hi guys
This has taken a lot of thought and effort from me to involve myself in the stuff re union bears and protests.
this kind of protest and entitlement thing originated, imo, at celtic park with the green brigade being coveted by lawell and many others there who politicised celtic park like never before.
. there was always an undercurrent around both clubs of loyalties to factions in ireland but lawell was instrumental in actually giving a space to sing what they wanted, moving families to appease these groups, Rangers always had our own large group who never grew up. and were never actually stopped from embarrassing the club and themselves, instead of working harder to eliminate such people a space was found for singing and atmosphere, thus copying lawells act, this has rapidly develeloped into what lawell and his likeminded members had created at parkhead. in other words a monster. not all bad and not all bigots, but, getting much worse week on week, a haven for bad and bigoted to live among our support, encouraging and enabling our young people to believe these cretins and they're distorted views, just like lawell enabled over the road, both as dreadful as each other, now its manifesting itself in a very embarrassing and damaging way which undoubtedly has the potential to hurt our club to its core, people like houston are bigoted with no place in our club, its that simple, his agenda became obvious long ago, the australian thing may well be connected to friends and investors in Rangers, they may walk away because, like celtic, we give space to imbeciles, nowhere in the nation can you behave and use language like inside our football grounds, why it hasn't been acted on is purely financial and in some cases political. sunday was the worst display of singing and ridiculous behaviour outside of violence I've heard live and displayed for the world to witness in way over 50 years of following. the union bears have become the green brigade, with an internal element who shouldn't be allowed in any football ground, they are poisoning our children in clear sight, how are the same names allowed to
A) buy tickets for away grounds when the club know humilliation awaits on live television
B) remain in our stadium while singing about killing people. and demanding our club do what these clowns say with they're banners, acting like they speak for all of ibrox .
C) be allowed to carry on as season ticket holders while embarrassing the club and the name of Rangers fc
give those responsible one warning, then out, fxxk their self centred protests, they bought tickets to watch Rangers, they got to watch a championship winning team dragged from the depths, not enough for them, they want to dictate to those who actually put a hell of a lot more cash, time, work and stress than they ever will. i'm proud of what Rangers are today, not of the children of the union bears, just Rangers, our more grown up fans must start drowning out the billy boys, a more embarrassing and nauseating song i never heard btw, utterly cringeworthy, whistle or boo loudly when we hear the opening gambits of hatred. and keep doing it
make a decision now to sort the aussie trip out, the good Rangers folk of oz are desperate to see our club visit them, why should a gang stop that? our board are business people who make decisions to finance and further our club, these idiots make decisions to damage our club deeply, every single week, and its watched and laughed at across the nation yet they can't even see how idiotic they actually sound. warn them now before further damage is done.

i wonder what would happen if the powers that be warned rangers and celtic as of next season any singing of certain songs by a group inside the stadium will result in 3 points given to the opposition, we would soon see where they're loyalties and priorities lie, its the only way this can be stopped, maybe and the polis need to start acting now

Its not just the UB tho. Was get 3 sides of the ground at livi the UB are a small minority? Over 40k blasting out them out on european nights at ibrox, again the UB are very very small minority.

Paul I’m not saying it’s only them, I spent years in dressing rooms singing the sash myself, to wind a few Tim’s up, but it was different then, this is spreading like a cancer and cancers must be cut out, I would even like to hear mass whistling when rangers fans start singing this nonsense, even during an old firm game, that would be a massive step forward imo, , Paul you will find I said clearly “ not all “ I also said an element within, that’s within the Union bears, , an element looking to influence young people to join they’re crusade, they see themselves as ultras, not real Rangers fans, if we’re not careful we will soon return to the casuals off the 80/ 90s,
As I said not all, but the bigger thing is for Rangers fans to drown it out, no matter what game we’re in, and let the people who run the club decide if we’re going to a money spinning tournament down under, remember there’s thousands of Gers families would love to experience a once in a lifetime day with the Gers

Brilliant post. Agree with just about everything here. Even tho can't blame it all on UB, when large groups get away with it others follow. They pride themselves on creating the atmosphere and influencing others so action taken against them will also affect others not to copy. Also can't keep saying it's the younger fans who need to grow up, because they've just been taught and encouraged by older ones. Unless it's stamped out strongly they'll just pass it on again. Sfa and authorities make threats but how often have they actually done anything.

