Per SSN at 1150am - Mcleish has not been contacted by Rangers regarding the current managers job - neither has McInnes - Rangers are beginning to consider a short list - for the job - but there is no increased urgency to appoint a new manager despite Saturdays defeat -

Really hope it’s not McLeish. What a backwards step that would. I get he got Birmingham promotes and won league cup but he also got them relegated twice and has been sacked at every job since. Winning the league on Helicopter Sunday will forever be one of the best days ever but he was also very fortunate and he filled the team full of some of the biggest duds we ever had. For every Prso there was a Nieto, Maniero, Bernard, Ostenstad, Capucho etc

Mprent, you are knocking those lads but I honestly think every single one of them would walk into the current team haha.

the board has to act fast we need a manager asap to get his style across and see if he can improve any of the current squad which may save us money in the summer it can be done because its happened with that lot i see no positives from giving it to someone for rest of the season

In an ideal world I would like Gio but even if that were possible I have my doubts if he could manage with no budget. I would also take De Boer, Bilic, Allardyce, McInnes, O’Neil or the Tea lady before McLeish I take it you’re one of those fans who can’t see beyond the last Blueberry? Romanticising what McLeish done and forgetting how bad he was the rest of the time.

What about Eggan, Jeffers, Namouchi, Mladenovic, that Italian striker that never played (can’t remember his name), Vanoli. They get a game lol?

Who signed Frank De Boer

So you’re ignoring all his poor signings because he signed frank de Boer for half a season where as great a player he was, he helped us win nothing? In fact did he not even miss the deciding penalty that put us out the cup? Not knocking De Boer but some people seem help bent on romanticising McLeish. He won 2 titles in 6 years. That’s not good enough.

Bonnisell, Ben Stevens, Emerson, Muscat, Kalenga, Fetei, Carcary, Djordic, Fan Fan, Rae, Maniero, N’Guessien. He signed all them. Granted he got Prso, Novo. Andrews, De Boer (6months), Boumsong (6months) but do we seriously want to take a step back and take a guy who’s last job was in Egypt and he got sacked after a few months?

I'd be surprised if anyone is announced as manager before the AGM. The Board need Resolution 11 to be passed so that external investment can be injected. If the rumours about serious investment from North America are true then it's likely that such investors would want a say in who gets appointed. If R11 doesn't pass then maybe the Board will lose their appetite to invest further.

McLeish did sign some proper duffers but he didn't have anything like the budget advocatt had. Think he won 6 trophies but apparently that's not good enough now. I am not a huge fanboy of McLeish, just don't like the bashing he was getting. He beat O'Neill's Celtic on many occasions, how far away are we from doing that now? If money was no object I'd go for de Boer.

Well might as well just get mccoist back as according to everyone on here we've no had a decent manager since watty. Guess what we never will again. Souness, smith, advocaat. The last real winners at ibrox then. Mcleish signed some duds but he still had a team that pkayed for the badge and coukd get a decent winning run together.

Thing is you can make facts suit any argument Blueberry. Yes McLeish won 6 trophies but he won 5 of them in his first year and a half. So by my count that means he won 1 in 4 years. Also he won the title the year Celtic got to Seville because they got to Seville. Head to head that year they had beat us more than we beat them. Think we got one win against them that year. McLeish had his time and we will be forever grateful for what he delivered but overall he’s a terrible manager and that has been proven at every club he’s been at. Even clubs where he’s had success his failures at those clubs far outweigh his success. How can we move forward when we keep looking back? Ye he didn’t have he budget of Advocaat but he also had a far better budget than we have now and wasted most of it
