Just seen on a couple of websites (Evening Times, Herald) that we're set to clinch the loan signing of Leicester winger Andy King.

Thommo72

1.) 14 Aug 2019 18:33:36
Very experienced player should be a useful addition.

2.) 14 Aug 2019 18:53:49
Dont see the point of it to be honest.

3.) 14 Aug 2019 18:54:07
Dunno where he is going to play the midfield is packed. Meanwhile we still need a left back and another striker.

4.) 14 Aug 2019 18:55:04
Just how many midfielders do we need to be sitting in the stand drawing a wage?

Getting beyond a joke.

5.) 14 Aug 2019 18:55:16
Good experience but I don’t see the need for another midfielder.

We need to get rid of the likes of Dorrans, Grezda, Holt, Dodoo - if we can’t get rid of them or on a decent loan I would even give them to any takers in Scotland on loan even if we are paying their wages as it’s pointless us paying them to sit about when they have no chance of a game.
Better they are doing the puddle drinkers damage at another Scottish club.

Barjonas, Atakayi, Rudden, Medube and McPake should all be on loan this season as well to get decent game time

If I’m being greedy I would like to see a left back, Kent and a striker come in - that’s what I think would push us to 55.

6.) 14 Aug 2019 19:12:48
I think this one is a goer. Gerrard just started in his press conference today that he is happy with the squad but still wants two players in every position. He said he has 5 central midfielders and may add another to make it two for each midfield spot.

Also mentioned that he is happy with striking options and Rudden will be his third striker.

7.) 14 Aug 2019 19:22:36
Blue89 we currently have 6 1st team centre mids tho.

8.) 14 Aug 2019 19:35:40
I think it’s crazy if they take on another midfielder on to the wage bill
Meanwhile as a few have already said if anything we need a left back and maybe most importantly another striker if one of our current strikers get injured, banned etc
It’s crazy to even think of getting in another midfielder we could play a full team of midfielders just now lol.

9.) 14 Aug 2019 19:39:17
Paul, Blue is right to a point that Stevie said 5, but then Stevie might not be the best at maths. Jack, Docherty, Aribo, Davis, Kamara, Arfield (if he's being counted) .

10.) 14 Aug 2019 20:06:17
Rf Steve says armies a forward player this year.
If the players we bring in are better squad players great. We could end up with 70 games this year.
I think SG has an idea what he is doing.

11.) 14 Aug 2019 20:38:02
Arfield is being counted along with Ojo for the right hand side I think.

12.) 14 Aug 2019 20:58:59
signing that welsh boy, does that mean one of our midfield is getting sold?

13.) 14 Aug 2019 21:06:49
Mr grumpy, I think it means Dorrans is done which most people thought anyway. Arfield is being considered a forward I believe. I’m not concerned about having another player because it will improve the competition for places. The thing that worries me is the amount of deadwood we have collecting a wage. Surely there is a plan to get shot of them.

14.) 14 Aug 2019 21:53:14
Good pro but King has hardly played in 2 years.

15.) 14 Aug 2019 22:24:37
Totally agree with some of the posts. LB right away and another striker. Come on SG. Been impressed so far with that signings.

16.) 14 Aug 2019 23:16:10
Like others I don’t see the need for more midfielders. We have far too many in the wage bill. For midfield whether it Ben central or wing we have so many, now I know some are out in loan and some we want rubbish of but at the end of the day they are still ok the books and costing money!

Ryan Jack
Steven Davis
Glen Kamara
Joe Aribo
Scott Arfield
Greg Docherty
Andy King
Brandon Barker
Jordan Jones
Sheyi Ojo
Jake Hastie
Greg Stewart
Graeme Dorrans
Andy Halliday
Jason Holt
Eros Grezda
Jamie Barjonas
Glenn Middleton
Ross McCrorie
Jordan Rossiter.

17.) 14 Aug 2019 23:50:06
Calm down guys! Andy King has great experience at the highest level He's on loan for a year and we are paying half of his wages!

