STV reporting that Rangers are closing in on a 1 year loan deal for Umar Sadiq of Roma. Looks like this one could have been resurrected.

Truly excellent signing if we seal it. The best yet, by a distance.

22 Jun 2018 11:44:51
I hope we have an option to buy or like Ejaria it makes no sense. Incidentally by the way :) Katic is going to be our best so far. Whoever is right great we are all enthused by our signings.

22 Jun 2018 11:54:18
We need a target man so I can understand why we are going for him, but tbh I don’t see him being much better than Herrera going by his YouTube highlights of last season at NAC, looks all arms and legs and a poor finisher

22 Jun 2018 11:56:43
Looks a v good player. Kind of player we need. a big target up front and someone who likes to make runs in behind defences.

22 Jun 2018 12:00:36
cannot wait to hear all the football experts tell us he's not Rangers class.

22 Jun 2018 12:05:51
@TGR you've clearly not watched much of him. Only reason he doesn't play for Roma more is SES and Dzeko are ahead of him. He's on the fringes of the Nigerian national team. Poor finisher? 5 in 13 in Holland for the 5th bottom team not good enough for you?

22 Jun 2018 12:07:34
Couldnt of been that bad at nec as they wanted him back this season

22 Jun 2018 12:14:52
Bluepete, loandeals will have to be done with the limited budgets in Scotland compared to elsewhere, especially on a major rebuild. We have bought in most areas, but to get all round quality then we have to loan as well. We have to look at the immediate season ahead, and then for the coming seasons we can add one or 2 top quality signings each window.

22 Jun 2018 12:23:09
Bluepete, why does it not make sense if a loan deal does not have an option to buy? A player might not be ready to break into a team at a level greater than ours, that player could obv do a job at our level hence the loan deal, goes back to parent a much better player. Alan mcgregor to the pars on loan for example. This system works both ways. We can't have the best teams best young players with an option to buy, otherwise we won't get them. We get a taste of their quality at our level and if they go back a better player then we have built a positive relationship with that club for future loan or permanent deals. What you also have to remember is that we could sign a St for 2mil for example, which is a massive fee for us and the loan player is probably a better player. I'm really struggling to see your thought process mate.

22 Jun 2018 12:27:00
Jay I'm all for loan signings IF they are much better than we have or we have an option to buy, option to buy gives us time to fully evaluate before splashing out. I'd argue however than Earia or Sadiq are not better than we have be very happy to be proven wrong.

22 Jun 2018 12:29:57
@rfcrb1872 Nope 5 in 13 in the Dutch league isn’t good enough for or me, the guy has 7 senior goals, far better options out there for us

22 Jun 2018 12:47:41
It wasn't clear that celtic had the option to but the lad from PSG. We will have some control of the player does well and they don't want him next summer we will have first dibs like celtic did with the French lad.

22 Jun 2018 14:01:38
@TGR Players with better records than that in similar quality leagues cost £5M+. Or more likely £10M.

22 Jun 2018 14:17:36
@TGR, out of curiosity who are these better options that are out there that we should be going for? ST that are quick, strong and can play and finish are usually quite expensive. I can't believe that you think umar sadiq is not any better than herrera. Each to their own opinion but with the greatest respect the lad is on the books of Roma so he must be a bit better than herrera. Unbelievable statement to make.

22 Jun 2018 15:24:32
Bluepete got to agree with coldo, players are usually on loan for development, if they have an option to buy there's usually a reason, their not wanted by their parent club and they want them off their books. Good prospects are usually wanted back.
TGR, I'm pretty sure I read that this boy was only used as a bit player so the goal ratio was actually a lot better than it looks at first glance.
Good strikers cost a lot of money and are in big demand.

22 Jun 2018 16:02:41
Damn, Dave King got it wrong again. why did he not appoint TGR as our manager - he clearly knows more about a player than SG!

22 Jun 2018 16:32:50
Stephen el Sharaawy and dzeko are not the only reason he doesn't play, there is about another 6 strikers in front of him.

22 Jun 2018 16:42:16
hes not scored many goals.

22 Jun 2018 16:48:15
would rather Oli Mcburnie and Jason Cummings. Umar Sadiq will have to play a min amount of games or we will be hit with £££ penalties by Roma i reckon.

The average age of the team must be well down now.

22 Jun 2018 17:36:28
JayP if loaners have an option to buy from a smaller team then they probably do have a reason but from a team like PSG who have money and are looking for finished articles like neymar as the top one surely willing to let top young talent leave and if they fulfill their potential just buy them back at whatever price. He’s definitely able to become a player

22 Jun 2018 18:16:16
i would like to see umar sadiq at ibrox next season as he is the big target man we have been looking for as far as for a deal to get fernando torres or Peter Crouch the money 2 bring anyone of them 2 ibrox would be over the head of DK

22 Jun 2018 18:32:03
I can't believe there are still "supporters" out there who think McBurnie and Cummings could play in our first team. They're both miles away from the standard we're aiming at. I think it must be the 'Moult, Walker, McLean, Crawford' gang at it again. Such a dreadful lack of ambition for our club.

22 Jun 2018 19:13:59
@coldo Bjorn Jonhsen who used to be at hearts got 19 goals in that league last season, I would of bought him

22 Jun 2018 22:16:58
McBurnie and Cummings are both internationals. Umar Sadiq can't get in a first team. SPL maybe to rough for him

22 Jun 2018 22:57:06
An absolute nonsense

22 year old Columbian who has already been here a year to be replaced by a 21 year old Nigerian with a below average striker rate on Holland. Not for me .

Morelos missed chances, of that we will all agree. But les not forget 1) he was our top scorer and 2) the young lad played 18mth straight. Would’ve been absolutely knackered from Feb to end of season and still run his socks off and made the runs/ spaces to get those chances

22 Jun 2018 23:03:13
McBurnie and Cummings are not Good enough if we want to win trophy’s again, Morelos will prove to be a very good player shortly and should be no1 choice hopefully with a guy with top level experience next to him whoever that may be

23 Jun 2018 01:13:18
Punter, guys who play in Western Samoa are internationals. The pair you're talking about have been capped by one of the poorest international teams in Europe. That doesn't make them even close to being good enough for us. What an absolutely ridiculous statement.

23 Jun 2018 11:37:40
@DK17 why write that? Absolute no contribution at all, just because I have an opinion on a player and it problably doesn’t match yours you have to take the piss?
