have been on the fairy dust for sure, come on guy’s lets get real, stop posting this inert p**h.

I do believe that Cuellar will sign for the bears, I also have heard that interest has been generated for Lafferty and supposedly 1.6 m for Edu, now assuming this is correct then not being a rocket scientist almost 4 mil could bring you in some really good business and some for example Jamie Murphy and Murry Davidson, far better than lafalot and edu for sure, and then you still have the ongoing targets as they are called so I cant see what all the prattling around is for, it’s simples.

So lets get it on, and, I blame Smith AKA scrooge McDuck and Dr Whyte for being extra thrifty and mean with there poultry offers, embarrassing really however lets get behind the wee man and get this campaign on the road, four in a row hear we come, it’s great being a bear.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

We are not sharp enough to get 4 mill for these players. We may get about 750k and some Ginger Bottles for luck...

As for Murry over Edu, I cant stand Edu, but he is better than Murray. Dafferty is also a better player than Murphy so I cant see how doing this can make us a better team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate couldn't resist, I'm pretty sure it's paltry offers, unless he's been offering chickens, now that would be awesome.

As no-one's bothering to update the Celtic page I thought I'd wander on here for a mooch. Good stuff lads, 1IAR, here we go.......

Your editing process is flawed. I typed "Dick" for Advocaat in one of my previous messages and it came in as "person" on the post when it appeared on the site. I see it's just happened to someone recently talking about the "spendthrift person Advocaat era". This is a bit unfortunate.

Also certain punctuation marks never appear. For example, exclamation marks included in texts sent from me anyway never appear in the post on the site which can sometimes make one look a bit foolish and illiterate.

This is clearly intended for your information and not for posting.

Randolph True Blue {Ed001's Note - I know there are a number of problems with the swear filter we have to address, it is just a simple matter of time. It is on the to do list, unfortunately so are 15,000 other things! I will move up a bit in priority now though.}

if cullear is really signing for rangers and supposedly getting a medical ? how can he do that if he's injured right now? unless I'm missing something like he's fit again

Believable2 Unbelievable1

The medicals that take part during a signing are obv not what u think they are ....its blood tests, tests on brain and heart etc doctors will be able to look at injuries and how they are healing to know how they are gonna turn out many players have passed medicals whilst injured... medicals are for two things 1 to make sure the player is in decent condition and for players to gain insurance to play for the club.

ED, Sorry if i'm bringing up an older subject but there was definitely a Spanish young forward on trial today vs Dunfermline in a 0-0 draw with youngsters can anybody tell me who it was? Andy Little stated it was a Spanish player on his twitter but said he can't go into details... WATP. Thanks. {Ed001's Note - I saw that but that was all I know as well, I haven't really been following the football news the last few days though.}

Guillermo Andres Lopez, young left winger from Villareal. Was linked with a move to Barca in 2010, but still only 18. Described as a 'wonder kid' and has had a few EPL clubs interested. He has done very well, apparently, in training and bounce game.

Rangers are still in the market for a striker after missing out on Goodwillie and personally i think if we could get the boy Daniel Larsson from Malmo it would be a great bit of business. Fast, Strong, Clever and a good finisher. The perfect match for Jelavic and i can't imagine him costing too much. What yous think? Agree if you'd have him, Disagree if not.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

Why would Larsson want to come to a worse team than the one he plays in? Anyway have you seen the birds in Sweden? That is a fact... 6 points up for grabs and they got 4 we got 1.
