Josh Meekings rumoured. Solid CB, 23 yrs old, has experience in league and tbf would be a good signing for us. Senderos doesn't necessarily need to sign today since he's a Free Agent but I'd take Meekings, will be cheaper in the long run over a guy that "wants other offers".

Agree14 Disagree4

Meekings would be a better fit for us than most of the other people we're linked with. He has the experience in the league and is a really solid player. Would love to see him join

Him and senderos would be a pretty great partnership I reckon.

31 Aug 2016 10:37:21
Don't think you can blame Senderos for hedging his bets after we have messed him about. They brought him in for a trial when it looked like they had no intention of signing him as they wanted Lescott and whether it's true or not there are rumours Rangers held off after this as they were hopeful of someone else.

31 Aug 2016 10:40:51
that is i good shout but do we have money to spend it seems not.

31 Aug 2016 10:57:44
We have money to spend. People seem to forget that signing players even on a free cost money, Senderos might want a signing on fee etc, Meekings will be a cheaper alternative and in the future with European experience etc can bring us afew mil down the line - Senderos won't. He has value in him. ---- We were trialing players and he was aware of that, he understands our philosophies but its down to again, whether he wants to sign for us and be part of our future. We have plenty of time to make a decision on him and can easily sign a player by the end of today such as Meekings.

31 Aug 2016 11:04:30
Good point, how much do you guys reckon it would be to get Meekings?

31 Aug 2016 11:28:11
we are picking the cheap option regarding freebies and old players king promised money for transfers for this window and that has not happnend.

31 Aug 2016 11:32:01
Josh Meekings is not solid guys, he's worse than RK and hopefully this is just nonsense. I'm hoping MW has a trump card up his sleave to sign a powerful fast CB before midnight. there has to be loads of decent CBs needing game time and available on loan from the premiership. Someone like Denayer that no one had heard of but done a great job for the other lot. No more 30+ permanent signings please.

31 Aug 2016 11:49:58
£250k for Rossiter, £1.5M for Garner, £220K for Windass and Crooks.

So explain to me how King promising money this window hasn't happened.

Some folk need to get their heads out the ground and realise we can't go throwing money about we don't have. We don't even have control of our merchandising finances so basically run off ticket sales.

Live in the real world and don't post complete nonsense.

31 Aug 2016 11:56:18
In all fairness guys I would be happy with any CB at the moment as long as they are better than the guys we have just now regardless if we get them on the cheap or for nothing, We desperately need a CB before this game next Saturday or I can't see it looking good for us. Even if MW can get a right decent CB in on loan I would be happy with that.

You forget signing on fees, agent fees, possible appearance fees etc. Too many dumb fans out there that don't understand how transfers really work.

31 Aug 2016 12:03:12
YES STU I agree with you againg bring back bougy for nothing problem solved.

31 Aug 2016 12:15:29
Blu stu - it's quite simple, the money you reffer to came from season ticket money and from reductions in wage bill from the players that left at end of last season. NOT from David King.

Nobody wants club to spend money it doesn't have but DK made some very clear promises he hasn't kept, that's true whether you see him as the clubs saviour or just another shady character.

"We will sign a team of Scott Allans" last summer.

"There will be significant sums available in January" last summer

"We will invest heavily (upon promotion) in summer market to compete with Celtic" January

"We will invest around 15m to compete with Celtic" January

"Significant money will be made available in January" this summer

"We will invest significant sums to compete again at European level" this summer

These are just a few of his quotes, unless your calling him a liar (which he is)

Am I right in saying we still aren't backed by a bank? Might be a reason we aren't splashing the cash but he's probably paying better wages for the likes of Barton etc because they aren't paying transfer fees.

31 Aug 2016 12:59:05
I can't see Meekings costing more than 150k. Inverness have no money and they never secure their players on long term deals.

31 Aug 2016 13:13:13
All negative again mr nice. what is your agenda?

It clearly has nothing to do with supporting RFC.

31 Aug 2016 13:18:03
BR65 that's the most pathetic comment iv seen on this site.

Because you disagree that means I'm not a rangers fan. Grow up.

I could say the fans supporting a chairman who is a shameless liar and has caused massive problems for the club off the pitch are not proper rangers fans- only i'm not that pathetic.

31 Aug 2016 13:19:12
Not everyone who can see the faults and failures has an agenda, it's called intelligence.

31 Aug 2016 13:43:30
Mr Nice, I'm not doubting that you're a Rangers fan, I'm doubting your ability to grasp basic mathematics. Using your logic, my season ticket and everyone else's must've cost around £10,000 each.

I support DK and think he's doing a great job at trying to rebuild our club. His Q&A was a masterclass and he gained a lot of respect from me for that.

31 Aug 2016 14:32:12
mr nice what massive problems off the pitch has mr king made?
the retail deal and cancelling of said contracts is something that he has to do for the clubs survival we can't compete with celtic aslong as that's in place and the 7 year grace notice is unheard of!
so would u rather we stay with the fat rat and the simple maths of 4 pence to the pound we make just now while celtic have the best deal in their entire history!

what is your agenda mr nice, I wanted to spend lots of money as did every ragers fan but such stupidity can not be allowed.

31 Aug 2016 14:34:07
every millionaire is a liar Mr nice I suppose you would prefer green back eh?

31 Aug 2016 17:36:53
King is no better than Murray, Whyte or Green.

Can't believe that have to explain the trouble he has caused.

Instead of quietly exploring all legal options and taking a softly softly approach with Ashley he came straight out from day one and declared war on him. Even before he had gained control of the board his personal war with Ashley was going to be a major factor in the long and short term future of the club.

Then there's the farce over the strips, the fact we are in breach of contract with one of the worlds largest sports companies and the even bigger farce that is our handling of the retail company. We actually allowed Ashley very recently to vote on two new members to that board, even though we had the majority on the board and could have easily blocked it.

Honestly no wonder fans of other clubs are laughing.

No wonder our club is getting a bad name when journalists point these facts out they get threatened and abused.

Every time someone points these facts out they get at best branded negative or attacked via a ridiculous pack mentality.

I remember when Celtic were the paranoid ones.

31 Aug 2016 20:49:00
Mr Nice, you act like you've never heard of Mike Ashley or any of his dealings. They guy is a bottom feeder. Him and the previous board have drained us dry so of course DK was going to go to war with this chump. Any of us would. I'm happy he's started this war. No surrender Dave King.

31 Aug 2016 22:47:05
Mr Nice u need to go and do one mate, all u seem to bring to this is negativity, just go and be a wee neagative man and keep that negativity to urself thanks.

01 Sep 2016 04:27:46
Cant understand why you wouldn't want Dave King 👑 to attack fatty? I'm delighted with the man, and I'll support him and his board all the way, King 👑 has taken the rats on in court, and not lost, he is standing up for Rangers, and I worship the guys, you must remember he and other people begged The real cause of our problems Murray not to sell to the rat,? You forget that? He warned us all that Murray was selling to anyone who came from the gutter, and along with Alastair Johnston, and a few others was desperate to save our club, he didn't have to come back from his luxurious life in SA, he loves Rangers, always has, Richard Gough is one of our greatest ever captains, and always supported King 👑, thatl do for me, and if you think he's stealing from Rangers? Then you are very wrong.
