A few people comparing Bassey to Tierney in terms of potential transfer fee.
Tierney had 4 successful years at Celtic ( we'll not count 2014/ 2015 as he only played 2 games ) .
Averaged 42 games a season.
His issues ( well documented at Celtic ) really started to affect him at Arsenal.
Averaged 29 games a season.
Bassey has already nearly matched Tierney's Arsenal appearances in 2 years at Ibrox.
And his first season ( 2020/ 2021 ) he wasn't a regular and only manged 15 appearances.
For all Tierney is a talented player ( IMHO ) who would you prefer?
An injury prone player or a physical beast like Bassey?
Yes he still has a mistake or 2 in him.
But he has the desire, strength and fitness to rectify these errors.
Europa League Head to Head.
Bassey v Tierney
Bassey - Passing Accuracy 83%
Tierney - Passing accuracy 82%
Bassey - Crossing 11%
Tierney - Crossing 19%
Bassey - tackles per game 1.6
Tierney - Tackles per game 0.4
Bassey - Duels won 60% ( Ground 64%, Aerial 48% )
Tierney - Duels won 55% ( Ground 50%, Aerial 67% )
Pretty similar stats.
One doesn't spend time on the treatment table.
But at the end of the day, Bassey will be worth what someone is willing to pay.
And Rangers will also have a figure in mind.
Even with the blue tinted specs, it's Bassey over Glass Hips any day of the week.

I agree MPH and good stat info again palWhen arthur numan, who IMO was the best rangers left back i've seen, is saying that bassey is the real deal and has absolutely everything in his locker to be world class and capable of playing in any league, with any club, says it all for me .

When we signed Bassey, he was very highly thought of at Leicester and we were lucky to get him.

Tierney is a top top player as well like u said just going by availability alone I reckon bassey is worth the same money as tierney, as he is churning out performances every bit as good.

Also MPH the transfer market in general has inflated since Tierney was sold to arsenal so £25m not even a like for like.

MPH as Ebbe Skovdahl famously said “ statistics are like mini skirts they give you good ideas but hide the important things. I am sure there are loads of stats which would show Teirney in a more favourable light that Bassey.

I am not saying Bassey isn’t a good player but I don’t really watch enough Rangers games to comment but all I will say is he seems to have had a really good second half of the season so not sure that is enough for clubs to fork out £25m and above. Perhaps clubs will wait and see how he starts next year and that may tempt them to put bids in but I think, like Morelos before him, you guys are going a bit OTT with your valuations at this early stage in his Rangers career.

Time will tell!

Agree Sir Walter. Numan was incredible. When we signed him I think we actually got one of the best left backs in world football at the time.

Tom you may be right that Bassey will be a top player and both club’s supporters do get carried away with valuations With French Eddie and Morelos being good examples.

Stormtrooper I would say some of the posters on here do say things like £25m minimum does indicate the valuations placed on these players.

Like I said time will tell but if you do sell him and he is as good as you guys believe and get £25m remember Celtic have never really replaced Teirney with anyone as good as him.
