Gerrard hasn't just revitalised Rangers as an attacking force since he arrived.
He also tightened up a leaky defence that was conceding far too many goals before he arrived.
In the 2016/ 2017 season ( Warburton ) , we conceded 44 goals.
In the 2017/ 2018 season ( Caixinha ) , we conceded 50 goals.
In the 2018/ 2019 season ( Gerrard ) , we conceded 27 goals.
In the 2019/ 2020 season ( Gerrard ) , we conceded 19 goals. This was also the Tainted Zoom title season and league games were stopped after 30 games.
In the current season, 2020/ 2021 ( Gerrard ) and on our way to 55, we have only conceded 13 goals.
We have conceded an average of 0.36 goals per game in the league.
0.17 goals per game are conceded in the first half.
0.19 goals per game are conceded in the second half.
We are at our most vulnerable in the 21-30 minute and 81-90 minute periods where we have conceded 31% of our goals in both periods.
We don't concede any goals between 11-20 minutes and 41-60 minutes.
Of the 13 goals conceded, 11 have come from open play, 1 from a penalty and the other from a corner.
It's no surprise given that 2 of our biggest performers this season have been McGregor and Goldson, with the later ably supported by either Balogun or Helander who have also been magnificent at times.
Surprisingly Hibs and Motherwell have scored the most goals against us with 3 each.
Then it's Dundee Utd and Celtic with 2 each. That's followed by Aberdeen, Hamilton and St Johnstone with 1 each.
Only Hibs have scored more than 1 goal against us in a single game.
Let's hope this carries on next season as we look for title 56 and automatic entry into the riches of the CL.

Yeah John when we don’t have Jack we are very open at the back. He covers tav excellently.
Also MPH the amount of goals we have lost in injustt to
W to drop points is a big one for me. It happened at st mirren then st Johnston and it happened at benfica. I’m chrious of the exact amount of goals concede late in the game/ injury time. And the points dropped because of this as I feel this has cost us big. Can we have an analysis of that when u get Time brother 🔴⚪️🔵👍🏼.

Ed Chelsea hold record of only 15 conceded in a full season
We have conceded 13 to date this season in league.

{Ed001's Note - that depends on what full season you mean. That is with the smaller league in England. Liverpool hold the record for a 22 team top flight in England with 16 conceded despite playing 4 more games. I think it was Clemence's final season they did it.}

Ed chelseas british defensive record is from 2005/ 05 season when they only conceded 15 goals.

{Ed001's Note - in a 38 game season, they played 4 games less, so they haven't beaten the previous one, just played less games and set a different one.}

{Ed001's Note - may well do, and it would be a good achievement, regardless of the quality of the opposition. It is probably harder to do so well when you had the league won so early, as players tend to take it easy and that is when goals go in against you.}

{Ed001's Note - exactly, but I was saying it is more difficult to do when you had the title sewn up early, no matter what the opposition is. When you are a team with nothing really to play for, it takes a real killer mentality to keep those clean sheets.}
