What's everyone's thoughts on if any team came in to loan Morelos in a top league. Add ons included would you be happy? Reason I ask is if he went and scored 20 plus in the premier or France what would his value be then.

Behave loaning our best striker to a team what if he don't perform aswel as expected and his confidence goes only way morelos should go if we recieved a bid of over 15 million purely benefitting our club that is our no1 priority not to boost another club in france or england or any where else in the world we are not a small club my friend we are glasgow rangers.

2.) 22 Jul 2019 09:28:45
Bear with I thought we were trying to win the league.

I'll start this post by saying I'm a huge SG fan and can't wait until season starts.

What do my fellow bears think about SG and youth. The set-up has hugely improved and we are all talking about some of the prospects. What I'm getting at though we will possibly be going into this season again with no youth realistically being starters. If we invest in youth it must surely be in respect of playing regular first team football.

It may be too early in the process or the year to judge just wondered what everyone else's thoughts were.

I've always stated my view that if a kid is good enough then he is old enough. I don't see the point in constantly loaning out players to other teams. I realise the pressure especially now for SG to win trophies again but at least involve a couple of them in the squad every week. McCoist could have blooded a few kids when we were dumped into the bottom tier of Scottish football but didn't.

2.) 14 Jul 2019 11:02:04
To me you're right Doiger I'd even say the loans should be to premier Scottish teams at worst how do you gauge them if not.

Realistically you would want 1-2 per age group to make it. If even to get them a realistic sell on price another bug Bear of all of us at the moment. If there's a pathway to senior football then we will have a chance of attracting more talented youngsters.

3.) 14 Jul 2019 11:33:11
I never understand this, McCoist should have brought the youth players in, theory. I remember robbie crawford getting booed at a game. And all the talk at the time was complaining about the likes of. ; kyle Hutton and kai naismith.
Barry mckay, Tom Walsh, kane Hemingstone, kai naismith, Lewis MaCleod, Robbie Crawford, Kyle Hutton, Fraser Aird. These players where all given a chance and how many would you like to see in the team today. None for me.

4.) 14 Jul 2019 11:47:21
The mccoist point is not very fair mate, the standard of our youth players was appalling back then, I do hope some of the current crop break through though as they definitely have talent.

5.) 14 Jul 2019 12:08:27
Whats the option then DR I mean Barry McKay was once supposedly looking at a 6 million pound switch to liepsig.

Do we buy all our players and tail off the youth all together?

I personally would like to see us bringing youth on and getting decent sell ons makes financial sense. It's good to watch a homegrown do well too.

6.) 14 Jul 2019 13:20:25
Barry mckay was alright but I think he could have been a lot better and he wouldn't be anywhere near the team just now, for me. My point was the youth did get a chance.
I'd love to see us bringing youth through. The boys from that era where given a chance but where not good enough.

7.) 14 Jul 2019 13:25:28
If the youth are good enough then they will play, it really is that simple. The youth mccoist had were not and never would be good enough. The youth set up just now is better than its ever been so hopefully in the next two to three years we will start to see the benefits.

8.) 14 Jul 2019 13:55:39
Really don’t care where the players come from as long as we start winning trophies again.

9.) 14 Jul 2019 14:28:31
the young lads did win lots of trophys last year and have started well this year it builds a winning mentality great to see that young lads are looking to come to rangers because of our set up and hopefully will eventually play for the first team as coldo says its simple if your good enough you will play.

10.) 14 Jul 2019 16:07:30
Imo our young players are assessed in stages. First stage is having a player promoted to train with the first team and on occasions be named on the bench in say a cup game. Maybe some game time depending on the result say 3 nil up bring on for 20 min. Then loaned out to Scottish champ. Brought back again, included in first team friendlies and training then loaned out again maybe twice to English league one clubs.

Docherty is one that has taken his chance, Rossiter, Middleton and McCrorie will need to prove they are good enough to be regularly included in the first team Squad. I believe that Mayo and McPake ect are all at the first stage in their development atm.

With regards to Docherty I believe he is now in the first team squad, it's now up to him, when he gets his chance, to do what Kamara has done ie make himself undropable.

Imo each young player who has potential at 18 is given a 3 year contract, with option of a further year to progress through each of these stages.

