Rangers manager hunt takes new twist as bookies slash odds on Aitor Karanka.

Was thinking. What if we approached the Sheep soon after Pedro went AND with us having the £800k or whatever it is, they said that the Deal could only happen until after our double header?
Two big Games and they will not want to go into them Managerless! They will have been on the look out for an replacement weeks ago as they would have known that McInnes was on our List!
Always thought Strachan would be interested in Managing that lot!
Hope their No2 steps up and McInnes gives Wilkins a shout for the Assistant Position :)

Did Dave king not say he wanted someone which Scottish football experience? I don’t know much about that guy tbh

01 Dec 2017 10:53:04
I would bring Ferguson into the coaching team

01 Dec 2017 12:15:55
Gotta feeling that it's between McInnes and McLeish

01 Dec 2017 12:25:39
Why do people keep banging on about Ferguson as a coach what has he done he was pish at Clyde he thought he was bigger than the club when he was here keep him as far away from the club as possible

01 Dec 2017 12:46:35
Don't think he thought he was bigger than the club. When you care about something so much and it pains you when your team is suffering. Making noise shows passion and determination to right the wrongs. Was John Brown out of order when he took the mic at the front door of the main stand? Or is he a legend that would't stand by and see the club and fans mistreated?

I Don't get the anti- Barry Ferguson sentiment on these pages. The guy was one of the best midfielders to come out of Scotland and I know for a fact he used to play for us when nowhere near fit. He has heart and passion which we need in spades. A no brainer for me to bring him in as a coach.

01 Dec 2017 14:15:56
People going on about McInnes being next manager surely Tommy Wright is better choice+Knows SPL.

01 Dec 2017 14:26:06
King said there was no one out of contract that was suitable I think McInnes will be our next manager and personally I think he will be a good appointment

01 Dec 2017 14:40:18
I wouldn't want somebody with the mental capacity of Barry anywhere near our coaching set up.

01 Dec 2017 17:55:52
I like Barry but think some people are totally obsessed with him being part of the coaching team

01 Dec 2017 18:05:52
Not obsessed Deano. I just think he might be a good shout for a coaching role. He loves the club and was a great player for us.

01 Dec 2017 18:07:34
I'd rather have Wright over McInnes any day. Rather have McLeish before either of them mind you

02 Dec 2017 01:01:57
Im a huge fan of Ferguson from a coaching role point of view. Clyde was his first real non-player job. He bleeds Rangers. Put him under an experienced manager, put him through his badges and i think in 5-10 years he could lead the club. i'd be happy with McLeish/ Ferguson until End of season. Or Murty, as long as the players put in the same shift they did against Aberdeen. Given the pro-Celtic sentiment throughout the league right now i wouldnt be surprised to see Strachan at Aberdeen so Rangers men will be crucial in the next couple of years. Either way, RTID.

Blueger, sorry pal but this type of view is something which has held rangers back in the past. This job for the boys attitude gave us McCoist as manager - probably the worst ever Rangers manager, a manager that couldn't get us out of the championship, oh and not to forget the 8th highest paid manager in the UK (including EPL) when we were in the Scottish 4th Division. I personally don't like the idea of Ferguson being involved - but if he is I would have far more respect for him if he goes and proves his worth as a coach first, not simply be given a role because he bleeds blue. Remembering that not all players can be good coaches, it takes a certain type of person to be able to impart knowledge and to nurture and develop talent. So rather and just give him a job, let him go and prove that he is a good enough coach to be at Rangers.

Zikos - calling McCoist the worst manager ever is just disrespectful! No manager had ever been through what he had to a club this size! Just remember we were coasting the league, had beaten Celtic then it all went downhill after admin! Aye granted the lower leagues had some horror shows but the guy stuck it out

02 Dec 2017 19:54:25
id stick the lower leagues out if i was earnig what he did. if that info about 8th highest paid is true then that's disgusting. hyperbole maybe to say worst ever but definitely was a shambles

02 Dec 2017 20:11:41
He’s not the worst Rangers managers ever btw, that accolade would be reserved for Pedro or PLG in my opinion however I was raised in the glory years of 9 in row so there haven’t been many!

03 Dec 2017 00:26:23
Govanfront, apologies for that statement as I was born in '81 and started going to matches in '86 and so can't really comment on before that time. So let me rephrase and say McCoist is the worst Rangers manager since 1985, Fact!

It's amazing how quickly people forget the quite recent past. Yes he had an incredibly difficult time when we went into the 4th division. He only had a few weeks to get a team together and he was able to get one which was able to stroll the league, even though it was the second most expensive in the country. During that season he should have been making plans and foundations for the next 5 years but instead squandered millions of pounds in salaries to has beens like Kevin Kyle etc etc. The team at the time was absolute garbage and was proven to be when we eventually got into the 1st Division. Where not only couldn't we win the league, we couldn't even come second! Granted PLG wasn't successful and neither was Pedro but to come 3rd in a division which he should have been planning for 3 seasons with a massive playing budget is simply ridiculous! Yes the others failed, but failed at a higher level and so technically and factually he is worse.

P. s Its been a few years now since he left and I'm still baffled about having 11 players in the box whilst defending a corner, if someone could please explain the logic in the one I would appreciate it.
