Talking to a good source who today reckons Goldston is leaving Rangers. He says Norwich, West Ham very interested.
He reckons we will struggle to meet his wage demands which will make him highest paid player in our history.

I’d tell them. £10m if u don’t play it forget it, you’ll probably find epl clubs will pay that for him no problem.
If he’s not going to sign a contract get rid of him and bring someone who wants to be here in. He’s not worth breaking out wage record. He must be asking for over £40k a week then as I’m sure we have paid £35-£40k back in the crazy days.

IGWT if the wages defoe originally was supposed to be on was paid to Goldson i think he would sign. Surely be able to get a 12 month extension with a buyout clause in for him he's our most important player.

He’s not our most important player mate, we have numerous players who are equally important and he’s one of them. I wouldn’t be giving him £40k a week. If that’s what he’s wanting no way. Then where does it stop next time we want Kent and kamara and Alf and so on to sign a deal. We need to draw the line somewhere around £30k mate.

Goldson will be hard to replace. Not impossible obviously but hard. Particularly when you are removing a stalwart. There may be something in this rumour as we are knocking back several enquiries about Edmunson.

I’d go with the 1 year extension with £8m release clause inserted in new contract.
People forgetting he was an ever present in our best defensive season in a generation, just because he appears to be greedy or has itchy feet doesn’t make him a worse defender.
He improved markedly last season IMO.
