Anybody heard anything about Paddy McNair? Apparently it’s him that the other signing and not Panzo.

Paddy McNair would be an interesting one. The lad is Rangers fan and would run through brick walls for this club. Dominant enough to play CB, comfortable enough with the ball to play in midfield. I think he’s Middlesbrough captain and win their POTY award a few seasons back.
Is he a better option than Panzo? I'd say so.

When McNair won POTY for Middlesborough he played every league game that season. He's been free from serious injury for many years now. He’s played CB for club and country. last season he played 28 games at CB, and 7 times in midfield. He's played 191 games in the English Championship scoring 19 and assisting 13 times.
I had a quick look on a Middlesborough forum and they sentiment seems to be that he will move on this summer. Giving his upbringing at Man United (he knows the expectations of playing for a big club), and his international experience, I think he’d be a really good fit for Rangers. He’s physical, works hard, loves to tackle, and the fact Rangers is his boyhood team are all good signs.
This is a guy at his peak. He could come in and bring reliability, and be a leader, for us at CB.

Trusty would be my first choice too. It looks like Arsenal just signed a new big money CB and are likely to now move Trusty on permanently.
If Rangers can’t afford Trusty, and it's between Panzo and McNair, I’d take McNair all day long. McNair is a big lad who works hard and will run through brick walls for us - The fans would love him.

Id like to see both sign again but surely they can't expect a wage rise good thing is we can re sign Kent out of contract and null and void any clause that Liverpool inserted. The question is, have both Morelos and Kent been here too long and can we replace them with better. At present we don't have a serious alternative to either. Striker wise, Roofe is simply not fit long enough to put a consistent run of games together and Colak is a one trick pony that doesn't fit with Beale's style. As far as having a player with Kent's skill set, despite his not being consistent he is well ahead of any of the alternatives.
If they both go then I just can't see us signing any better players, especially since we need to sign a top quality keeper, a centre back, two midfield players and a striker just to stand still.

Gofor - understand your sentiment but if we pander to one or two players it send out wrong message - Kent and Buff are nowhere near the form of yesteryear so what do we do just re-sign them and hope for the best - like most clubs players become stale and pedestrian - I have seen better players leave Ibrox over my time and good or better players fill their jerseys so change may not always mean for bad as long as board are supportive.
I will be eager to follow Buff and Kent at their next clubs and see how successful they become or not as the case may be. New broom should sweep clean and hopefully if allowed MB can put a fresh stamp on this team as let's be honest the board have slept at the wheel as far as signings and freshening up team after we won the league - we assumed then that we were at the top of our game but football is dynamic and only one of the old firm addressed that in the correct manner and unfortunately it wasn't us.

Onewalt - Cheers - I was a bit heated earlier and gave Alf some ott stick which I apologise for but I get angry when I see my club taken for a ride at times and I don't see us clawing our way back to catch them when we have so much uncertainty re players staying/ going/ demanding more money for let's be honest average performances - let's get hungry young talented players who want to achieve and will run their guts out for the jersey. To me that's what's separated the two teams on Sunday - pure effort hunger and desire to win EVERY ball! .

My information is that a deal for Kent has been agreed but following the same route as Goldson, the current deal will be allowed to run down so officially he will be a 'new' signing and the clause with Liverpool will be null and void. I'm told that Liverpool aren't happy about this and it could be challenged when Kent moves on!
I had heard that Morelos had agreed a new contract but now hearing that he hasn't signed it. Not heard anything about a move to Spain, but frankly I don't think he is good enough to play at that level. One thing is certain, he won't get away with carrying that gut around in a higher league.
I agree with John27 regarding Lovelace, although I only watched the B Team once. Him and Johnly Yfeko look like the only two players who are almost ready to step up. A few decent players in the team, but in my view they will need at least a season out on loan to the likes of St Johnstone/ Ross County/ St Mirren level to get ready to step up to the first team level.

