Pena allegedly homesick, could be just a rumour but something is not right.

I heard he was over weight when he first came over and was told to go and get in shape whilst his work permit was getting sorted and he came back fatter than before. Not sure if there's any truth in it but it's bizarre our most expensive signing in recent years is nowhere near starting.

09 Aug 2017 20:44:40
Don't think the nightclubs in glasgow are up to his standard although when I saw him in sauchiehall street at 3 in the morning he looked in fine form.

09 Aug 2017 20:52:50
I heard the same story

He's been her for 3/ 4 weeks now surely he should be just about fit enough for Dunfermline best way to get match fit is too play football

09 Aug 2017 21:54:32
Can all you sport scientists please post your qualifications when making the assumption he should be fit after 3 to 4 weeks. WTF do any of you know on his fitness level and how long will it take to reach a suitable level and how to achieve that. Or is it a case of get a sausage supper down you and get out there, boot the ball up and someone will head it in. Get a grip, the guys looking after one of our prize assets are very well qualified in their fields although I must admit they have no qualifications on conspiracy theories. I despair sometimes. If anyone follows this up have some effing knowledge.

09 Aug 2017 22:31:20
I heard his extra training, has been to work on having less time on the ball. Supposedly Alves and midfielders working with him. To get used to being pressured more.

09 Aug 2017 23:11:56
Tjbb, for 2.5 mil I would expect him to be fit and ready to go on day one.

09 Aug 2017 23:16:25
That's what I'm led to believe r8nny. Apparently he's been struggling with the pace and physicality of the training sessions so Pedro's giving him time to acclimatise before playing him. Wise move for me because some of our support would have him written off after 1 or 2 poor performances. We knew the Mexicans would take longer than the other signings to settle in so we just need to be patient.

Coldo, 2.5million is SFA for a full top quality international. Yes he has strayed in Mexico, who wouldn't - crazy country. But he has traveled thousands of miles to fight with our club, he has no family, can't speak the lingo and knows nothing of our country and game. If you ask me that takes balls. Could we do that? Give him time he could be a superstar. If it doesn't work out it won't be for the want of trying. Only Let our enemies chip away at us, please support our club and players no matter what.
Anyone willing to predict top 4 for SPL?

10 Aug 2017 07:51:39
Anyone else think we are jumping the gun a bit here. there has only been 1 league game played? It isn't like we are 15 games into a season and he has missed a ton of games. Give the guy a chance

10 Aug 2017 08:09:14
Top 4: Celtic-Rangers-Hibs-Aberdeen

10 Aug 2017 10:03:06
Its a disgrace he isn't fit to make the squad now and there's no excuses for it, an absolute disgrace!

10 Aug 2017 10:07:31
TJBB where your qualification too say he shouldn't be fit by now lmao

I never said he should be fully match fit but surely he could run on a park against Dunfermline for 45 mins and surely that would help him get some practice in for the speed of our game Does take a degree in coaching or sports science but I just some plain old commen sense. Best way to learn something is by doing it. I fully believe he will be a very good player and yes must be hard but you pay me what he's on and al go work in Outer Mongolia. He's a grown ass man home sick is for kids missing there mummy's.

10 Aug 2017 10:16:40
Tjbb, surely a top quality international should at least be fit. Why are we signing players at 2.5mil who are not fit? That doesn't make any sense at all.

10 Aug 2017 10:34:10
I appreciate the problems I do hold a science honours degree. Would you fly in an aircraft that was 75% okay, let a nearly qualified surgeon operate on you, take a 2.5 million supercar out with no oil ans 3 wheels, let Donald Trump run the free world, rubbish no that ones true.
Why would you risk our most expensive player in a game that was won in the first 10 minutes just so we can see him injured or performs poorly due to fitness then all insundry can gloat, WTF
Sport science has come a long way since the 70s, that's why KM is still playing when he is 37. Ask yourself would that have happened 30 yrs ago. These guys are athletes and have to be looked after and only when the team working on him says he is mentally and physically ready will he play.

10 Aug 2017 11:38:28
Tjbb, what you havering about, we paid 2.5mil for this guy and the only sighting we have is from a guy who hid in bushes at murray park. For 2.5mil I expect him to have 2 arms 2 legs a c@$k and baws and fully fit. oh and should be able to kick a ball aswell.

10 Aug 2017 12:02:42
"Would you fly in an aircraft that was 75% okay"
Idiotic argument. No one's going to die if he played 45 mins against Dunfermline.
For the record "nearly qualified" surgeons do operate on people.

10 Aug 2017 16:37:56
TJBB, don't know what sausage suppers and your science honours degree have to do with it. If Pena is injured and not fit we can accept that. That is not the issue. The issue is we invested £3.1m in a player who appears to have baggage on and off the park that is interfering with his ability to perform for us on the park.

10 Aug 2017 23:32:56
Jeez! Some people are desperate to slag off anything about the team. who or what are you going to pick on if Pena stars in the Celtic match?

Honestly think you guys need to take a happy pill and get real

10 Aug 2017 23:33:07
Where is this hibs giing to b third coming from! That's a few folks posted that on here! I do think they've recruited well and holding on to mcginn is a positive however!, we signed well on paper last year too! Niko, Barton etc! Wasn't as plain sailing as we had all hoped tho! And niko, Barton both played at the top level! Both have international recognition (Barton once albeit! ) niko was a star man with a cracking technically gifted Croatia side!

I honestly don't think hibs will be top 4 if i'm honest! I reckon they'll be scraping to make the top 6 come split time! And I'll be bold here and say that hearts will finish above them! They'll steady the ship with a new manager and the wee ginge will be spitting the dummy again in arguably the second biggest derby in Scotland! ! (Fighting it out with the dundee teams for that honour I think! )

10 Aug 2017 23:36:22
In my opinion the league is going like this

Rangers
Celtic
Aberdeen
Hearts
St johnstone
Hibs

Optimistic I know but I'm a died in the wool rangers man and will always believe we can win this league! ! Especially after our performance last night as I think with morelos we have a real goal threat!

11 Aug 2017 02:27:52
Celtic
Rangers
Aberdeen
Hibs
St Johnstone
Hearts

I expect the gap between 1st and 2nd to be at least half of last years and 2nd and 3rd to be tight with the others bunched together.

12 Aug 2017 23:51:50
Btw I think the pena situation is worrying! ! We've paid a lot of money for this guy and I have no doubt he has bags of ability but come on! Even niko after his bad injury managed a run out against the pars! And we all know niko is not the fittest at the best of times. Surely with rangers 4 or 5 nil up was the time to introduce pena with no pressure involved! Instead he comes on against his when we're down to 10 men and losing! mind boggling!

And into the bargain! I h8 losing! But I h8 losing even more to a Neil lennon team! (Was bad enough with Alan stubbs! )
