See that apparently Forrest are looking at Worrals contract to see if they are able to recall him in January. Fingers crossed.

Big man's a player in the making still learning his trade.

Problem is if Worral was to return to Nottingham Forest in January who does SG sign to replace him?

03 Dec 2018 08:40:02

{Ed001's Note - I don't know where you got that rubbish from but it is wrong.}

Ed1. What is your source, what are you so confident Solanke is on £50,000 plus a week. I find it very hard to believe someone with next to no first team experience albeit with a good youth team pedigree is on that sort of money. Accept he would have received a significant one off signing on fee when he signed for Liverpool.

{Ed001's Note - I never said 50k plus. My source is from within the club and you clearly have no idea how much youth team players are being paid in the Prem these days. There are players with no first team experience earning 40k a week at Premier league teams.}

03 Dec 2018 14:45:54
Ed1 perhaps under very exceptional circumstances at Man City and Chelsea but not at Liverpool (for a lad that was not at outstanding youth success at Chelsea) . Value your comments but believe your wide of the mark on this one.

{Ed001's Note - you really have no idea, Liverpool are amongst the highest payers of youth players, Arsenal were actually the highest payers, not Chelsea or City. Though that is skewed because Wenger liked to have near parity for players within the first team squad, no matter the age or experience. By the way, his wage was higher to persuade him to join, Klopp actually made an especial effort to convince him, including tapping up the lad, which is still causing a few problems for Liverpool now. Liverpool have paid over the odds to a number of youngsters tempted from other teams, it is why they join.}

I wish Ed001 you had as much no how on the Gers as you do about Liverpool? 🤯✌️🇬🇧.

{Ed001's Note - so do I mate.}

Ed001, thanks for your comments, as usual very informative. When Solanke failed to agree terms with Chelsea he was said to be on £7000 and we know he would receive a substantial base increase and signing on fee when joining Liverpool. My understanding is he received a very significant six figure signing on fee and agreed a basic weekly wage significantly lower than you are suggesting. Anyway our interest here is whether he may come to us on loan in January. You have stated he is too expensive and is not good enough for the Gers. IMO he will join us on loan in January for second half of the season. Let’s see.

{Ed001's Note - I hope he does join you as he is never going to be good enough for Liverpool and I would be glad to get him off the wage bill.

There is an issue here, you seem to think signing on payments are separate from wages. The signing on fee is paid throughout the course of the contract as part of the salary. For instance, James Milner is actually being paid around £150k a week, because of the signing bonus. Solanke is being paid over £40k, which is in large part made up of signing bonus paid over the course of his contract. That is still seen as part of the salary for the club who has the player.}

Ed you are right, the signing on fee isn’t lump sum. It’s an addition to the base wage.
The only part a wage which will fluctuate is goal bonus, unused sub fee, clean sheet fee etc.

I know a boy who a few years back made a name in Scottish football, got a move and made a number or appearances for Celtic, some of those games were in the Champions League and at the time he just won a Scotland cap. He went to sign for Middlesbrough and the club asked what he was looking for financially.
When he told them what he wanted the Middlesbrough board laughed and offered him multiple times what he asked for. When he challenged it the board said “you asked for what our youth players earn yet you are a Celtic regular with Champions League expand Scotland caps”

The youth guys down south are on thousands upon thousands a week!

{Ed001's Note - it has gotten ridiculous, which is why there are talks about setting a wage cap on youth team players.}

03 Dec 2018 17:59:12
I didn’t know there were plans to do that but the FA need to do something! The same guy I speak about above told me that when Musonda joined Celtic last year he was on £45k a week at Chelsea! This despite never playing a game for them! It’s absolutely incredible.

{Ed001's Note - there are a couple of 17 year old kids that are being paid £40k a week that I know of. It is scary.}

Now you know why we couldn't hold on to young Billy Gilmour.

04 Dec 2018 16:24:07
Yes there manager says due to injury they want him back. He is ok but has made it clear he does not want to stay.
Goldston and McCauley safe again today.

Gilmour on 10k at Chelsea, this includes signing fee, which he only got on turning 17.