We will move on a couple of more players that are surplus to requirements
Kent ain't coming So we need to put that one to bed!

Another striker for me and all transfer activity is complete in my eyes :-)

18.) 15 Aug 2019 00:08:26
Listen guys in Steve we trust . my goodness he’s done ok up till now . if he wants king for whatever reason then so be it . he will have his reasons even if some of us are not privey to or understand his thinking.

19.) 15 Aug 2019 02:23:05
We signed Helander to give us the option to play 3 centre halfs and 5 in midfield if needed. I believe King will be used toward that purpose.

20.) 15 Aug 2019 07:22:56
King can also play up top think he coming in the position lafferty played where they can play as a striker aattacking mid or on the wings. Nice squad player to have.

21.) 15 Aug 2019 07:30:06
i think we just need to trust SG on this

i agree LB and striker are more pressing areas we need cover and we also still have deadwood we need to shift but am sure grezda dorrans murphy holt dodoo will go

this lads a goal scoring mid who’s won EPL and is only 30 - he has 50 caps for wales and meant to be a superb pro

we will get susp and injuries if we are fighting on 4 fronts so if he comes in pushes squad and can add some goals to our midfield i’m happy

doesn’t look too good for doc tho.

22.) 15 Aug 2019 07:39:54
Isn't it obvious why he is signing duh incase Davis gets injured king is the perfect replacement.

23.) 15 Aug 2019 09:30:06
A hungry 30 year old who at International level has got to Euro semis and at club level the only player of the modern era to win League 1, Championship and EPL and did I mention Leicester’s all time top scoring midfielder.
Great signing, the more top players we have the better.
Yeah our midfield looks packed but that’s because we are injury free at the moment.
We want strength and depth to cover all possibilities especially if we go and qualify for group stage again.

24.) 15 Aug 2019 11:42:21
Fruit bear is your list for real. Hqsloan players, wingers and players who have been told they can go.

25.) 15 Aug 2019 13:00:05
If he's better than what we have then its a good signing. We don't need another striker we have Morelos and Defoe and if need be stuart can play there.
2 players for each position is key and I expect some of the fring players to either leave on loan or be away i. e. Dorrans, Barjonas ect.

26.) 15 Aug 2019 13:00:51
We do need a left back though. but only if we can move barasic on for a fee.

27.) 16 Aug 2019 05:14:03
Andy halliday take off that list. Once you get too stewart that's the cut off. halliday is no a left back. horrendous in middle of the park. No hope of getting in there again.

Rangers have given a trial to Republic of Ireland youth international midfielder Sam Kelly after he was released by Everton.

Source: STV website

Thommo72

1.) Most of the incoming players mentioned are outgoing from different teams

2.) Actually poos technically all the incoming players mentioned are or should be not attached to any club and be free agents since we can't sign anyone yet. What was the point of that post?

02 Aug 2013 22:52:15
Ally McCoist on Rangers website, denying that he has to move anyone else on to bring in new signings. He says that negotiations with Boris Pandza's agent are going along quite well but that it's taken a bit longer than expected. (no idea what that means) He's also reiterated his desire to bring in another striker and that he's received backing from Craig Mather to persue this. Where the latest boardroom shenanigans come into this is anybody's guess.

Thommo72

1.) Well after yesterday's abysmal performance he has plenty of options for players to move on. His only problem is finding anyone to take guys like Faure, McCulloch, Hegarty, Little and that is just for starters!

2.) Why would we get rid of mcculloch or little? There to of r better players.

3.) "Ally MCcoist says. ", do me a favour he is a liar and a charlatan and well on his way out of Ibrox, good riddance to bad rubbish!

31 Jul 2013 19:26:04
Has anyone heard anything about the Boris Pandza deal? I haven't heard anything for a few days and Ally has been "hopeful of a deal" for a while now. {The Ed039's Note - I would think someone would have to leave now that mobs I has signed)

Thommo72

1.) 31 Jul 2013 20:30:13
I think the deal is dead as a dodo (spelling) I think McCoist has been really surprised how cabrari has been playing along side mohnsi aswell, but hope it still happens personally! Watp

2.) Hopefully Faure. That guy looks unfit for Sunday League (in every sense of the phrase).

