I've just returned from business in Liverpool where a senior LFC employee told me at a non-football related lunch that the word is Gerrard was 'astounded' at the lack of talent at Ibrox, the drastic shortage of fitness of most of the squad and the shambolic manner in which the club's admin and media areas are run. He cited Mark Allen as the only professional in the place and said the club needs a 'deep clean'. I believe the guy.

Sounds about right to me

13 Jul 2018 19:49:16
I should add that in this bloke's opinion, Gerrard would rely heavily on his old club's expertise over the coming months and one phrase attributed to Gerrard was that there was no 'oomph' about Ibrox and that he would have to energise the place. I really don't think Gerrard knew the real size of the task he's taken on.

Sounds bang on

Don’t believe he was slating the club like that for a minute, wouldn't be very professional would it and from what I have seen is Gerrard is very professional, and not really the way to get the players playin for him is it.

13 Jul 2018 20:52:50
cant say i was overly impressed with the players level of fitness last night players looked knackered last 15 mins

13 Jul 2018 21:01:27
I think anyone who followed Rangers last season could see that too

13 Jul 2018 21:06:29
I 100% agree with what u are sayin, but what I don’t believe that Gerrard came out and said that regardless how true it is

13 Jul 2018 21:54:31
While I doubt Gerrard said these things maybe the guy OP talked to just infered them from a conversation with him?

Not saying I believe what OP said, everything said here has to be taken with a whole shovel full of salt but whether Gerrard said them or not it still rings true.

13 Jul 2018 21:56:58
Don’t see how saying what he said is slaying the club at all. Simply stating something that’s pretty obvious

13 Jul 2018 22:10:46
So someone who is a profesional sports would be happy with this, if your boss said your just not that good, u need to give me more, your bringing company down, would that give u a boost at work? No would feel rubbish n n unfair, regardless how we no it’s true, how is he going to get they to play for the team if they thought he said that about them?

I can believe it was said and I get what you’re saying about “lack of oomph” but for me the major difference is comparing our club to Liverpool atm is like comparing night and day! They play in the premier league in England one of the elite leagues in Europe and just reached the cream of the crop of European football- the champions league, our club plays in a diddy league and couldn’t get past the first round of Europa League last season! Fact is we do need someone to come in who has direction to take our club forward- our club is seeped in greatness but is now clueless on a direction for success! If Gerrard did say this it’s believable, I just hope he is knee deep wanting to fix it- he can’t do it on his own he needs a strong back room staff to help (that’s why Pedro had no chance)
This isn’t a slate on our club more like beginning to fix the problems of making our club great again, this is THE route of our problems
Furthermore this comparison can also be made with THEM, they couldn’t begin to believe they are on any wavelength with any top flight side down south, they’ve been getting away with murder with Brendan Rodgers crew holding their Mickey Mouse operation together for years- a matter of time before they find out they’re not in any better position than us!

i still think we are bang average team. We have spent nothing on the grand scheme of things.

Shagger is a step up but that's about it.

13 Jul 2018 23:29:21
Absolute Gumph u talk

14 Jul 2018 00:19:09
Think that’s pretty obvious from the fact he’s letting loads of players go. Pretty sure he’s sat them down and said thanks but no thanks. No matter how nicely he puts it’s he’s still saying most of them aren’t good enough and that’s because it’s true

14 Jul 2018 08:54:45
Loads of players go? There’s not that many that has left

14 Jul 2018 09:39:18
14 player have left and I would think a few more to follow if we can off load them, I'd say that's quite a lot would you not chipsandgravy?

14 Jul 2018 12:20:40
The ones that really need to go is
Hodson
Halliday
Cardoso
Herrera
Fod looks to be goin
That’s ones that were in about first team
And a few of what you talki are away on loan so hardly gon as they will be back

14 Jul 2018 13:15:12
I think we have to get rid of the deadwood at all levels of the running of the club

ITS A JOKE

ADMIN, Media and Marketing should be one of the priorities at this massive club

A Club the size of Rangers should be ran properly and only time will tell whether Dave King is even fit for purpose as he has also made a few cock ups of his own!

On the transfer front he is doing okay but then you have to look at lots more from youth right up to Advertising and getting the branding right out there

We also need proper and I mean proper scouting for overseas and not just in the UK

14 Jul 2018 13:22:40
chips and gravy, steak pie, pie and bovril, chilli n achos? are you all the same guy? starvin now!

14 Jul 2018 15:55:54
Just the one account for me brian, totally different views to these dudes!
SG obviously is very professional at what he does but it would be very unprofessional to say someone is up to the job if they are not or to say there doing well when there not! Players need to know that if they ain't good enough they will be gone, only way to keep them performing week in week out! He's got to be ruthless if he wants to win things, something with previous managers have lacked over the past few seasons!

14 Jul 2018 16:41:28
He has let loads go and he wants more to go. He’s not there to make players that aren’t good enough feel wanted

15 Jul 2018 09:31:31
was at the skhupi game. rangers players looked unfit, either a result of overworked training from a new eager manager or just lack of real fitness training from previous manager only time will tell. i'm assuming the later and giving stevie g the benefit of the doubt. from the look of the game we still need center forward, (hopefully omar up to it) but not convinced from youtube. and a central ball playing midfielder hopefully lassana. so it does look like gerrard addressing the issues in team. the 2 main positives from the game . we won the ball back quickly apart fromjust after ht. and middleton wow impressed keep it up.
