apparently the deals for Ross Stewart and Dapo Afolayan are to be completed soon.

Ross Stewart looks like the player we thought itten would be, very handy in the air.

My mate is a Sunderland season ticket holder. His description of Ross Stewart:

‘Awful at one on one’s, misses too many chances by blasting the ball straight at the keeper. He’s does however have the best work rate I’ve seen in a football in years. He scores so many goals because of his work rate and never giving up on a half chance’

You can’t beat a player with a great work rate and his goals this season is impressive. If I’m honest, I was expecting a better calibre of player and a centre forward who has more composure (compared to Morelos) in front of goal.

Are we going to be a stronger team with these two players and Katic back? I’m not sure we are.

Wee alfrado was like that to at one point.

No change from Morelos then Dado haha. Morelos loves a whack straight at the keeper.

Im sorry but we need to aim higher awful sign to give out to fans hoping for quakity signings and with balogun davis greggs holding taljs to poss stay another year clearly not as big a window as we all thought.

Stewart could also be exactly what Rangers has been missing for years, big, robust fearless fighter, throws himself into everything and scared of nobody, and a blue heart too, btw alfie has still virtually zero composure on one on one's either, has other attributes obviously, but Rangers have been screaming out for another hotel type of gios era which we have always had, even if its to change things when we need a quality battering ram, , but again he will be slaughtered just like soutter has because he's scottish, we sometimes need a guy like him,

Old fashioned centre forward, the game has moved on from there, another bench warmer, surely Gio has someone better then this lined up?

8.) 25 May 2022
25 May 2022 07:46:38
You will obviously know better than gio then, or any other football professional who decides a old fashioned centre forward is what they want, or need, the game seems to still be about winning games, and some old fashioned centre forwards win games, ask a few epl and german managers, there's plenty of them earning a fortune, what exactly has the game moved on to mate? are you telling me Duncan Ferguson or Mark hateley wouldn't get a game now like?

Rangers has on many occasions needed exactly an old fashioned cf in many games when we had virtually zero strength and power and it cost us league titles, just recently, you should understand the need for variance in yiur squad, , like benchwarmers as you knowledgeably call subs.

Yeah that was my first thought, we need somebody who has a strong conversation rate in front of goal. I couldn't bring myself to say a bad word about Morelos as he's outstanding and brings more to the team than just his goals. I do think we'll struggle unless we can get somebody with more composure as we create so many chances in most games.

He’s banged in 26 goals this season, he’s Scottish for Europe if we’re swapping itten for him then it enhances our squad. His style is an option we don’t have. Go watch his goals from this season. Any decent striker should rattle goals in for us. Morelos is undoubtedly a great modern day striker, more so for his link up and hold up play but he should probably score more playing for us domestically.

I agree regarding Tom Thumb assessment of Ross Stewart.

Colombian ST cassierra from Sochi in Russia linked, known to them from time with Ajax youth set up also. There will be a list of targets to replace itten, I yhink Morelos will sign a new deal and still be our main option.

A like the look a that wee winger from Bolton and should sort our problems on the right wing out.

25 May 2022 10:26:14
Old fashioned? I'm sure two up top was described as 'old fashioned' and had no place in the modern game. let's leave the decisions to Gio, if Gio rates the lad then let's go for it. Lundstam Morelos Wright have developed nicely under Gio.

16.) 25 May 2022
25 May 2022 10:27:08
Like others have said, sounds very like Morelos and most of the goals he scores are scuffs!

I’ve not seen much of Stewart this season but going by the description above, it would seem we are signing a player who suits the way we ply when Morelos is playing. A striker who works hard for the team, can run the channels and hold the ball up. Good presence and will get on the end of our umpteen crosses we fire in.

I do laugh when we list a players weaknesses rather than strengths. We do it all the time.

Morelos is good, but if he had more composure what a striker he’d be.
Tavernier is good but if he could defend what a player he’d be
Kent is good but if he could add more goals what a player he’d be
Hagi is good but if he had more strength and pace what a player he would be
Helander is good but if he had pace what a player he’d be

If these players had the attributes added to their game that people always mention they are missing then they wouldn’t be playing for us, they’d be playing at a much higher level.

I'd have thought Gio had other options but tbh I trust him as a coach but am unimpressed by some of the names being mentioned.

19.) 25 May 2022
25 May 2022 12:10:31
I would take him as a replacement for itten as it’s an upgrade.

20.) 25 May 2022
25 May 2022 12:51:12
I'm not overly excited by either option as I don't know a great deal about them.

That said, I have a lot of faith in Wilson and Gio, so if they have identified them as targets I assume they'll advance the squad - if not the starting 11.

21.) 25 May 2022
25 May 2022 13:59:21
Very well put fruitbear .

22.) 25 May 2022
25 May 2022 14:14:54
I don’t think you can compare Hateley and Stewart although both old fashioned strikers Hateley was a class act.

23.) 25 May 2022
25 May 2022 14:19:15
For me it’s about improving the squad. Every player doesn’t have to be an automatic first 11 player.
We will sign bosmans, loans and players who will command a fee aswell.
For me this boy sounds better than Itten and regardless we need at least 1 other even if Itten stays with JD exit in January.
If Alfie was to be sold then I’m sure we would be in the market for a £5m plus striker but if he stays then Stewart is better than Itten so he enhances squad.
I imagine we will be in the Dutch market as their players are affordable and technically v good generally.

24.) 25 May 2022
25 May 2022 16:41:11
So it’s actually nothing to do with old fashioned centre forwards but about class now, you should have said, instead of changing your story to suit.

If Stewart is sold it’s likely to be for around the 4M mark. No thanks . we aren’t getting this lad for heehaw to see if the big target man bluenose is a decent replacement for Itten. He would be on decent wages and expected to lead the line at that fee.
