Everyone with a crdiable source will not revel them for on reason or another. Info i have on the tax case is it will take week/ 2 weeks to have everything agreed. Figure agreed is 8.3 million. It wont b confirmed until it has been agreed and signed by the representitives of both mr whyte and HMRC.rumours going around sayin that Sir David Murray will pay a percentage of the bill, its crap, although is still involved with things at ibrox. I dont know why though.

Believable15 Unbelievable44

Although this doesn't seem believable, I firmly believe that Rangers will pay a fraction of what is being thrown about. It happens all the time with tax cases, always a settlement thats much lower than expected.

Agree0 Disagree0

But why would they accept that figure when they already rejected an offer of Ł10m? Doesnt make sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

And who "gave" YOU this info, Mr Lullaby in your dreams. No one can get a sniff of anything - not one tabloid or Radio Station has anything to report, not even those two clowns, RTC or Phil Macfail, yet YOU have the Information.

Agree0 Disagree0

No one knows anything yet. however its a reasonable assumption to say they will pay a fraction of the price. although administration is "plan D", if they did HMRC wouldnt get a penny. therefore it would be in hmrc interest to settle for a smaller amount and get payed than a big amount and not.. no sources here, just thinking outloud. whats peoples thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with above this post. You must have leverage if you wish to bargain. Administration is Whyte's leveraging tool...Pretty ruthless stuff, but ultimately we have no choice - nail biting scenario, but we will rise like a phoenix here folks..mark my words!

Agree0 Disagree0

Wait and see why try to guess? Id hardly say its rumour or banter .We await the facts of the outcome and no amount of conjecture is required so bears lets not tax ourselves any longer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id be inclined to look at cases down south ie portsmouth leicester etc 10 point deduction pay a penny in the pound owed and crack on 10 points off still top league won by xmas timothy crying. AGAIN

Agree0 Disagree0

If the supporters owed the tax man, they would have to pay, rangers or any other club should pay what they owe,p.s.dont cry when you get caught.it was good while it lasted, but it was cheating, and cheats have to pay, please dont argue.we dont live in a third world country, honesty comes before trophies,

Agree0 Disagree0

You must be as honest as f*** then, because your team wins f*** all......

Agree0 Disagree0

Haha what utter nonsense!! Yeah HMRC would negotiate an agreement with Rangers and THEN go through the costly exercise of having a tribunal!? I think you need to step away from the computer mate and go have a long walk in the fresh air. Truth is no one yet knows the outcome but with the rejection of a settlement offer by HMRC and the noises coming out of Ibrox tells me it ain't gona end well for the Blue Brigade

Agree0 Disagree0

Why pay 1p in the pound when the lowest you can offer is a 10th of a penny no need for extravagance times are hard all round and Ł50,000 sounds about fare

HMRC are to start procedings against
900 Tax avoidance issues across the UK,
companies will have to be under scrutiny
for five years and produce tax returns
on a quarterly basis dont know if they
can claim back much of the tax owed
by any of these companies as it is very
difficult to prove exact ammounts involved,as it is classed as tax avoidance
rather than evation which is a criminal
offence.MCR Tax Arrears Solutions Duff & Phelps

Calling Time on Tax Evasion

Calling time on tax evasion

900 targeted in latest HMRC initiative - tax cheats face five years' detailed scrutiny

The establishment of the MDD ("Managing Deliberate Defaulters") programme to monitor the affairs of those who have deliberately evaded tax for a period of between two to five years, is the latest initiative to come from HMRC in its drive to halt the UK's escalating tax arrears position. This is according to Steve Clancy, Partner at tax arrears specialists, MCR.

Steve Clancy states: "MDD will closely monitor the tax affairs of individuals and businesses who have deliberately evaded tax to ensure that they are complying with their tax obligations and have demonstrated a permanent change in their behaviour. This initiative, announced a few months ago and only now being implemented, is the latest in a string of initiatives being rolled out by HMRC as it evolves its strategy to tackle what some people believe to be a mountain of Ł50 billion in overdue tax."

"Under the provisions of the MDD there is no right of appeal and a number of intrusive measures are being considered to enforce compliance. 900 MDD's have already been targeted by HMRC so beware!" he added.

