What constitutes a mistake costing your team anything?
And why doesn't the players who miss chances get the same stick? Or those who's job it is too create chances?
Last season Rangers ran away with the league Title undefeated, so any individual errors that cost goals or missed chances at the other end didn't matter.
We only lost 3 times last season when it mattered.
League Cup quarter final to St Mirren.
Where the full team were terrible that night and only Davis as a substitute got pass marks from me.
Kent lost the ball in the middle and Bassey gave away a penalty for the first St Mirren goal.
Misplaced pass from Balogun, Bassey gets ripped on the outside, Goldson doesn't deal with the ball into the box and Arfield doesn't deal with the midfield runner who makes it 2-1.
Brilliant save from McGregor, St Mirren player is first to react as he beats Tav to the ball at the LB post.
Rangers had 17 shots on goal, 8 on target.
Kent was also booked for diving in the box when it was easier to stay on his feet and score.
So who's to blame? Tav, Bassey, Arfield, Kent or those that missed the chances?
Scottish Cup quarter final to St Johnstone.
Keeper up in the last minute and gets a free header as McGregor stays rooted to his goal line.
Tav and Roofe missed their spot kicks.
Rangers had 15 shots on goal, 8 on target.
So who's to blame? Tav, Roofe, McGregor or those that missed the chances?
Europa League last 16, First leg.
Rangers had 6 shots on goal, 2 on target.
No one closes down the Slavia player on the edge of the right hand side of the box. McGregor beaten by a fantastic strike.
Patterson played right back that night.
Europa League last 16, Second leg.
Rangers had 7 shots on goal, 1 on target.
Red cards for Roofe and Balogun.
Cross from the right, Goldson out jumped and 1-0.
Balogun gives away free kick ( and sent off in the process ) and McGregor beaten from distance by a wonderful free kick.
Patterson played right back again.
Who's to blame? Patterson, McGregor, Roofe, Balogun or the players who missed chances.
Sometimes it's far too easy to take umbrage against certain players.

I don't blaming individuals when we loose a game as its a team that loses. Good point MR PH, highlighting that fact. I do feel the defenders get the blame rather than those who miss chances. Hope people think now after your post.

I’m sure you know a defender is an entirely different job, a striker can and will miss 10 chances per game playing for Rangers, well they used to, a defender who cat defend is a far bigger liability

Not that I’m saying your wrong in you points m but comparing chances missed to a defensive mistake isn’t right.

Missing a goal scoring chance or bad defending can both result in a lost goal and seriously impact the result.

Since football began a defensive error has always been looked on far more seriously than a missed chance, both in the dressing room and in the stands

A missed opportunity doesn’t cost a goal

Btw I’m in no way accusing Tav, even though I believe he’s been great for a season but Paterson is a better player, in my opinion.

Guys job I’m in I always say we win as a team and lose as a team …. it can be all ifs and buts ……. I’ve never singled out anyone in the blue but sometimes we all have an off day in any walk of life but to say it was him or him or him is wrong so great first post 👍.
