Bookies suspend big eck to be next manager no offence I like him and what he did in the past but I think that appointment is taking a step backwards.

Agree8 Disagree14

27 Nov 2017 11:30:24
I agree, big eck is not the answer and if this is the best the board can come up with after 5 weeks of searching then we are doomed!

27 Nov 2017 11:33:29
Just one nightmare after another!
Pains me to say it but, a couple of comments today e. g. When was the last time we went to work on a Monday and spoke about football?
Also a number of guys I've spoken to recently, have had enough, they are giving their season tickets away most weeks.
Something VERY positive HAS to come out of the AGM or I fear we are only going to go one way.

27 Nov 2017 11:39:32
If that's true, then we are well and truly screwed financially! Never mind that his skill set has NO chance of advancing the team, but if after all this time we end up with a fella who has been begging for the job for as long as I can remember, it means we don't have a pot to piss in.

27 Nov 2017 12:03:38
The Betting suspended the time we were meant to be signing van persie as well.

27 Nov 2017 12:46:15
I know McLeish isn't everyone's choice BUT I can't believe rangers would've lost the last 2 games against the probably the 2 poorest sides in the league, with him in charge. He'd at least make us more solid defensively. Even if it was just till the end of the season, he'd be better than what we've got/ had.

27 Nov 2017 12:50:35
I know a number of people around me who sit at every game and have for many years through the good and bad and it has to be said that they are all of the opinion that if we were to appoint any of the following Mcleish, McLaren, Pardew or Pulis then they would be handing back their season tickets. These along with a lot of us have stood by through dark dark days but to end up with either of these and more importantly big Eck then I really can not argue for the board anymore. It is taking too long and to end up with him then I would be planning for finishing 5th this season, as Aberdeen, Hibs and Motherwell will finish above us. We keep going on about a football philosophy from the youth to the first team and this will not be the case if we have big Eck in charge, his teams are terrible and he only done ok the last time with far better players and bigger budgets than we have now. When he did spend or sign players the majority bar a select few were terrible. Look at his club record since he left, nothing to write home about and I for one do not think we should be going back the way at all.

27 Nov 2017 12:51:21
Told everyone months ago big eck and wee barry. They will have us at least winning matches and maybe stop losing to the likes of hamilton or motherwell.

27 Nov 2017 13:16:35
He denied any contact for the good of the club. “Important to end any speculation”

6 weeks after THEN getting him in? . that would make them look incapable. Same with Mcinnes .

27 Nov 2017 13:19:07
I'm not that excited about big eck but Barry Ferguson that would be the last straw for me why do people think he is a coach what has he done he thought he was bigger than the club when he was there

27 Nov 2017 13:20:19
I just don't understand how a manager who has not had a job in the last 2 years or so is a step forward, and if it is big Eck we end up with then why has it taken so long to appoint him, it is laughable how we are getting run, I mean what other team on the planet signs a manager who nobody's really heard of (Pedro) who only stays no more than 2 years at his previous clubs and then gives him a 3 year contract and back him with £8million, then employ a director of football after all that, it really is embarrassing now

27 Nov 2017 13:23:09
Absolute shambles if wee appoint McLeish.

In other words "we're skint and cannae afford anyone else"

Surely this isn't true!

27 Nov 2017 13:37:05
dont believe the bookies lads, i for one ain't buying it until goramsgloves man in the know confirms it 😛🤣

27 Nov 2017 13:49:46
Well have yous no realised we are skint. its not a step back, back from what? We are rank rotten with no manager and losing to the worst teams in the league. Pull your heads out your farters and be grateful if mcleish takes the job because no one else wants it and we are on the verge of another boycott. Things get any worse the red n black scarfs will be back out.

27 Nov 2017 14:00:31
Big eck comes in fergie comes in mcinnes comes in mccall comes in etc etc i don't care who is in i will support them 100%

See as long as rangers fc play and winning against the accies the well the dundee the killie the sheep the smell tic etc etc i don't care if it hoopy the hound in the dug out

We are rangers we all support rangers we all want to see rangers win etc etc if so get behind murty and who ever comes in instead of moaning and slating people before they are even in the door

if you can't well do what someone posted and hand your season tickets back no wonder the club if in half a state it if fans moan slating players coaches etc support them stick by them and we will all get were we want rangers fc to be top of spl etc

27 Nov 2017 14:09:40
Since big eck left rangers Scottish football has been pushed back 5-6 steps to say he would be a step back is idiotic in my opinion rangers need someone of his experience in soon and everyone saying he made brutal signings are right but name a manager who doesn't! He is one of a few who won the treble all be it was lucky but we done it under his stewardship we conceded from a set peice against Dundee and a sloppy pass at the back from mcrorrie in the Hamilton game big eck wouldn't stand for that we would have a guy upfront u could rely on if the team was pressing your back line u could hoof it forward and the ball would stick up there or if they sit back we had width to go down the flanks and pace to get in behind two solid centre backs that wouldn't get beat at set pieces I'd back big eck but I'm just pointing out the positives it would bring I'd back anyone appointed next manager it's rangers follow follow!