3.) Argyriou and Black I would ditch as well. I know Black played ok against Albion R but he's not the answer long term.

4.) Read online today that the Pandza deal has been put on hold until the squad is trimmed of the dead wood. Good to see Mathers actually taking control imo.

5.) Deal is off ' unless rangers can shift a few heads. looking unlikely but fingers crossed. ian black should be sold as soon as possible along with steve smith total pointless signing's

6.) Deal on hold until fringe players are moved on. Pandza may not hang around watp

7.) Why ditch ian black the way he played on sunday if he is consistent on that performance he's in my starting 11

8.) Ed your spot on

9.) According to the Express the move has been put on hold pending the departure of fringe players and Rangers have several players they are willing to move on including Emilson Cribari, Kyle Hutton, Ross Perry, Sebastien Faure and Anestis Argyriou – but they need to find takers first.

Let's be quite blunt about this, who would take any of them except Hutton and he is injured.

Rangers have taken Algerian and former Fulham, Charlton, Watford and Blackpool winger Hameur Bouazza on trial.

Source:Official Rangers website

Thommo72

1.) Am I the only one thinking that there may another lge reconstruction scenario on the the horizon hence all the signings just now, surley we have more than enough players to get us through to the jan window.

2.) I suppose what you have to consider is why wait until january, when all players prices sre inflated anyway, when you can sign some decent players (some easily spl quality even league 1/championship quality) on free agents now? i'd rather we signed a good few players now, and still promote our youth developmwnt, than wait til january and try to tempt some big stars to div1.

That said, I think our squad is fine as it is now with all the signings we have made. Get rid of 2 or 3 and we will still suffice til spfl.

My 2 cents. Stevemac watp

3.) 29 Jul 2013 18:17:08
I hope not. He's crap.

Blueice

4.) I would take Bouazza in a heart beat, would tear up defences in the Scottish league

5.) 29 Jul 2013 19:02:33
Always been pretty impressed by this lad when I've seen him, mainly with Charlton, Fulham and Watford. Very direct midfielder.

Although I don't thing any players are desperately needed to conquer SFL2 I feel if we can get boys in now on 2/3 year deals and have a look at them we can decide whether or not to keep them on for a shot at SPL footy. Just a personal opinion but you can get rid of players who don't cut it easier than signing players you think will {The Ed039's Note - No such thing as SPL anymore ......... just saying)

6.) The reason we are getting the boys in now is that we are getting them for free so in the long run we are saving money and have boys that can come in and paly at a high level so can only benifit the team as a hole as we now don't need to buy a full new team just ad a few boys to challenge at the top leves

MANDY93

W. A. T. P

7.) Sign him up, win the quadruple, then we can all go to the Bouazza for a few.

8.) 29 Jul 2013 21:47:37
Apologies Ed, to be honest I was away abroad when all the renaming was done and for all the difference it will make to the day to day running of Scottish Footy I haven't even bothered reading up on it. I'll call it the 'top division' until I become more clued up.

All in all my point stands that these boys are free just now and we are basically getting a 2 season minimum look at them to assess them and their ability to play at the top level. As long as wages aren't massive then I feel it's a good strategy. Bouazza is only 28 I think. Well worth a look for me. Mamidebebebe Sidibebebebebe on the other hand. I'd leave well alone.

9.) To the person who said Bouazza is crap, NO he is not! I am a Blackpool die hard, he is a tremendously skillful and pacey player. The problem is his ego, attitude and he can be lazy and ball greedy. If Ally sorts his attitude you have the best winger in Scottish football. But be wary as he has had 8 clubs in 10 years and there is a reason why. ModulesBFC87

10.) I don't think Ally is getting these boys in for the league campaign, I think he may be looking for a cup run and may think that players of the quality will be able to see off "Premiership" class teams, who really aren't of much better quality than we will be facing week in week out this season. Quite happy with squad though, maybe another Keeper, Defender and Striker but if we don't get them I think we will have the league sewn up earlier than last season.

