As John said, there is no danger of Gio going now, but Rangers would be foolish not to be looking at contingency plans for every eventuality, whether on the management/ coaching staff, playing staff or anywhere else within the club.
Also, I wonder what I'm doing on here, reading grown men almost jizzing their pants over Mick Beale and others punting Martindale or McInnes as a future Rangers manager. Absolute stormers.

I’ve personally been a fan of big Jake Cooper for years. Would absolutely be delighted if we got him. The boy is massive, he can help us defend and attack set-pieces, and he ins’t plagued by injuries. Would be a tank up here.

I also think the lad dealing from hearts may be a target after hearing what Gio said to him when he wad sent off against us and the way he spoke to him before walking up the tunnel. I know there are a lot of different issues with this one but if we really are a big club we should be finding a way not right how many we have waiting on season ticket and how many more we could get for big games. Add that to fact smelltic are making more money per game and per season. Stadium and future supporters should be a consideration not just us old guys.

He’d would appear to be our 5th choice centre half (6th if we include Helander) and would be unlikely to get on the pitch in order to influence a game. Aye keep helander who is injured all the time over katic who is available ? and I get you guys don't like helander but my point on rangers defending crosses still stands balogun last year was pretty much the only reliable defender in the air for us. How many times do we see goldson let ball go past him on deck he is scared to stick foot in because him not taking chance of scoring an og is more important than rangers keeping a clean sheet. Rangers concede goals to easily this has been a problem since tail end of 55.

Yeah but my point still stands gofirbigcf2, balogun wouldn’t get new the team to have any influence on the game. Regardless of anybody view of Sands, Gio clearly rates him and wants him playing. With regards to Souttar are we sure he’s injured? I wasn’t sure if the situation with his brother had perhaps caught up with him? Helander is a great defender when fit, I still think we’ll see him playing for Rangers again (or I hope we do)

Think Soutar on compassionate leave, also heard he had C.V., I expect both him and Davies to be winning headers in the middle alongside Goldson, heard them talking on SSB last night that we're now utilising zonal marking and it takes a bit of time to get right but when it does it works. Wasn't sure about Sands but I think he's done pretty well overall, obvs the coaching staff who work with him every day see something in him.

Back to the original topic, I hope Olaru signs, everything I hear about him is positive.
As for centre backs I am hoping that Davies soon settles in at Centre Back alongside either Goldson or Souttar. I don't rate Sands as a centre back. Defensive midfield perhaps but the question is - is he worth £3.75m or could we get better at that price.
As for our injured players, Roofe doesn't appear interested, Helander is seldom fit, the sooner both are off our books the better. As regards Ryan Jack, he hasn't looked match fit in the games that he has played but at least he is capable of donning a pair of football boots which is more than can be said for Roofe and Helander. Roofe I believe we can a fee for. Helander who I believe is in his last year of contract, I'd rather we agreed a deal and cut our losses unless our Insurers are paying his wages.