The Government itself announced the scheme in February when David Gauke, Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, said:
"Managing Deliberate Defaulters will deter people from evading tax in the future and reassure honest taxpayers that tax evaders will be dealt with. This government has made it clear that we will not tolerate people who refuse to pay their fair share and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will pursue those who bend or break the rules."

Steve Clancy continued: "HMRC has also made it clear that the level and term of monitoring will depend on the seriousness of the offence, but it is not envisaged that anyone will be released from the programme within two years."

There are a variety of ways HMRC can monitor a deliberate defaulter's tax affairs. These include:

Making announced or unannounced inspection visits to carry out pre-return checks of company books and records.
Asking for certain records so that they can be checked.
Requiring that additional information or documents are sent in with the person's tax returns.

Conducting in-depth compliance checks into all or any part of the person's tax affairs.
Observing and recording the person's business activities and cross-checking details in their accounts.

For VAT customers HMRC may require submission of quarterly or monthly VAT returns as well as require the same accounting periods for VAT and Income Tax or Corporation Tax.

Steve Clancy continued: "Evaders who fail to keep their tax affairs in order will face increasingly intrusive interventions from HMRC and if deliberate evasion continues, HMRC may also start criminal proceedings. So our message is clear: HMRC is evolving the way it is viewing the issue of tax arrears and it is taking a number of radical steps to protect the interests of the UK tax payer. For businesses large and small evading the taxman is simply no longer going to be an option. Tax arrears have to be addressed because HMRC is not the lender of last resort!"

Please post me your office number so you can be my lawyer when it goes to court cause you know you stuff m8.

The first image rights case tested by HMRC before the Tax Special Commissioners was in April 2000 and involved payments made by Arsenal to David Platt and Dennis Bergkamp.

Until recently, few people thought of tax when thinking of football.- So, how much of this is true, and how much is media sensationalism?
First of all, it’s worth pointing out that, despite recent publicity, clubs have been making payments for use of players’ images for at least ten years. The first case tested by HMRC before the Tax Special Commissioners was in April 2000 and involved payments made by Arsenal to David Platt and Dennis Bergkamp. HMRC claimed that the arrangements whereby Arsenal made payments made to Platt and Bergkamp for use of their images, were simply a 'smokescreen' for paying them money offshore to avoid tax. HMRC asked the Special Commissioners to determine that the payments were effectively additional payments made to the players for playing football, which should have treated as earnings, i.e. subjected to income tax and NIC via Arsenal’s payroll.
The Commissioners, however, decided that the payments were legitimately made in return for allowing Arsenal to exploit the players’ images, a purpose entirely different to playing football, for which they were paid a salary via the payroll.- Why is it such a big issue for HMRC?"Typically, image rights payments may account for 15 to 20 per cent of a player’s total remuneration package, and for genuine superstars even more"
The amounts at stake are substantial. In straightforward arrangements for British players, the differential between personal and company tax rates means that for each UKŁ100,000 paid as image rights rather than salary, HMRC stands to lose up to UKŁ36,000 in tax and NIC.
Recently, more aggressive tax planning arrangements for British players may enable loans to be taken from image rights companies which may be made almost tax free. Depending on the exact arrangements, it may even be possible to write off these loans later without attracting a further tax liability.
If payments are made to offshore image rights companies, as is usually the case for foreign players, the losses can be considerably greater as no UK tax may be payable.- So why doesn’t HMRC simply collect this tax?
However, perhaps fuelled by the government’s dash for cash, negotiations recommenced in late 2010; this time HMRC tried to band clubs by reference to turnover, with the percentage of image rights payments being treated as liable to tax and NIC increasing as turnover decreased. The cynical may say that this was a blatant attempt to gain agreement from the bigger clubs who resisted previous proposals.
The outcome of the clubs’ vote on whether or not to accept HMRC’s latest proposals is awaited.  However, on previous history, it is perhaps unlikely that a consensus view will be achieved.
Whatever the outcome, it is unlikely that clubs will be deterred from image rights.  And with clubs constantly seeking ways of expanding and increasing income streams, it may be that the 'lack of commerciality' that HMRC has used as its main attack on previous image rights arrangements may turn out to be a weapon used against them in future.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your talking out your backside mate. all these 100 percent fact statements. Please stop it

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but you are balls and to the others that are going on about Ibroke being a listed building what would that have to do with renting another ground. It is only the facade that is listed not the full stadium.

Agree0 Disagree0

Complete and utter rubbish, go back to your hole in the ground on the east side.

