Morning John25

with reports now saying there has been a £5 million bid accepted for Olaru
Have you heard anything if it's from us?
And if so would that possibly point to a first team player leaving?
I was thinking Kamara possibly with a lot of interest around him. ?

Boy looks a good player
if indeed it is us he's coming too
but would love too keep kamara as he's a top player

and a good piece of our puzzle.

No stig I have not. As I said last week we did submit an increased bid for Olaru.

I could see kamara leaving in this window.

Olaru would be an incredible signing, excellent box to box player.

I don't know anything about this boy, but It would appear that a few on here rate him. Would he be a straight replacement for Kamara in the same position? I know we've only played friendlies, but I thought Kamara has stood out, and we all know he can play. Last season wasn't the best for Kamara, but during our title winning season, the boy was one of our best players who I believe can still do a job for us.

4.) 28 Jul 2022

He's an attacking midfielder, not a defensive one.

Will be interesting to see if he's in the Steua Bucharest side later on tonight.

They're 1-0 down after the first leg in the Conference League qualifier.

I'm hearing it's a 6million euros bid from Torino that has been accepted. Would be good if it's us though.

{Ed001's Note - Torino? Their head coach and sporting director got into a fight over the lack of signings made. They had to be pulled apart. There is video of it online as a player secretly recorded it and leaked it online.}

7.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 12:04:39
Agree about Kamara. I think he has been our best player in pre season.

28 Jul 2022 12:51:58
would be sad too see him go seeker he has been brilliant for us his ears ethic and positional since at times are second too none, and has that we touch of magic.

If it was rangers who made the bud and been accepted it would have been out by now.

10.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 13:17:11
realistically Ed and john, and others do you think we are done and happy with incomings or do us think there may be more, I suppose if we make the champions league we might dip again, but I know a lot have said it too but I would like another striker, can never have too many goals, and with uncertainty over roofe n sakala we could be left a bit short up top.

{Ed001's Note - it will likely come down to outs now. If anyone goes that needs to be replaced then someone will come in, otherwise I doubt there will be any more first team actiivity. You can't sign a player to cover for a short term injury, they don't want to join for that and it is not sensible planning to do so. Morelos is back soon.}

11.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 13:26:32
Two more ins. Imo

As Ed says few outs including roofe.

I was a big backer of kamara when he signed said outta the three he would have been best signing and make us a few £££ along the way. Now if! he's leaving I'm more than ok with it he has served us well and only signed a new deal as a thank you to us for resurrecting his career, and has been up front on his wishes so If! He does go will be with best wishes and good luck for his future.

Sometimes you got to change a little plus olaru looks quality think he would pretty much signal that Lowry needs to go out on loan though.

Any ideas John what areas they might be.

John25 from your experience of following the rangers for many years if you had to choose a rangers player of yesteryear that had the same/ similar style to kemar roofe,
who would it be mate?.

15.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 15:00:54
yeah Ed I agree its a hard void too fill we have great fire power
all capable n different types
morelos has it all
holding up the ball up bringing others in too
roofe if fit brings a whole new dimension
n do like look of colak
if all stay n keep fit
Good foward line
but would be good too get a replacement if roofe goes

n I love this john like a kid in a sweet shop just want more ?

cheers for answers all

love this forum and all input
keeps us all going bears keep it up.

One Walter I believe attacking mid. Olura and a left sided ch.

17.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 15:16:30
Walter do u mean in cheating the fans and management or on the pitch when he can be bothered.

18.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 15:25:44
Sir Walter,

The last player Rangers had who is similar to Roofe is Naismith. Naismith was injured for 2 years, Rangers got him fit again and playing, then he walked out on us when the club need him most.

Similar abilities in that they would operate around the box, making late runs, and would contribute goals. Similar injury records too.

19.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 15:51:10
Sir walter. Purely on injuries and he's a striker i will go seb rozenthal.

