Just catching up on all the posts about Mcgregor.

I can categorically tell you all that he has the ball in his court. He can sign a 1 year deal if he wants.

I can also tell you 100% that he does want to coach. Whether that is now or in the future I don't have that info.

Someone also asking what is the point in signing him. Whether he is no1, no2 or even no3 choice keeper next season his euro status as homegrown helps us fulfill our euro squad quota. Having him signed up makes complete sense.

I seen all the debates about Rangers best keeper and for me it is between Mcgregor and Goram. Rangers have always had tremendous keepers during my lifetime and guys like Woods and Klos were outstanding but it is down to individuals opinion.

Also, it is my opinion that Mcgregor is currently still Rangers best keeper. Mclaughlin has done well but it is difficult to judge him as he's not had a run of consistent game time. If given that he may well prove to be worthy of taking over from Mcgregor but he might also make loads of mistakes. Nobody knows but I trust that what the coaches see in training every day is much more of a basis to form an opinion than any of us fans. If they think Mcgregor is still our best keeper then I trust them 100%.

Absolutely Moc, Mcgregor is still our best GK and it makes sense to extend his deal.

I hate this keeper debate, The Goalie is why I became a keeper, that and no outfield ability lol. He was simply the best I've ever had the pleasure of seeing in real life, and like you guys I've been fortunate enough to see a few cracking keepers.

Longevity wise, you can't look past our present No1, but for pure goalkeeping ability, it still has to Andy Goram.

Sorry guys but McGregor no longer good enough. At his age and his fitness issues he cannot be relied on this season.

An absolute no brainer that Davis and McGregor will be kept on - both will be coaches that are indispensable to younger players coming through and both will perform if called up in the coming season - 2 absolute class players and fantastic to have around the Club - both are Rangers through and through and that is what all great clubs need - great business by the Club ????.

MacGregor has been a wonderful keeper for us over the years and for that I thank him, but now as he is getting on in years it is my opinion that by not committing to cross balls it is costing us points in the League, whether this is due to the aches and pains that he has been suffering from I don't know. We need a commanding goalie that is comfortable coming for crosses, I said before we lose silly goals to teams that have maybe 1 or 2 chances in a game which come from crosses which should be bread and butter for a keeper. my opinion.

Who are these informants that pass around details of who and what the club intends?

100% true that 99% of these facts are bullsh*t and yet everyone is falling over themselves I say ‘I told you first’

Huge difference between a genuine rumour and a made up story or random guesswork - at least be honest

My take is that McGregor will retire but can’t quite make what is the biggest decision ever for him - no one has whispered in my ear, just my own thought based on watching, listening and reading. If I’m right or wrong I’m no better or worse that I was yesterday.

McGregor no longer good enough? Did we not just get to a European final with that keeper in goals?

Correct, orygbmb.

Did we not just lose the league with McGregor in goals?

He’s been poor domestically because he’s unable to leave his line and with majority of the teams in the league they tend to target his weaknesses whereas in Europe his shot stopping is obviously called into action more.

People say McGregor rangers best goalkeeper, he is officially unattached his contract ran out on 31/ 5.

We lost the league with every player we have, does that mean they all aren't good enough CF5 because that is exactly what you have just implied.

still a fantastic keeper, but time is undoubtedly catching up.

Ross County, Motherwell, Hearts, Celtic.

4 games off the top of my head were his mistakes contributed to us dropping points, I get every player makes a mistake but being a goalkeeper you can’t afford to make as many as he’s done this season.

Copland what a ridiculous post why not get rid of all the outfield players then as well as we lost the league with them playing ?.

It’s not a ridiculous post. In Europe he’s excellent there’s no denying it. Domestically last season he was very poor and that’s down to his weaknesses but in the past his shot stopping used to cover for that but him being 41 you can see he’s lost some that initial reactionary save we all know he had.

He’s the best goalie I’ve ever seen at us but I just think last season was a season too far, he was also persuaded to continue playing last summer so I think deep down he knows that too.

It is easy to highlight games where McGregor has made mistakes since there are very few over a long and successful career. On the other hand, highlighting the number of times where his incredible sees have won us games, helped us qualify for the next round in Europe or helped us to secure league titles could fill pages.
I am not saying that he should continue to be our No. 1 Keeper but I will say that he is better than anything else we have at the Club at present.
For me we need a new, top class keeper, to follow in the tradition of top quality keepers that have been at our Club.
I just don't think that McLaughlin falls in to that category and I am genuinely concerned that if he is our first choice keeper next season it will cost us the league. I hope that I am wrong but he just doesn't inspire me!

McLaughlins strengths suit the Scottish game we would be fine with him domestically.
