Rangers won’t spend a right now soo all this talk of spending millions isn’t going to happen …!, let’s get it right we are in debt…! players need to leave or qualify for the champions league group stages, we would be nuts to let any first team players leave before we have played the qualifiers, if and it’s a big if we manage it no one will need to leave and if they do we will be laughing because 100% of the fee they go for can go bk into the transfer kitty.

What debt?

NRD we are probably somewhere around 30 million in debt so I would imagine it's that debt.

NRD, Willie is probably right. It’s well known that we’ve needed ‘soft loans’ from the directors to make it through the last few seasons. Luckily as they are being converted to loans most of it will never need paid back as such. But that’s a situation that can’t continue and that has been stated many times by the club. It’s estimated that we will run at a loss of around £14 million this year at least. That money will need to be made up from somewhere. As Willie says, if we make it into the champ league proper that will go a long way to doing that, but the board have also already stated that going forward our model will be to bring in players for small fees, develop them and hopefully sell on for much higher, so it’s likely we will lose one maybe two players this summer whether we make the champ league or not. So yes, there is still debt and it needs to be managed.

We won't know until accounts are published Wullie but I would think we will be running at a deficit again don't invisage a huge outlay without selling. The fact that we're not selling hopefully means we don't have to. I think John Bennett has said we're not under pressure to sell but it's part of the business plan. It wouldn't make sense to sell at under what we value players if we don't have to. As you say if we get into the champions league our player value should also go up being in a bigger shop window and possibly sell then.

We have almost nor debt!

We have been running at a loss for a good few years but all of these losses have been covered by soft loans from directors.

Most of these loans have been converted to shares leaving virtually no debt other than current soft loans that are likely to be treated the same way.

The board have been very clear to every fan who chooses to listen rather than soak up and believe the headlines.

Our aim is to become self sufficient this year or next but not at the expense of stopping progress - we will spend big money where it moves e club further towards a strong and stable financial or footballing position - stadium improvements, new developments or new players.

Of course we will have to sell to raise funds but only if it fits into the plan and does not hinder our progress.

Do Rangers not owe money to Close Brothers?

Agree with DK19, our debt is loss mostly revenue from no match day earnings last 18 months. Mr Bisgrove has brought in money via the partnership deals and all credit to him. We have also spent money on upgrades to Ibrox and Auchenhowie. The new projects will cost, however they will regenerate money and become profitable.
We are in a much more stable position than across the city. Did anyone notice that they had a secret share issue last season raising 7.5 m to keep their books looking good, thing is they never told their fans only the directors who bought the shares….
I trust our board and think going forward the club will financially go from strength to strength…….

We have no debt.
The investors are converting their loans to shares so as it stands right now we have no debt.
I said that a bit tongue in cheek as I’m not that daft that we cannot rely on investors pumping money in without a return. We need to sell players for huge sums to allow us to be be self sufficient or qualify for CL.
It’s one or the other but we have no debt so to speak.

Well, I would hope your post was clear enough DK, but you know how it is! Don't believe the hysteria, or be taken in by the negative spin which is meant to cause confusion etc. Listen to what our board says and nobody else. Yes, we can't go throwing millions about on different players, but nobody can in Scotland. If we need to sell so we can invest in future players, that's good business. The club is being run well, and with the backing of our wealthy fans, merchandise, season ticket revenue, numerous sponsorship deals etc we are well on course to meet our objectives!

I agree with what everyone is say but what I’m getting at is I can’t see us splashing millions on any signing until players leave or we make the group stages of the champions league most rumours are click bait online and a wouldn’t believe a thing the papers write, Gerrard is keeping him card close to his chest they will move when the times right.
#56 is on its way.

Wullie I think every single one of us know we can't constantly rely on investors.
However I do believe we have a business model that we are working to.
Remember this season is a £35 million league. I'm sure if we really needed to sell one or two to balance the books we would. I fully trust the people in charge.

Big eck not sure about that any share issue would have to be notified it would be a hard one to keep secret.

Yes totally agree 55 . no share issue or soft loans as would have needed to notify market.

16.) 30 Jul 2021
30 Jul 2021 13:29:23
Agree that most of our debt jas been converted into shares but only so many time u can do that we simply can't afford to lose between 10-15 million every single season. This will be the 1st year the gaffer has not spent a decent wedge. I don't think we will spend any money other than compo for mccann. Weve taken in 2 players sakala amd lundstram on frees which is great business. But unless we make champions league or a big asset is sold were never buying veerman.

Guys, check their books, they returned 7.5 m on a share issue to directors, effectively its a loan, however the loan was repaid to them in shares.
They did not notify fans, it’s money into their account from existing directors, no need to go to stock exchange, they just created more shares.
Check out the BBC Scotland Slayer on Twitter 6 th July or YouTube, listen to podcast ……also it’s in their accounts…. Believe me they are struggling, hence them trying to offload as many as they can, please don’t give me any nonsense about DD being a billionaire etc and will dip into his own pocket, he has never put a penny in without it being paid back, he gets £440,000 every year in a perpetuity agreement since he loaned them 8 m in 2002. Also he became major shareholder with his consortium at same time as they gave him shares for investment. Anyway it’s not about them, we are on right track with our board and our management team and our players. Onwards to 56.

30 Jul 2021 14:25:52
Paul it's all conjecture until the accounts are submitted and published. I'm assuming that we would have sold if we had to. We want to sell from a position of strength to make sure we get decent value. As for the Debt we have no/ little debt in the traditional sense and converted from soft loans but do we not have C.V. tax and payment increments to pay on certain players?

19.) 30 Jul 2021
30 Jul 2021 15:21:57
A lot of that debt was due to player purchase ect would expect us if not bringing in players to be running around a 5 million loss think that will go down to 2 million in a year or 2 as the losses were due to the big rebuilding job.

20.) 30 Jul 2021
30 Jul 2021 18:46:51
Paul we were never signing veerman anyway and I said at the time would be a great signing but won’t happens.

Big eck they've got a lash of share procedures on companies House for 2020. Could nt be bothered looking through them. I've said on here quite a few times that C.V. will level us financially.

There's too many variables for us to say if it's going to be 5 or 30 million deficit it's await for the accounts and see. But I was a pessimist regarding it and I'm becoming more and more confident well be ok and can survive in an ok shape.

We're in roughly 19m debt. The figures were released a week or 2 ago. CL money would clear it and sort us.