20.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 15:58:47
Verdant totally different, he had serious injuries and chose to look after his family.

21.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 16:07:12
John25,i mean roofe's ability on the pitch and his style to who it's most like to rangers players of yesteryear mate ? I know where you're coming from regarding some similarities between roofe and naismith, VerdantAbyss ? However i think is a much better, more natural finisher than naismith mate ?.

22.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 16:23:08
Roofe is a clinical striker there is no doubt about that but if the club want rid I hope they do it soon he definitely is a class player on his day when fit.

23.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 16:28:23
Walter,

Naismith scored some great goals for us in Europe, against Celtic, and I think he was sold for about £8m at one point down South. He was an EPL quality striker. He was often listed as a RW but he had a free role to drift around the box and his ability to make late runs in, and find space, was Kenny Dalgliesh like. He was a great player.

I’d say Naismith and Roofe in terms of play style and ability are very similar. Roofe will never reach the those EPL heights due to his injury record. In fact, it looks like Roofe is about to go backwards down to the English lower leagues and for a guy in his prime years that’s pretty damning.

24.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 16:50:59
I actually don’t see a similarity in playing style with anyone. Roofe for me is kind of unique in his playing style
To name guys like Naismith and rozental misses the question.

25.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 16:53:23
Mols
Pyrso
McCoist
All great finishers

But what about Hately or mccoist for there finishing sir Walter?

26.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 17:39:39
Roofe has actually made 36 appearances in each of his 2 seasons with us. Not bad imo?

27.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 17:53:50
I really rate roofe he's a danger man n very capable really think we have done well out him guy's scored some belters, just take that halfway line screamer, peach of a goal in Europe as well.

28.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 18:06:02
Borna it’s not great either.

29.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 18:15:46
Big negri clinical finisher but a different type of player it what a finisher Negri was.

30.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 18:34:09
His goalscoring ratio for us is pretty good Stormtrooper ? Roofe's ability never in question it's his injuries that are the issue ?.

31.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 18:50:26
Injuries that certainly are the issue and questionable.

32.) 28 Jul 2022
28 jul 2022 19:40:30
i can't think of a player very like roofe, but i know of a few with similar lazy, self obsessed traits, its very very difficult to deal with a player who insists he's in pain, you either accept his nuances or get rid, gio may have decided the latter is best, great weapon when at it, long term malingerer.

33.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 19:52:17
We have plenty in midfield, but the lad Olaru is a player and space/ sales could be made. Need another striker tho asap. Colak will need time to settle and Alfie still to return. Like Roofe, but I've less injuries playing Amateur golf . unfortunately the guy has to be moved on.

34.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 19:56:05
Maybe not the same in playing style, but in terms of an inigma I would say Negri. Negri set our league in fire for 6 months, had the potential to set the all time top scorer in SPL that would never be caught…. then disappeared (be it squash ball or what ever)

35.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 19:56:12
EHL2020- Olaru in the starting 11 tonight.

36.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 20:02:25
Sorry TheStimgo1, didn’t see your response until after I sent mine. Great minds and all that. Negri could have been a great…. what was it, 36 goals be December (give or take)

37.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 21:37:41
Copland1 - yeah, just seen there that he started and they win 4-2.

Also seen that Motherwell lost again - pretty poor showing.

38.) 28 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 21:47:49
I watched the Motherwell game. Poor doesn't begin to describe it, never looked like scoring. And Dundee Utd have drawn AZ in the next round so unlikely they'll progress. Be down to us, Celtic (even though they suck in Europe) and Hearts to get some coefficient points. We should rise a good bit up the coefficient table this year as we're only defending 0.25 points after the Progres debacle 5 years ago.

39.) 29 Jul 2022
28 Jul 2022 23:14:13
Definitely Aribo lol.

40.) 29 Jul 2022
29 Jul 2022 10:06:35
Aribo - squash ball or Porrini's boot?