11.) 15 Jul 2019 13:00:16
Age doesn’t matter I agree with those comments good enough old enough.
The reason they are getting loaned out is to get games as youngsters need to play week in week out and SG obviously doesn’t think he can do that with them yet.
Also if SG played them week in week out and we didn’t win the league or come 2nd it would be you lot calling for his head.

With the players we have brought in I think most very good business (might be a few disagree) but I'm reasonably happy I think we should give the club a pat on the back so far and with the proposed is aribo and kent would be even happier.

Where I think we need to get our sh@t together is getting rid of players. Dorrans looking like free Lafferty looking like free Holt probably free etc etc could we not use them as make weight for Souter or others.

Read a few posts on here saying we need another striker which I agree with to a point. What's the thoughts on if we do buy a new striker. Do we go down the Morelos model buy cheap and invest for the future or more proven experienced. We're bound to have a transfer budget for an ok striker as we've only spent £650k. Or is it youth as backup?

Bearwith55

1.) 22 Jun 2019 14:55:58
Another 250k on aribo. Feel we need to lighten wage bill and offload heap of players b4 bringing in more.

2.) 22 Jun 2019 15:25:11
Aribo is signing on Monday.

3.) 22 Jun 2019 17:09:24
I have a feeling the money is being kept to get Kent on a permanent and that’ll be a big chunk of the budget. Then as Paul says it’ll be about offloading players up until the end of the window and adding maybe one more.

First time poster long time reader and all that. Just wondered what everyone thinks about loaning players to lower league English teams surely premier Scottish teams would lap most of our fringe players up and strengthen them against the enemy. Reason I'm asking is docherty rossiter and Holt all did well but still not sure whether they'll make the grade.

Bearwith55

1.) 20 Jun 2019 19:50:18
I personally think that greg docherty will make the grade at rangers. If rossiter is completely over his injury problems, them i feel he has every chance of making the grade at ibrox also.

2.) 20 Jun 2019 19:59:43
You're probably right about rossiter and docherty point i'm really making is docherty had a great year down South has his value increased? Turnbull worth 3 mil playing for Motherwell would the spl not be the better option for our loan players?

3.) 20 Jun 2019 21:53:52
I hope docherty makes it, I'm not too sure about rossiter tho. They both done well in low leagues in england, not really a measurable standard. Hopefully a good pre season under them and we will have a couple of gems.

4.) 21 Jun 2019 00:44:56
Totally agree bearwith55. We should loan players to SPFL clubs to strengthen them against Celtic and then put a clause in that they can’t play against us.

5.) 21 Jun 2019 07:29:03
Welcome to you Bear. Some great points. I think Doc will be a star for us in time and in my opinion is already worth more than Turnbull based on the season just finished. Apples and oranges as different positions but either way, we have a top young player and I think he’ll get game time. Welcome to the forum.

6.) 21 Jun 2019 13:27:19
Tbh I can't see Docherty ever really getting the chance, which is a shame because I like him as a player. Since he's gone out on loan he's fallen further down the order with the signings of kamara and davis and if aribo signs he'll drop further. I don't think any player who's 22/ 23 will want to be heading out on loan as they should be looking to establish themselves permanently at that age. He's a wee bit in no man's land at the moment where it's hard to see the best solution for him.

7.) 21 Jun 2019 13:46:47
Agreed Zikos put clauses in the contracts for various reasons but mainly not playing against us. In Rangers/ Stevie G we trust. Excited for the new season can't wait for the start.

Only way I can see that happening is if Lafferty is going the other way as a make weight even then I'm not sure. Would love it to be true just for sh&ts and giggles mo Johnstone mark 2.

I'm assuming it would be a loan deal and as long as there's not a minimum games clause and were not paying a fortune then happy days.

Just seen a video of the 2 of them with Jack being helped up to his feet by Dorrans. Not saying it's true but.

Maybe Gerrard was annoyed but it's hardly a sackable offence. On holiday with your gfs and get knocked out. Can see it being a ticking off but nowt else. I'd put my money on it being injuries and medical staff but hope you're wrong about Jack I've got him down as a future rangers captain.

Not being negative. it's nice to have youth in the team and I'm an advocate for it. We need to let these boys get their selves through the first team dressing room door before we hype them up too much. They look promising but will be raw and we've had too many child prodigies ending up in obscurity. Give them time. We'll done to the staff for getting the youth to the point where we can argue about it though.

Buzzing for today though.

50 mil and the fat man out of my club would be my terms for them to get SG everyone's for sale at the right price.