27 Nov 2017 14:21:43
Kaymer I admire your loyalty but we are not winning we are being pumped by teams at the bottom of the league and teams just above that with a fraction of the budget we have we have a board who tell us nothing who hired the last two managers who have been an absolute disaster million squandered of rubbish but you say we should forget all that and just support the team blindly if we had adopted that attitude from the start we would still have Green Ashley Easdales ETC sometimes the fans have to stand up and fight for the club they love

27 Nov 2017 14:29:26
Thats why we need a mcleish or so in right now no disrespect to murty but someone with more experience

27 Nov 2017 14:33:38
Big eck comes in for instance gers start winning finish 2nd to smell tic would the fans here shouting NO BIG ECK be still shouting that?

I don't THINK SO

27 Nov 2017 14:38:04
Mcleish would steady the ship and get the boys fired up If res 11 gets passed we will still need to wait and see how much revenue it will generate we need a manager who can get us into Europe for next season and the Scottish cup

27 Nov 2017 14:45:05
Laymen he wouldn’t be my first choice but if it is big Eck so be it but why o why has it taken over four weeks to get a guy who has been unemployed for over eighteen months Murty has been hung out to dry he’s out of his depth if we were to loose on wed we’d be nine points behind Aberdeen going to pitoddrie it’s a complete shambles open your eyes big eck is not a wizard

27 Nov 2017 15:03:22
No one said he was a wizard or miracle worker but he has the experience just now to get gers on track the same way sir walter did many years ago

If no eck would love to see sir walter back

27 Nov 2017 15:08:27
I hope when you hand back your Season ticket that you are made to wait years for a new one when times are good again. We don't need fans who only support when we're winning and don't need thinly veiled threats from them either. Close the door on your way out. RTID.

27 Nov 2017 15:41:38
Now big eck saying there's been no contact who ever the manager is going to be this has been a shambles no transparency the board are accountable for this my feeling is there's more to it the AGM will be extremely interesting

27 Nov 2017 16:04:04
who says big eck has been approached, the papers, the bookies, the trolls, i don't believe he has, but would it be a bad thing if he took it on the understanding that it is only till the end of the season so the club can get itself in order for next season there's nobody else who i can think of who would take it under those conditions but i think eck would, he is a better option than leaving murty till the season is over

27 Nov 2017 16:09:24
SSN - Alex Mcleish tells SSN that he's had no contact with Rangers over the managers job - Mcleish says he's surprised to be linked with job after one bookmaker suspended betting on his return -Betting is still available with at least one main bookmaker - but Mcleish is shown at 1/ 6 on -

27 Nov 2017 18:18:09
If it's McLeish, then unfortunately it says it all about the ambitions of our club.

However, something has to change and fast. Murty has the look of McDowell when he was in a similar position which doesn't bode well for the next few games.

Whatever, we need answers from the top.

27 Nov 2017 22:04:32
He would be a terrible choice. His record is always made to sound better than it is. 6 trophies in 6 years sounds great except when you point out he won 5 of the 6 in his first year and a half. He was a disaster after what I will concede was an amazing start. 1 trophy in four years is why he got sacked. That and a run of ten league games without a win so I can’t understand people saying, ye but he would stop us losing

27 Nov 2017 22:44:50
McLeish and Walter in the same sentence? Is that a joke? The guy is rank rotten. We will still be shouting no McLeish because there is no chance we would take us to second place. Who is going to respect a part-time pundit who hasn't had any success for years?

I don't want this shambles to continue but Alex McLeish would be another waste of money. Next appointment is vital, need a manager for the long term not the next two months.

27 Nov 2017 22:31:08
Eck definitely not in the running for the job.
I stated on here that Pedro would be the next manager and got shot down.
Take it on good authority that barring any unforeseen circumstances. Pardew will be named the manager before Friday.
Big news on a massive investment to be announced also when pardew has been confirmed.

28 Nov 2017 00:23:36
Mcleish is better than pardew, if pardew gets in don't be surprised to see mike ashley back in town.

28 Nov 2017 01:51:17
Pardew is on his way to West Brom. Hope you right about the investment mind you.

28 Nov 2017 02:29:57
Agree if pardew gets job the big in vestment will be from the ass ley who will buy king out and in few year you will all be shouting ass ley out just like newcastle fans have been for years

If pardew turns down wba for gers god help rangers fc with ass ley back

28 Nov 2017 04:04:32
I just think that if the Board cannot find someone who they feel can take the job on at the moment then I think and due to what's happened then get Walter in until end of Season!
Don't know who his No2 would b but would prefer Kevin Thomson than Barry back at Ibrox.
If we can't get McInnes then I'd rather hav Walter than a Manager from abroad or McLeish Pardew Allerdyce Davis MCLAREN!
Smith would 100% steady the ship and could handle the Job for the rest of the Season. It's got to this point Bears. Thoughts.
I

28 Nov 2017 08:17:37
I can't see for the life of me Walter coming back he is enjoying his retirement with his family and rightly so he is a legend why would he tarnish all that by taking the job now we are nearly five weeks since the sacking of Pedro this is astonishing their is no point in taking someone till the end of the season there is a transfer window in January so we need players out and in this team will not finish second no matter who is in charge it needs changes for god sake we could be nine points behind Aberdeen after We'd then an away game at Pittodrie so whoever takes the job has to be here for three four years min it's got to be his players who comes in during Jan we can't bring someone in short time get the team playing his style then someone in next season then start to change again we need stability someone who can get the team playing build for the future I will be going to the AGM on Thurs and I really hope the board pulls a rabbit out of the hat as I think it's going to be a bumpy ride if we are skint and can't afford the manager or players we want tell us don't just close the doors and take the fans for granted
