I was sitting next to a sports rights lawyer at a dinner last night and inevitably the conversation drifted around to our current SD fight.

Whilst he was/ is not involved with Rangers, he said that the "matching clause" was very common in merchandising deals because the sums of money can be so huge.

In his opinion, my is a sore loser and is simply making life as difficult as possible for us by examining every single legal loophole without any real desire to win a merchandising deal.

He could match the JD sport deal and we would have to give him the contract, however, he is insisting on examining every single (tiny) part of the deal with a supposed view that he would cherry pick only the best bits - we would not have to agree to thins but my is insisting that we give him the detail in any case.

In other words, SD would not have signed the get out deal (£3m) last year without the "matching clause" that is common place.

Without knowing all the facts, the lawyer recons that we will win the case because the judge (at some point) will run out of patience with SD's spoiling actions that are designed only to be a pain in the butt but have the possibility of causing significant material damage to our club.

Time will tell.