We need to be in a position as a club where we can blood some of our young players as we have done in the past and I am sufficiently confident in John 27's views in respect of the young players he has mentioned. In order to do this and still be in a strong position to win the league and compete in Europe we need to have the quality of player in the Team and in the squad to allow our young players to develop.
Unfortunately the current quality levels of our mainstream players is such that it doesn't allow for us to develop youngsters without them risking undue criticism as we have seen with King, as an example, earlier this Season.
Put simply, we need a fundamental upgrade in the quality of players signed for a number of positions from goalkeeper, through central defence, midfield and attack.
Beale has a style of play that he wants to see on the football park and players such as Colak simply don't fit with that style. What is more, Sakala and a number of others in the team and on the periphery of the team don't come close to the quality needed. I have said before that I do not believe that one or two transfer windows will be sufficient to get us where we need to be but we need to add four or five top quality players this summer in key positions, get rid of those that are not of the quality required, where we can, get rid of those that spend more time on the treatment table than the pitch and let's start the rebuild with players of the right calibre with the correct leadership and winning mentality that too many of our players lack.
I would also suggest that we need new blood in the Bopardroom, solid investors with ambition to be the best club in Scotland at the very least!

Yes I agree we may not get better - but on the other side of the coin we could - life is a gamble - but these guys are stale and I don't want to be held to ransom by worrying where will we be if they leave - bigger and better have left us in past and we survived - No-one is bigger than this great club No-one. If anyone coming in I would take a new keeper as I can’t and don’t trust McLaughlin for number 1
Other than that we have a team who can and think will put up a right fight to win this league
Colak is showing he knows excactly where the net is
he’s a different type of striker to what I would I imagined but he gets a chance and so far he’s putting the ball in the net
Matondo Lawrence and Tillman are all looking great additions very good additions
And so far in the league we’re doing well and it’s just the start of the season over next few weeks these guys will be more at home etc and think we will see the best of them
We need a few of the injury table in the defence side of things
Not sure what will happen with Helander and need to see how Souter blends into the team
So possibly a new keeper and defender and I think we would and will be bang there
it took Alfie a good while to score against Celtic
I can actually see Colak scoring on his first game against them
The fight for the champions league is the tough part but the league I think our squad is more than good enough now with the new guys on board ??.

I am pretty comfortable we have a stronger squad than them and pretty sure Gio has them sussed. Their defence is weak but it’s not tested enough because of how they play going forward. We need to sort out our central defence. I see Souttar and Davies as the future and following last night am more convinced than ever Goldson needs to be dropped. He’s been poor for a long time and at very key moments.

For me, a lot will depend on how quickly our new players settle since I see them all as significantly better than players like Sakala that we have signed in previous seasons.
We also need to hope that we keep the bulk of our players fit and free from suspension.
For me we need to get a number of the payroll which I admit will not be easy. Katic clearly doesn't have a future and it is pointless holding on to Helander and Roofe if somehow we can get them off the books.
I still see someone coming in for Roofe but Helander will be a struggle.
I would also be happy to see Sakala sold and replaced with a better player and I still consider our Achilles heal being the goalkeeping position. Problem is I doubt that there are any quality keepers currently available that won't cost us a fortune.

Wow! Well please feel free to give me your season ticket then. We have basically let go 4 first team players, Bassey, Aribo, Balogun and we’ll Itten (if you’d class him as that) . We’ve brought in 7. Yes we’ve been a bit unlucky with injuries and other issues to Davies and Soutar. You say not replaced Bassey or Aribo? I’d wager that by the end of the season Tillman will have a better return than Aribo did last year, and Davies and Ridvan have replaced Bassey. Give the new players more than a month to settle in and start impressing. It wasn’t long ago folk were slating Bassey after one poor game against St mirren, a year or so later he’s sold for a club record. We did a lot of business early in the window. Yes it’s always exciting to see players sign but we can’t just keep filing the squad. We still have 5 or 6 first teamers to return in the coming weeks / months as well.

My points purely we’ve had more money than ever before come into the club the past 12 months and we’re not doing anything with it. Yes of course we need to break even but the players we’ve signed haven’t exactly been exciting have they, matondo yilmaz and Davies have about 3 games played between them and cost us 12 million. We’re we not supposed to be buying them to improve the starting 11?

There’s that at least sitting there 12th man. 18 million Europa money 30 million bassey and aribo (spent about 10 ) still leaves 38 million then the champions league money takes it past the 50 mark. In my opinion we need at least 3 players that are household names not plucking stabs in the dark from Belgium and Bulgaria or where ever.
