A jazzed up chief scout, that’s all he was.

Just as i feared in my last post, he jumped before he was pushed.

Blue billy why the fear if he was causing issues and not delivering.

Mark Allen was massively unpopular at board level and I know it for a fact. Also, he tried to bring McInnes, and that’s unforgivable.

Some successful incomings may have been because of him but most could have been suggested by any one us. Gerrard, McGregor, Davis, Defoe, arfield. All easy picks. Kent was because of Gerrard. Not sure what else he’s done and not sure any of the other players couldn’t have been discovered on fifa or whatever game it is.

Ok Glasgowrangersgooner, who's your choice to replace mark allen, as our new director of football mate?

I for one am disappointed by his departure. Guy seemed to know what he was talking about and whatever you think of him, no one is going to get everything right.

It would be nice to see us go down the Ajax route of bringing in someone who has either played for or managed the club, with a good footballing brain. Years ago Walter would have been the ideal choice. Wouldn’t mind seeing someone like Souness take up the position (although I know that probably won’t go down well on here)

No idea! I don’t know the individuals who do these jobs. My understanding is Allen promised certain outgoings for certain amounts of money and didn’t deliver.

I heard it was partly to do with the failure to move deadwood players on. No matter the reason he has left the club in better shape than he found it. He has organised the club behind the scenes improving training ground set up and scouting networks. Would like to hope that we go out and bring someone capable of further improving our club.

We don’t need a “director of football” as they call it. A made up job for a chief scout, that’s all it is. We can use Allen’s salary towards a new left back in January.

Personally I'd like to see les Reed approached, the work he did at Southampton is unbelievable he would be able to set the club up for the next 15 years. Rick Witter I'm not sure you know how the wage system works Pal. can't use staff wages on players it's a different set up.

It would be the current southampton director of football ross wilson for me guys. He was our first choice before we appointed mark allen and was very close to accepting the job back around 2 years ago now. It was loyalty at southampton as he wasn't long there and had been given free scope, to do pretty much what he liked. It shows he's a loyal guy but i do think he would take our director of football job now, of course if he was lucky enough to be asked.

He is a massive loss. He's part of the reason we got Gerrard and bought and sold so many people at once. Hey maybe one of you guys can take over and we can get Alan Hutton and that Shankland character lol.

Souness_ Remind me who he has "sold"?

Bought loads of players on the basis he could balance the books with outgoings. He is single handedly responsible for not being able to deliver this. Rangers tend to give away players at best, and pay them off at worst.

Allen had his job description restructured after a frankly shambolic series on non-outgoings this transfer window, and it was agreed he'd move on.

His inability to shift anyone for any notable amount of money is the reason our club are having to charge us 2million quid more than Celt*c are charging their supporters for Europa tickets. This was never the clubs intention, but we need to pay for the incomings and massive squad somehow.

I don't mind paying more, as we live and learn. What I do mind is nonsensical support of a guy who couldn't do his job properly.

Sounds like you're making stuff up to be honest gooner. Allen brought Gerrard here - you have acomplaint about that? Speak to Dave King.

You ducked the question Souness. I’ll take that as a reluctant acceptance that I’m correct. Oh and making stuff up? Like when you said Allen had sold so many players.
