According to the Sunday post Jason Cummings and Graham Dorrans are soon to follow joey Barton to Rangers.

With all these Midfielders coming in, I feel like Halliday and Holt will struggle to maintain their first team places. Which is a shame given the season they've had!

I don't see why we would want Dorrans. he has another year on his contract and cost Norwich 3Mill last summer, has been constantly slated for his sideways passing. If we close the Barton deal, we would have bought 4 midfielders (Crooks/ Windass/ Rossiter/ Barton) we certainly would not need another with Holt/ Halliday/ Thompson/ Burt plus Shiels and law still about.

Halliday can cover at left back as well so at least we don't need another LB to cover Wallace. I'm sure he will get game time through the season, maybe not a solid starter every game but he will play. Holt though, I don't know. Lots of competition for that floating role in midfield now, just don't know if he will hold down that role over others next season.

Given the schedule and if we get a european run we need a squad that can deal with it, every player gets their chance and as long as there's competition for places and a lean squad of about 20 first team players with the youth mixing in and around taht then we'd be in good stead.
We're about to lose players too, specifically midfielders and we've been crying out for a natural holding player, if we signed Barton then that would be Law and Shiels replaced, who would have been on substantial wages given their time and bonus increase whenever we got promoted.
We need competition for places, no sentiment in football but given the guys have gave us such a good season i'd assume any signings are there to show them there's no complacency and their position isn't a given.

Law and Shiels will be gone anyway. Was watching the Accrington v Wimbledon game last night and Windass was shite, would have holt starting over him any day of the week. Would take Cummings though, I'm sure Warburton would sort him out and he's only 20, so still has a lot to learn and bags of potential.

I don't agree rfcteddybear, look at all the players in midfield that'll be moving on shiels, law and zelalem all he's done is improve the team by shifting on lesser players for dorrans, barton, windass and rossiter if all goes to plan. I agree holt and halliday won't be guaranteed starters but law, shiels and zelalem have had their oppurtunites this season and so will they two.

Ed001. You heard anything re Danny ings being available for loan next season and Rangers currently enquiring about taking him? Would've thought it was far fetched personally as we'd only probably afford a small portion of his wages but this is the latest proposed signing target from a poster on another site who called Rossiter and Barton deals way before the media even got a sniff of it. He's normally bang on the money and his info is from the same source he got the other two from.

Ok, cheers ed. Given this guys track record on calling transfer targets over past few windows (he also had halliday and Holt pegged before papers got wind of it previously) I was hoping there may be something to it as he'd be an absolute stand out up here and this guy clearly has a good source but oh well lol. I do recall warburton saying a few weeks ago it'd be late July/ August before any epl loans would be looked at so ties in with your assessment too.

I like Holt and Halliday we might get a few sniffs from English teams for rhem Holt especially could play in there championship. I am sure if we don't ask for to much. We might be able to of him for around 1 million with what is on his contract.

Wee Ally- Holt and Halliday were immense for us this season and hopefully they stay in the team.
We have Rossiter so hopefully another midfield player to be signed but Dorrans and Barton will command massive wages. Can't see us signing both of them.

Holt and Halliday have been good this year. can't see them hanging around for a spot ob the bench Both are good enough to play for there country abd need a regular game.

Would be genuinely delighted if we could sign those two. For all Cummings off field issues and his appalling taste in hair do's I think the gaffer could turn him into a real star that we could make serious profit on. Dorrans would add extra creativity to the midfield. All we need is a solid centre half and the title is in the bag.
