As much as we would like every academy player to make it they very rarely do. Take Jamie ness for example I thought he would be the next big player for us but don't even know if he still plays, same as Wylde, Macabe just to name a few. Even gilmour cracking player but just can't see him making it at Chelsea. Think agents are a big problem in football promise these kids the world if they move on but most just disappear into the abyss. 🔴⚪🔵.

Think they will probably have 1st shout clauses in many of the academy kids that leave in case they do make it like lad at Partick already. Sadly most fall by the wayside. Think a combination of not enough belief shown in youth to develop and not many have what it takes to really make it to the top.

How many are really good enough - Rangers youth teams at each age group maybe have a few good players with a decent chance as they are very talented - the rest are there to make up the team as no way they can all be that good to make it at Rangers - hence why so few make it and the bulk of those leaving Rangers tend to go down and down the levels until they quit or become almost invisible due to the level they play at - obviously some have made it at top level but % wise it must be pretty low - perhaps the lowland league experience will help many to progress but it will also show clearly those who will never be Rangers class - and for the record I love nothing more than a Paterson or a Derek Johnstone coming through the ranks and making it into the first team but sadly few players of this standard come through - more chance of youth coming through at other clubs where they are not expected to win every game and getting more games and experience and then signing for us one day.
