Superb news fellow bears and bearettes that rangers have now opened talks with our title winning captain james tavernier, over a new contract/ contract extension 👍🇬🇧
So if he signs the new deal and i think he certainly will, it means any club wishing to sign tav will have to pay a helluva lot more money than they would if he didn't sign his new deal 👍Win, Win guys 👍🇬🇧.

Wonder what happens to Paterson now.

Hopefully Patterson’s development won’t suffer as I think Patterson will need to play to reach his potential.

He's understudy to tav John25,
simple as that mate. Nothing's changed 🤔.

i agree john i see where you are coming from . patterson is a cracking player . would hate to lose him because he wants first team football .

Yeah John/ Coop, the Paterson situation may mean Tav moves on as that young lad isn’t going to be happy playing 10/ 12 games a season although Tav really is an excellent player and we are not the same team without him. The attacking side to Tavs game really is sensational and maybe Paterson is the better long term solution and could see young Paterson moving to EPL for big money in future as he has same potential as Tierney who is top notch! We must get Goldson, Tav and Kamarra locked down on contracts or we will be in same position as Tim’s with all their best players leaving for reduced fees✌️✌️🇬🇧.

I’d sell tav. Simple as that. We need to look long term.

06 Apr 2021 09:01:03
We must keep Tavernier. He's had a great season and is loyal and brings us a great attacking threat. Patterson is an exciting prospect but will have to bide his time. He'll have to prove he is good enough to dislodge Tavernier next season. Patterson is lucky to still be at the club after his stupidity so should try hard, fight for his place and eat a large slice of humble pie!

06 Apr 2021 09:06:29
The odd thing about Rangers' appeal and Gerrard's comments on the SFA ban affecting his career is that he faces 4 games out. Tavernier's close to back to fitness and would Patterson get game time anyway?

06 Apr 2021 09:08:20
What kind of madness would make someone suggest selling your captain and best player for 75% of this season? Paterson is good with plenty of potential but he's not at Tav's level yet! The answer is simple, Paterson out on loan to get game time, give Tav the new contract and let's move towards 56.

10.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 09:15:28
DTB, Paterson has so much potential that there is clubs down south would pay big money for him right now! He doesn’t need loaned out as this boy is that good and probably the best player to come out of Scotland for years! He is right up there with Tierney and will end up in the EPL. The problem for us is Tavs age and if we are to sell it really has to be this year to get big cash. It’s a hard one to make a decision on as I agree with you that Tav is excellent?

I agree dothebouncy

Can’t sell our captain Tav nbever missed a game rarely Ill or injured
And remember the theory two players for every position.

12.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 09:34:20
What if tav is injured again he’s cover for tav and will get odd game.

Do the bouncy. Not madness. It is known we need to sell players. It’s in the agm papers, we trade at a loss.
U sell Tav 6-7 million, u then have a ready made replacement in Paterson who will only get better. Imo short term may have a slight negative impact on team.
Say to sell Alf, you need to find a replacement, as I don’t think we have A ready made one. This has potential to seriously weaken team and negative impact.
U r right Paterson not at tabs level yet, to get there he needs games at top level, Europe and Scotland, he won’t get that on loan within Scotland. So where to on loan would be a difficult decision.
It’s a compliment to Paterson that he is good enough to play regular and has a big future hopefully with us,
I’m not a tav hater I’m trying to look at big picture and long term. At end off day SG will decide what he thinks best. It’s all about opinions.

06 Apr 2021 09:43:41
I am with John on this one sell him when we can still get a good amount and replace.

15.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 09:45:31
Unfortunately guys we can't have our cake and eat it. For me the only way Patterson reaches his full potential is now by playing games. I love Tav but every game he starts with Patterson on the bench will hamper his development. A game every month or two will be no where near enough now, he needs to be playing regularly to become to player we all hope he can be.

16.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 09:52:02
SGL

Surely something has to change. Patterson is now at a stage where he can’t be understudy to Tavernier and play a limited amount of games. Gerrard has already stated that a 4 match ban could be damaging to his development so surely it’s even more damaging if he is going to be understudy to Tavernier and hardly play?

17.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 09:55:53
Do the bouncy

Who would you send him on loan too? Tbh I think he is at an age where he needs to be playing football at a top team and I’m not sure sending him out on loan to a Kilmarnock or St Mirren is the answer. Its a very difficult decision for Gerrard to make and it’s even more complicated by him saying that a 4 match ban could seriously affect his development. That does suggest that Gerrard does plan on using him at right back.

18.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 10:01:56
Davis rangers best player this season for me bouncy.

19.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 10:09:11
So we just cast tav aside because young patterson is looking good behave yourselves! I'm sure steven gerrard will agree with that 😂 don't think so!

20.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 10:16:52
SG wants 2 equally good plyers in every position. Right back covered, next. Midfield is where we need to improve in strength and depth.

21.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 10:34:24
A wee question for you here John25.
Both your good self and me watched alan hutton breaking into the rangers team as a young man and nathan paterson reminds me a lot of hutton with their similar styles 🤔
Do you think patterson even looks better than hutton did at the same stage of breaking into the rangers team 🤔.

22.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 10:37:27
No one player is bigger than the club. If Patterson wants a regular first-team place then stay and fight for it. Tavernier may well get injured again in future and if that happened, then Patterson would have an opportunity to stake his claim. Other option would be to play Tavernier in right-side midfield and give Patterson a run at right back. Its a happy problem that Gerrard has, though a tricky one.

23.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 10:41:51
I agree paterson has to play or his development could suffer. 👍.

24.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 10:56:22
john i think that will wait a season.

25.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 10:57:15
Agree with John and KJ. I'd sell Tav if a decent bid comes in and then fill in the back up position. We don't have that luxury in other areas of the park where we have sellable assets.

26.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 12:02:10
No sentiment in football.
If Tav needs to move on to allow Patterson the game time to develop, then so be it.

27.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 12:02:13
Coop, we certainly don’t cast Tav aside, but a decision needs to be made on him soon and I am sure you would agree. Do we cash in now or over him a contract, as right now at his age is the correct time to sell. StevieG has a hard decision ✌️.

28.) 06 Apr 2021
06 Apr 2021 12:12:02
Yately01,the decision short-term is tav will sign a new deal IMHO mate 👍 Better players than patterson over the years as rangers players have had to be back up and bide their time 🤔Nathan Patterson's time will come 👍If its crazy money that gets offered for tav, then like any of our players he will be sold that's just the norm! Personally speaking, i've no doubt whatsoever tav will sign a new deal and will still be at rangers next season and like gerrard always said he wanted in every position, we'll have 2 terrific right backs, simple as for me and absolutely no headache from where i'm standing on the matter 😁.

Paterson better than Hutton, who forgets we were selling him to villa for a million but he could not agree wages, weeks later went to Spurs nine million.
