Heard a wee rumour yesterday that Thomson has had a chat with Steven Gerrard, Wilson and academy bosses about bringing some of the youth players on loan to his team. Think this could be a great bit of business for both clubs. Thomson gets access to some of the best talent in the country and Rangers get our players developed by one of our own the Rangers way.

Bellshill lad remember it's the 3rd division and the lowland league so standards aren't very high. i would hope gers players would be at a higher standard than that unless there really young.

Thompson is the Kelty manager Davie in the 2nd division.

Davie, the club has decided to pitch their colt team into the lowland league which is under the level that KT's team are playing in. I would therefore presume that the club would be happy about sending youth players to Kelty, especially given that they are fully aware of the coaching they will be receiving. This can only be a positive for Rangers, allowing young talent to get games against fellow pro's.

Every young player has a level, Kelty might be better for some players aposed to lowland league. Some players will be loaned to spl and championship I’d imagine rangers will put players where best for their level/ development.

Sorry I said 3rd division. its now called 2nd division but you know what I mean. whoever said there sending 5he colts team. remember tho the majority of our colts team have already been out on loan to higher leagues and will go back out to higher leagues again this season so our new colt team will probably be very very young. agreed it can be good for players maybe for there first loan possibly. for instance would you send leon king out on loan to kelty. no chance, yes he's young but can play at a much higher level.

Like I say Leon might go to spl team or championship.

It doesn’t matter if it’s low level to begin with for them they will be up against harden players and it will could be the making or the breaking of them in my opinion.

Our young players ain’t going to go straight in to other spfl teams right away on loan they need to start somewhere.

Also no one is saying Leon king will go to Kelty you seem to be picking and choosing youngsters that suit your argument which to be honest you haven’t got one.

Kja9 I picked leon king as he's under age for the colts team. tell me this how many of our current colts team that were out on loan last year and at a much higher level are gers gona drop down to 1 of the lowest levels in semi professional football lol. aye probably nine or a couple. there were players across the leagues last year and did well tet gers are gona drop them to a lower level probably knocking there confidence and setting the youths and gers back at least a year or will like gers said some of these youths going back out in loan to much higher standard then they will progress the next age group to the colts. not rocket science for God sake us it. and as you tried to argue that I originally pointed out that it will be youngsters starting out on there first loan possibly. at least read my message properly first before replying eh.

Davie am I correct in saying they must be 16 to play in the league.

I never said anyone that’s out at a higher level will go lower.

Davie you seem to be saying that dropping down our colts team is counter productive, i completely disagree with you on that, playing competitive football at that stage in development is the way forward, if you listen to our manager and backroom staff they seem to know what there doing with bringing players through and into first team, even last season when young kai Kennedy got full of himself, SG put him straight, shipped him out and showed the discipline needed to play for rangers, the same player has now put oen to paper, so let's just get back to rumours and not pick apart an amazing season with your bull opinion, or shall we tell our backroom staff to step aside for our davie.

Loyalist think you mistook me. what I said was most of the current colts team were out on loan last season playing at a higher level. these players will I imagine still be loaned out to bigger teams in better leagues as they were last season.10 of our colts team got released this season so I imagine the team that's gona be playing with the lowland league will be the next batch of colts players ready to step up from there age group. why would gers want to tell players that were let's say at queen of the south last year to drop 2 or 3 divisions to play in colts or Kelly hearts. they wont. they will loan these players back out trying to progress there career to the next level. i specifically name checked leon king as in my eyes a player like that, that has potential and could do with a season at Kelly hearts playing against men as he has never had a loan and also around the age group I think will be in the lowland league. i also namechecked him as I don't know any other youngsters at gers his age that could benefit for them. time will tell.

John I very much doubt age will be of a concern as there still youth products under contract at youth level so presume it will be up to gers who they play.

dd1980 To be eligible to play in matches held under the auspices of the Lowland League and for registration, a player must have attained the age of 16 years. Their rule, no grey areas.

Davies checked spfl rules off which lowland league come under a player must be 16 to play a league match
This was how Gilmour never made debut for us.

Loyalist your saying dropping down the leagues like 2 league drop is good for anybody never mind the youths lol. so players that have played first division last season and did well are gona want, accept and gers think it's for there progress to drop to semi professional football. away and take yerself for a sh ite eh. realisticly what players wants to drop to such a low level after exceeding at a much higher level and you say I talk bull for God sake. aye ok then. why not drop Patterson down to Kelly hearts. least he get game time eh. I enough said I think🤔🤔🤔🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫.

Surely it horses for courses and a good option for some youth players.
We played in that league ourselves and higher rated youth players and season Pros struggled in some games.
Quality might be lower but physically it can be daunting and if any highly rated youth player doesn’t get option to play at higher level on loan this would be ideal.
I’m sure if they tear it up they will be loaned at higher level next time? It can only be a positive thing as Kelty are an ambitious well run club and are probably going to end up between Championship and League 1 like a Cove or Alloa.

Sure it was obvious Thomson would have at the very least discussed young people way before the news of his appointment broke, I mentioned it myself weeks ago,

As do most young coaches leaving a big club for a fledgling career at a small club, they will alw Have a chat about taking youngsters.

Davie, let me be clear, i think your talking mince, no-one is saying that players will drop down to that league to advance there career, however you spoke of young boy king, let's say he's injured, and on road back to recovery he plays in that league to get match fit and up to speed, my main point is i trust the football men to know what there doing eg Dick advocate was offered a new contract when managing rangers , he replied to Murray that he would only sign if he pledged to build an Academy, the rest is history, this lowland league business is further adding to the development of said academy, which in my opinion has never truly reached it full potential until now, i'm a season ticket holder who loves what our present management are doing, i'm not here to argue an irrelevant point with yourself, our current backroom staff are outstanding and don't deserve our petty criticism, namaste.

The information I was told was he would get a couple young players who will be going out on a 1st loan to gain experience in men's football. I know we have the colt team in lowland league. I personally think that the more players we expose to men's football the better it will be better for us in the long run. I was also told Rangers academy see the benefit in Thomson managing our youngsters. He has gained a great deal of respect for his coaching ability during his time in our youth set up. He also knows the players that he would be getting so reduces the risk of game time, getting played out of position and so on. He was able to attract Barjonas who I think we all agree is better than league 2. I believe that it was more he wanted to play for Thomson rather than the club and think that's what Rangers would see more the coach than league.

I don’t think the women’s league would accept them myself.
