my uncle works in london through investments and he said that there is rumours of the deal being terminated as well

is there a possibility due to newcastle being promoted?

conflict of intrests possibility.

The deal was struck when Newcastle were in the premiership so it can't be a conflict of interest

09 May 2017 09:56:57
I hope that this is true. I want to be able to wear my teams jersey and pay for it knowing that the money will go to rangers rather than fat one.

Hope there is some truth in this, what a boost that would be 🤞🏻

The court case has nothing to do with Newcastle and Ashley. Green as a director didn't do what was in the best interests of Rangers football club or any shareholder, the board are hoping to have the contracts ripped up due to this. Which is seems could be happening.

I think common sense will prevail eventually. Ashley will tear up contract, and we will give Sports Direct and our Megastores exclusive rights to sell the jersey. And once the shirts start to fly off the shelves, we get our proper share and SD although only getting a small percentage still make a tidy sum. win win.

If the retail deal gets torn up, why in gods name would we give sports direct the rights to sell our kit? It would be two fingers up to the fat man and we would saunter off into the sunset with our retail in our back pocket.

The deal was struck when Newcastle were in the premiership yes, but we were in the lower leagues and not top flight in Scotland. now rangers are in the top flight and also Newcastle's promotion back to the EPL, it is a conflict of interest.

you can't have anything to do with two top flight clubs in the U.K. Meaning sports direct have to terminate our contract or Newcastle's and Mike Ashley will not terminate Newcastle contract so it only makes sense to terminate ours so we could be well rid of sports direct, about time too.

Also my sources tell me that rangers have major investment coming from the Middle East can't say more than that at the moment unfortunately it's a work in progress at the moment hopefully it will happen

Southsideger, the retail deal is between a sports manufacturer and rangers .
It has absolutely nothing to do with Newcastle the football club .

If you had said Ashley's shares in both clubs could be a conflict of interests then your point may have been credible

The contract only allows sports direct to exclusively sell merchandise .

09 May 2017 12:48:41
I don't think that's correct southsideger. Doesn't the conflict of interest arise when both team would be entering the same competition? So next season if Newcastle qualify for europa league and we do. One of us wouldn't be able to compete as long as Ashley has a vested interest in both clubs

From what I believe it's the court case between chuckles and rfc. It's an unopposed motion so chuckles has basically conceded. This case rangers brought to court regarding the naming rights of stadium. In that agreement was the 7 year notice period. i'm not a lawyer but I would think with Rangers winning the case those contract and or notice period would be terminated. If someone in law could confirm or deny this that would be great👍

Well Coldo, it may be the fact that SD love it or hate it, is by far and away the biggest sports retailer in the UK, that we'd give it to them. They"d sell a pile at £30 a pop, whilst you would have them sitting in Greaves or JD Sports at £50-60.selling none.

09 May 2017 14:09:22
Ashley is a shareholder in both clubs and not a director in either I think, therefor no conflict.

09 May 2017 14:22:19
You can't have a controlling interest in two clubs in the uk if they might meet in the same tournament. Ashley doesn't have a controlling interest in rangers anymore.

09 May 2017 18:39:25
No self respecting rangers fan would ever set foot in SD regardless if the retail deal is torn up or not.

09 May 2017 19:22:28
Well said coldo.

09 May 2017 21:19:11
fatman never had a controlling interest, he has same shares as he always had

09 May 2017 22:09:45
Very well said coldo. I guarantee just as many rangers strips would be sold without using sd. All our fans will be going crazy for them once contract is terminated
