Just heard from a Man unt friend that we are getting a young player on loan, didn't give a name just that they are offering him a contract and that he would go out on loan to possibly Rangers.

John 25 - have to agree mate, we seem to be keen to take youngsters from down south 'to develop' - for who? not us.
Meanwhile our young guys are being loaned out (most likely never to be heard of again) or sold off - - doesn't exactly paint a rosy picture on a route to first team football, as I'm sure most of these guys expected.

Bar72 it is Gio's job to put together the strongest squad possible and if that includes loans from other clubs then so be it. If he does not think players from the Academy can fill the void then its his choice. Yes it would be great if they were homegrown but if not then he must use every possibility available to him. Remember that it is his job that is on the line too and he is not here to simply give youngsters a chance just because they have came through the ranks. His job is to do the best for the club as he see's fit.

I don't think we need a back up striker. I think the lad Lovlace could be back up if required. Davies will be first choice over Souttar at LCB in my opinion.

Three Cheers - i get that - - but we are not an extension of the EPL Academy system.
If they were on loan for the first team fair enough, but not in the B Team or under 18's - it must be demoralising for guys that are spoken about on here as 'ones for the future' only to to be moved on for peanuts or 'loaned out' to lower leagues.
