The way i. see it we were poor against the Czechs raised our game against England and celebrated a point like we won and were simply out classed by Croatia. Putting all our hopes on a 20 old with 2 caps just smacks of desperation. We are poor and were lucky to get in through the play offs. Clarke needs to go but who's out there that would ta to. the next level.

Correct.
Celebrating getting to a tournament through the back door of the Nations League shows you how far we have falling as a Country by celebrating failure.
And then getting shown up in the group games is the very reason why we couldn't qualify normally - we just aren't good enough anymore.
And celebrating a draw against England as if we had won the tournament seemed to give Clarke and certain players a reprieve, forgetting that he's already had a poor start in the World Cup qualifying group.

Certainly outclassed Robbie .

As for who to manage, I think we have run out of options.

What got my attention after the game was the pundits commenting about it.

Especially that wee ex Scotland manager Strachen .

Did anyone else notice he looked like a scruffy wee homeless junkie staring into space as he tried to speak (probably due to his celts connections tho) .

That's pretty much spot on for me Robbie 👍.

Tom Clayton, plays Liverpool 23s centre half
George Johnstone feynoor centre half

Not so sure Hanley will be playing with scotland for next 4 years john. He's getting on a bit.

I think positive like u Tom but ultimately it comes down to having the right guy in charge willing to give these young players a look at and if good enough a chance. We need to think outside the box as currie t ideas do not work. New manager and a new national set up top to bottom. And stick to it for 10-15 years.

It's all about getting those players into a formation that works John24.
Plus none of our strikers scored from any of the numerous chances created.
We badly need a striker who will score goals at that level.
I would forsake the Qater WC and build a squad / team capable of qualifying for the next Euros and build on that.
I also wouldn't be playing players out of position. You get a tune out of them sometimes but they eventually get found out at tournament level.

Hanley only 29
Totally agree. MrPH, what is certain it’s not working just now.

100% agree, John25.
But it's not worked for years now and better squads than the current team all failed to get us out of the group's at major tournaments.
But we need to start somewhere and commit to it.
Belgium started from scratch and are now reaping the rewards.
Even Germany who've always had success at International level started again when they had a wee barren spell.
In my opinion we need to stop looking at the next tournament when a manager is appointed and tell him to build for the one after that.
With the nucleus of a decent group of players and any outstanding young talent / players that are on form to come in then we have the foundation of a decent side. Otherwise we are just going through the motions tournament after tournament.
We then end up pinning our hopes on a talented young midfielder who's hardly played any first team games for his club.
The problem this tournament was Clarke showed too much loyalty to players who had got us here but were out of form for their clubs all season. And it should have been horses for courses for certain positions in the team.

I agree ph, giggs said bear with him and young players and he would get his boys to a tournament.
We need to do this,

I think 3 at the back is just so wrong for top level football, we need to be winning the midfield battle and passing the ball, rather than long balls from the back.

The biggest part of tournament football is selecting the players who are in form at the time, not a year previously, and finding a manager who will do that and not be swayed by his blatant allegiances and irrational aversions to some clubs and players.
