Although not football related, i was just wondering how many of you watched and witnessed sporting history last night, on the remarkable achievement of young british tennis star the fabulous emma raducanu winning the woman's US OPEN singles title 👌My sincere congratulations to young emma who was unbelievable and i was engrossed watching her winning the title, at the tender age of 18 years old 👌🇬🇧 She's so humble and now a grand slam champion👌
I think raducanu will win a good few more grand slams and tennis 🎾 titles in general and the records she broke achieving this is stunning 👌One of the greatest ever british sporting achievements and a absolute certainty to be deservedly named the sports personality of the year winner, when that event comes around 👌 Absolutely brilliant emma raducanu 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏.

I'm not taking anything away from her amazing achievement but she is actually Canadian is she not?

Yes I watched it and it was a great achievement for her. Gordon Reid also won the wheel chair doubles again and he's a Teddy bear so we'll done to him also.

@Jyf - moved to the UK when she was 2 I think. I would very much class her as British (I know others on here may disagree) - grew up here, educated here and trained here. Amazing performance and a breath or fresh air for women's tennis which has been stale thanks to the Williams brothers domination.

Her opponent was Canadian JYF but Emma is deffinately British.

She was born in Canada to a Romania father and Chinese mother and moved to Britain when she was 2 and spent the majority of her life in Britain and holds a British passport and considers herself British so no she isn’t Canadian.

The last couple of weeks was one of the greatest sporting achievements ever in the world of sport if not the greatest.

She was unbelievable and done it all without losing a set.

She's British! A lot more British than those other "British" sporting stars like Greg Rusedski, Lennox Lewis and the Irish girl boxer.
Regardless of her citizenship, it was a fantastic achievement considering what happened with her at Wimbledon.

Thanks for putting me right, I can assure you I was not taking anything away from her achievement I was wondering if it was a Zola Budd type of thing, obviously not.

BMGH Lennox Lewis was born in London so how can she be more British than him?

Fair play KJ, but he was brought up in Canada from the age if 12 and represented them at the Olympics. Anyway, she was absolutely amazing and a credit to the UK. Never even dropped a set! What a star.
