Atletico Madrid want to sign 20-year-old Rangers full-back Nathan Patterson, according to online Spanish news outlet Fichajes.
It is claimed that the 2020/ 21 La Liga champions will try to sign a full-back in January, and Patterson has emerged as a potential option.

It’s been my beliefs a deal in principle to sell Nathan was agreed some time ago, I could of course be way out, I just always found it difficult to believe he wasn’t playing more because of his age, ability, or Tav, I hope it’s not the case but I just feel something like this is in place, Patterson is far too good to be dropped for weeks at a time, it’s only my opinion, but there’s boys all over the world playing in major clubs at his age.

It was in one of the papers this week over head name a few foreign teams.

If they are in for him (If), then the boy should be off in a shot. What an opportunity! He is far too good to be warming our bench, and as long as he's not going from sitting on one bench, to sitting on another, he should be packing his bags and saying adios. Althletico, and anyone else, would need to pay what Rangers believe he's worth before this can happen, though.

Agreed patterson too good to be sitting on the bench and i am highly critical of Tav. BUT patterson does not have the numbers in his game to match tav. Tav will assist more than double anybody else in the league this season.

The Money for patterson would be great, but I'd like him to stay with us.

BMGH01, I agree with John25, something not right he can't get game time, and I would not be surprised if a deal is not already done. Unfortunately for Rangers his stock has risen since then with his displays for Scotland so we could lose out on really big money.

Do you mean he's not getting played BAR72 incase he gets injured and jeopardises any deal that's already in place?

Scotland player and wanted by Athletico Madrid but not good enough to start for Rangers according to Gerrard. If I was the new manager he is the one I would be desperate to hold on to. Could be worth a fortune in a year or two (if given game time) goodbye Gerrard you got this wrong.

My names Tomthumb12, but I know what you mean

I’ve said for months I believe that a deal has already been reached, or, a promise in principle, or something simi, I think Rangers expected a few sales before now and will cash in on Paterson, it’s only my long held opinion, I found it incredible such a good player couldn’t get a game.

There's players I'd sell before patterson, kamara simpson and wright to name three.

What a load of nonsense as he's every chance of getting injured for Scotland as he does playing for Rangers🤦.

There is no way any new manager on this Earth will rock up to Ibrox and ditch the current captain for the young pretender no matter how good Patterson is.
He will not want to rock the dressing room boat as he needs everyone on his side.
Now that may change if Tav doesn't perform the defensive side of his game as good as he is offensively at times.

BMGH01, as I said, wouldn't be surprised.

Patterson is in my view potentially the best fb in years but Tav is our captain and his assists are more ATM than Patterson could offer. I don't want to lose Patterson unless a new coach can get others to provide type of assists as Tav we'd need to sell 1 unfortunately Patterson has more value so likely be him.

Still don’t get why Tav and Patterson can’t play in same team in some games. Good teams can change formations in certain games.
If we were playing Lyon away for instance I’d rather have back 3 with Balagun Goldson and Tav with Barisic and Patterson either side as wing backs.
Then Jack preferably or Lundstream in CDM and Kamara and Davis CM with 2 up top maybe Sakala and Roofe
I know that leaves out Kent and Morelos, Hagi and Aribo to name a few but t then gives us the option if it’s not working to become more attacking and change system
Same as starting with 4-3-3 and reverting to that shape in games where we have a good scoreline we want to see out.

Paul 86, doesn't have the numbers because he hardly gets any game time, maybe that is a factor.

Gio likes playing 3-5-1 away from home against tough sides, GlasgowRanger with his preference being 4-3-3.
So you never know though myself personally don't like playing players out of position just to accommodate others.

It might all be academic as I can't see him staying if a big offer comes in. I keep hearing that Everton will be back for him in January as they want him as a replacement for Coleman.

Of course Van Bronkhurst might have a different view on his defence.

Paul 86 - what if you compare Patterson's international stats against Tav's? reckon theirs only one answer there.
