Ive been reading all the stuff about Heart and Hand and the MSM with great interest but I've been biting my tongue. So here comes the rant. I'm the first to admit that years ago I sang the offensive songs. Did I sing them with hate behind them? Absolutely not! Did I sing them with knowledge of what they meant? Yes! So why did I sing them? I sang the songs simply because it was the norm back then. I could go to Ibrox and belt out each and every song that was being sung with passion but after the game I would go to the pub and mingle with friends who all supported different clubs. I stopped singing the songs when I reached a position of Seniority at my work at the time and realised that I could be held accountable for singing these types of songs and could essentially lose my job.

What gets me about the whole situation is the problem we have with the MSM personalities now saying that by dragging up historical tweets from MSP's, MP's and Journalists that we as a fan base are deflecting the attention away from us and portraying ourselves to be the victims here. Let me say that I am no victim. Am I offended by being called an Orange B? No! It doesn't bother me but it is sectarianism. Am I bothered about being called a Hun? No! No offence taken. Yet it is still sectarianism. As a fan base and as a club I am delighted that we are standing up for ourselves. Just because we don't take as much offence to being called sectarian names doesn't mean its right. All we ask is for fairness. If we are sectarian then call us out but likewise its got to be called out from other avenues as well. The silence from the Daily Record is deafening.

Vwry frank and honest post Mocbear. I've never personally sung these songs but in a way I can understand why they are sung. Plain and simple, to wind people up. As you say everybody meets up after the game and its all pally again. Words and phrases like person and orange b are the same as f***** b etc and should be viewed and treated in exactly the same way. The difference is nobody can play the victim card in quite the same way as they do.

Problem is MOC u said u only stopped singing them because u reached a level in your job u could be held accountable for the songs u sung and lost your job. In my view thts wrong, u never said u stopped singing them because you thought and realised it was wrong to do so. Yes it may be banter n fun for some, but their is sections of support, a minority i may say who hate each other for sectarian circumstances, and can lead to a lot of unnecessary violence and suffering for people also outside of football, who feel victimised and prejudice against them for things tht happened many years ago in society. Its needs to stop because it is wrong in this day and age, not because it could possibly effect something good you've got going on in your life. 👌💙.

I should have elaborated Broxi. When I reached a position of seniority at work it wasn't just my job I was worried about. Of course I realised the bigger picture and the hurt it could cause. It's wrong and we shouldn't be singing these songs.

I think we could read between the lines mate that you have seen the light as it were. There will be thousands of us who have sung certain songs at certain times.

That should be in the past if indeed we have moved with the times and seen the error of our ways. That’s called growing up! It’s not just Rangers and it’s fans feeling this right now, it’s being dragged up with some young cricketers also right now. When they were 14 year old kids posting homophobic tweets. It’s fricking pathetic watching these pious self righteous groups and or individuals flinging mud to create a narrative that suits their agenda or sells a paper!

We are a mess as a society.

A witch hunt by the DR which backfired spectacularly.
Great to see all these so called journalists getting their arses handed to them.
At least the 2 H and H podcasters had the decency to resign, apologize and sign up for Rangers diversity Everyone Anyone campaign.
Let's see if the media follow suit🤔.

Slightly of topic but still related to sloppy journalism. We have Parks going going on about Duncan ferguson skipping scotland call up, Parks last person you would want on a day out cannot keep his mouth shut, all he ever does is right private stories about people he allegedly played with.