COB

11.) MCCoist clearly wants a second striker to vary things in attack with our two trialists clearly making a difference as was seen agains Albion Rovers.

We need a striker that can put away the chances that will clearly be made for them. We saw this when Templeton came on and if we had a quality wide midfield player that would also add to our potency.

Rangers have taken former Hearts defender and 13 times capped Algerian international Ismael Bouzid on a short term trial. Bouzid can play as centre half or right back. source: Rangers official page.

Thommo72

1.) 25 Jun 2014 17:44:09
He's also 30 years of age.

2.) Zimmers at the ready!

3.) Some people on here need to decide what they want, some saying Ally looking at all ex rangers players is a bad thing now saying bad move to bring in 30+ year old defenders can I remind everyone that Man United have been looking at paying £25m+ for 29year old midfielders. Ok the quality is better but still they are looking at that age group. He would not be the first 30+ year old defender / player we brought in

4.) And what does that tell u as previous poster said zimmers at the ready players don't have national insurance nos when they come to ibrox they have bus passes

5.) 4)Players these days look after themselves more also your post is focusing on rangers signings as I said Man U are looking at spending £25m+ at players over the age of 29 years old at least the players Ally is looking at have no transfer fee. Look at big Davie Weir he was what 36/37 when he signed for us didn't hear too much moaning when he done great for us

6.) Ricger, Manchester United can afford to write off £25m, we, just in case the last 2 years have passed you by, cannot afford to write off 25p. We have too many players with no sell on value on huge wages for the league we are in. We do not have to increase our squad when we have young players we can play beside our experienced pros so that if they make it we can sell on for some funds (e. g Danny Wilson)

7.) 26 Jun 2014 09:19:35
A player who has been blighted by injuries and fall outs throughout his entire career. Not the type of player the club needs and another player over 30 with no longterm future or sell on value

8.) A bear in work heard he has only played about 30 games in 3 years. don't know if anybody knows if that is true?

9.) @4
That wouldve been handy when craig whyte was in charge?

10.) Sorry @5

11.) 26 Jun 2014 17:57:51
Heard from a killie fan he's dreadful, worse payer to put on a killie shirt in a while, couldn't keep a 16 year old out the game

In a recent poll it was revealed that almost 50% of our fanbase are supporters of an independent Scotland (I'm one of them) . Isn't it obvious to even the most fervent uk nationalist gers fan that having a union flag on our away strip would alienate the indy half of our support especially in this political climate? As for whether we're Scottish or British, we're both! In fact when we become independent, (fingers crossed) we'll still be british! I have no probs with being british, it's being in the uk I have an issue with. Now can we end all the political talk and get on with what we're here for which is football. We're all Rangers fans here after all.

He'll obviously sign for an English club, the division one scotland bit isn't an issue though. Rangers are obviously no ordinary div one club but an spl club playing in the championship and a club very close to Bougherra's heart. It won't be enough though.

"Teams like Aberdeen could out spend rangers as it stands" Are you for real? With regards to the Boyd deal, even sheep manager Derek Mcinnes admitted that they could'nt compete with Rangers financially. If aberdeen were in the championship or lower like we were, they wouldn't have players the class of Boyd, Miller, Wallace, Bell and Law in their team. Surely no way that we'll get near to signing Cuellar or Boughera though.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see Clarke prove me and the other doubters, wrong and have an excellent season next season, and maybe he just felt the pressure at his first season with his boyhood idols but I'd rather see Boyd and Little at the club than the unproven at this level Clarke. Goodwillie isn't that bad a shout, although what's happened off the field makes me slightly wary.

Thommo72

The decisions to allow Andy Little to leave and not sign Kris Boyd have made me not only question McCoist's football knowledge but his sanity as well! A foursome of Daly, Miller, Boyd and Little would be a potent one but instead we have Daly, Miller and the Queen of the South dud.
