Morning Bears. Well that's the season done and dusted. Given we had to switch managers halfway through the season it hasn't exactly been that bad Another European final (five finals now, two more than the manky mob), Scottish Cup and lost the league by only 4 points. I think Gio has done superbly well and has shown great tactical nous. He can hardly be blamed for losing the league when asked to manage a bunch of seemingly unmotivated players at short notice. Gerrard still has to shoulder the blame for losing the league title. If Gio is backed, and the board MUST back him, he can get some of his own players in and we'll be back competing on all fronts again. Pluses for me were Tavernier, Goldson, Bassey, Lundstram and towards the end of the season, Wright. Another tainted title for the Tims but we'll be back!

Agree with all apart from 2 bits. How can SG be blamed for the title when he was 6 points clear when he left, regardless if we were underperforming at that point or not. Also your last sentence doesn’t do the rest of your post justice. All about opinions though .

Agree with John, nothing tainted with the title. They accumulated more points than us, we didn’t deserve to win the league.

I think he means morally tainted - factually they justifiably won it, but they had a massive head start. More money, a pre-season for their manager, and his own team. We did brilliantly despite the lack of all these.

Didn’t Gio win his first 7 league games?
Scoring 14, only conceded 1.
Got us through the EL group.
The wheels came of the bus after the Winter Break.
6 in front to 6 behind.
At that point Gio was flogging the same players to death, week in week out.

They were unmotivated. We'd been pumped 3-1 from hibs, morelos was miserable and the style of football we were playing had the players uninterested and underperforming. Gio did well to lift them.

When SG left we were still ahead of them no matter how we were playing.

They were in bits in the summer no manager big turnaround of players what they have done this season to win the league has to be applauded and it’s certainly isn’t a tainted title they won it fair and square.

They then all went on a Winter Break and came back demotivated and he couldn’t re-motivate them and sold the jerseys in the league?
In the meantime he got them motivated for Europe?

I will always believe that things went wrong in January. The winter close down decision and the failure of our Board to strengthen the squad, (which was badly needed), at a time when our arch enemies were strengthening seriously affected our chances to win the League and for that matter, the UEFA Cup!
