I can't get my head round what is wrong here. It's like saying we are waiting for the western Isle result in a general election but can't tell anyone Boris has a majority of 80 seats. They had their 9 votes needed to pass. If they had only 8 votes and he told them they had the 9 I can see a problem.

IOM, in your General Election analogy no election results can be announced until all votes in and the poll officially closed at 10pm on election night. Even exit polls, as opposed to voting results, cannot be communicated until 10pm on election night.
