Lots of comments about how much we miss alfie. Imo our 3 poorest performances of the season have been our last 3 games ( forget the first old firm game as we just got it wrong on the day ) . Yes alfie has missed them. But Defoe scored in 2 of them. I believe we miss tav as much as alfie as the whole shape changes without him. Thoughts welcome!

Agree newblue i think tav is the greater loss the majority of our attacks when he's playing come down that side, people complaining about his defensive side but f$@k me the attacking threat in overall balance to our team certainly out weighs that.

Morelos far more influencial than tav. Morelos does a lot more than score. Gives defenders an absolute nightmare for 90mins. Defoe just there to stick it in. He cannot effect a game the same way morelos can.

Think the question is if Alfie has played in he last 3 how much he would have affected performance . Fair enough Defoe scored against st mirren and a penalty against Stranraer but it’s the other things that we miss when Alfredo’s not playing . I think we saw against Hearts that if Defoe doesn’t score he’s pretty much a passenger.

Paul i agree, in regards tav we have players at club that could do as well as him, but in alfie we have a player that would cost millions to replace, even then we won't get another alfie .

Hearts was out of the ordinary day . They had millions more than us to prove . and they did . They were simply the much more fired up team on day.

We like wee Defoe as does Gerard hence gets little stick. He's 37 and slow. Generally no real threat against Hearts. Morelos in different league, a real handful for 90 minutes plus. We need another quality Hitman from player sales. Defoe is a good guy but merely a stand in for the no 1.