Amo, I think it would be pretty simple to suss out it was Rangers fans singing the billy boys, the bright tops and union flags would give them away, but I know what you’re saying mate, ,

I actually have another point which some may pour scorn on
Last year I said many times I believed Paterson had been sold quietly and a deal had been agreed long before January And imo the deal was that Nathan could play for Scotland, but less so for Rangers, he was sold almost the minute the window opened

I can see the same thing happening with Lowry, talent spotting is a highly skilled and highly paid job nowadays, Lowry is first team material right now, let’s see if there’s a pattern like Nathan’s, it is our business model after all.

The UB might be the most prominent but by no means the only guilty parties.

In every section of the ground and especially at away games (Inc Europe) there are still many fans shouting offensive and bigoted views.

In my experience, these are not young kids who are going with the flow but older and in many cases intelligent people who are mired in their hatred.

No one group is more guilty that another and it is long overdue for the club to use technology to identify and rid the club of all of the morons.

Tom agree with all you say, the rest of us need to stand up to these idiots, by doing as you say when they start all the unsavoury stuff, also club has to do more to ban these people, there are many fans on waiting list for tickets, as to away tickets club has to control issue of these better, As to Lowry I think he should be getting game time, as you say we will lose him, but let's put plan in place for him to star for us for couple of years before moving on, that way everyone wins, Anyway great post and good to hear your view.

100% agree with everything you said Tom and couldn’t of put it better myself. Have been thinking about how to word a post about all of this but no real need now as you’ve said everything that was on my mind. Our club needs to move properly into the 21st century and act like a proper business. I’m not saying the board get everything right (don’t totally agree with the lack of press access but do understand why it happened) but they are doing their best to move our club forward, bring in as much revenue as they can and ensure nothing like what happened in 2012 happens again. But there is an element of our support (whether it’s club 1872 or the union bears) that are far too entrenched in bigotry and hatred to understand what needs to be done and that we need to move with the times and modernise or we will get left behind. They think it’s their way or the highway and that everyone must agree with them. Well the fact is the silent majority don’t agree, they’re just the ones that shout the loudest to try to get what they want. I really can’t understand how we’ve got to this place? We are in the best position we have been in since everything went tits up yet now we seem to want to self destruct with a whole load of infighting brought to a head by a ‘friendly tournament’ that will a) bring in a lot of money, b) let fans from the other side of the world watch the team and c) expand our global market. And all because Celtic are involved. How stupidly petty and small minded! Of course none of us actually like Celtic in anyway, that’s a given, but for the sake of what’s best for our club sometimes compromises need to be made. I can’t see any other organisations rushing to have us as part of any money spinning tournaments in the future after all of this nonsense, we’ll be seen as not worth the trouble.

These songs, and others, have been sung since the mid 1960 that I am aware and if anything have toned down a bit in recent years. It is nothing new and there has been time to deal with it if the willingness was there.

probably the best post I’ve seen on here Tom and I agree 100%, some of these fans groups think they are more important than the club and think if the shout loud enough we will all listen, Dundee was an embarrassment they are like spoiled kids demanding they get their way with their parents and the hatred speed out in their songs make me cringe.

Great post and one that the vast majority of intelligent people would agree with. Just because the lot in the East End of Glasgow glorify terrorism, we should be above all of that. It has no place at a football ground and those fans that cling on to the historical songs and chants that we all know causes embarrassment on our Club. Need to stop. If it doesn't then Rangers FC needs to take action before the Authorities do.
I don't think that Park helped things by banning Sutton and Lennon it just gave more ammunition to our detractors.