If Rangers went into admin it would be a prepack. The stadium will be charged to the only secured creditor Craig Whyte. This post is just mischieve making of the worst kind.

Agree0 Disagree0

AS - Your full of s*it as usual yet another dream of yours!!
I am sure you came out with similar crap in August and to the t**t who thinks its only the facade of Ibrox that is listed dont try to sound intelligent it doesnt work. Go check with Historic Scotland it is the facade and the main stand that are Category B listed you muppet
So even considering the worst case scenario and we did go in to admin what use is half a football stadium to anyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

OOOHHHHHH Hark at you. Seem rather touchY. The inside can be altered it is only the outside that can't be altered. As for half a stadium GET YOUR FACTS CORRECT that is a lot of land that can be built on.

Agree0 Disagree0

OK just to verify here is the listing report

Archibald Leitch and Partners, Architects and Engineers, 1928, opened 1.1.29. Tall Renaissance 25-bay red brick facade.
Centrepiece: entrance; ashlar engaged columns and pilasters carry lintel and mutule cornice. Balustrade and 4-light window above set in giant arched panel, divided vertically by plain pilaster strips and horizontally by panels, keystoned. Advanced flanking bays; 1st and 2nd floor windows similarly linked but under pediments. 10 bays to either side with ground floor segmental-headed arcade. Band course. Giant pilasters through 1st and 2nd floors separate windows set in round-headed recesses. Corner pavilions pilastered with bipartite windows at 1st and 2nd linked by panel, under a pediment. Small bipartites on return elevations under mosaic shields with lion rampant inscribed "1872 Ready 1928". E Shield has been altered to "1872 Ready 1981". Mutule main cornice. Central parapet with faience panel "Rangers FC". Parapets over corner pavilions. Multi-paned metal framed windows.
Interior: wood and stained glass doors to vestibule and RFC floor mosaic. 2 Doric columns and 2 pilasters with disc frieze capitals carry landing. Dark wood panelled walls and simple plaster cornices, stair has wrought-iron and wood banister. 1st floor large corniced door to Director's room. Most rooms have wood panelling and some original light fittings. Main stand is 2-tier and steel-framed with a shield facing pitch.

Lots of detail from inside the building there !!

Listing a building does not prevent it changing or developing I agree, but it does mean that consideration has to be given to preserving its particular character as stated on Historic Scotland website.

Any proposal to demolish, or to alter or extend a listed building in a way which would affect its character, must be granted listed building consent before it can proceed and i am sure there will be many objections should it ever happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its meant to be happening very shortly ,will happen when we don't have a home game as the administrators will take all receipts made on day of home game
The name of Rangers cannot be used without the permission of the administrator and the same goes for Ibrox
This is Craig Whtyes chance to wipe the debt in preparation for him to start making a profit

Agree0 Disagree0

You's cheated the taxman now you'll need to pay the price maybe you will keep the dump called ibrox but no murray park and any players worth money sold and players without value let go ibrox will look great with 500 fans week in and week out haha

Rumours filtering we have settled our case with HMRC at a fraction of the proposed 49MILL? Any sources?

Believable47 Unbelievable32

Inreally do hope this is true!!

MainStandBear!

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont see how this can be true as the case only started on monday with a decision expected in about 4 weeks time!

I think someone is having you on

Agree0 Disagree0

Then if this is the case and only 7 million is to be paid back then i will not be paying my tax. As why should i if yous get away with a fraction of what yous stole of the country

Agree0 Disagree0

A decision is expected next wednesday, whoever told you 4 weeks is having you on :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

The bbc and stv news both stated that both sides had 5 days to put their case across and after that a decision would be give at the end of the month.

Thats were i got weeks from

The airport bear .. thiers a couple of eastenders in here toinght ... loving it ... vodafone have just cut a deal with HRMC only yesterday Fact so why not Rangers football .. Court case ends next week then the hopefuly we can cut a deal as it's better we stay afloat than HMRC take 10p in the pound , This will drag on for months lads ... QC Andrew Thornhill Loyal

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL i just love all you Well informed NUMBSKULLS thinking you's will get away with breaking the LAW, you's will have to something maybe not the full amount but at least alot more than the patheic Ł7 million some other CLOWN posted. Lets be honest to you really think THE GREAT WHYTE LIE will dig deep there is more chance of the POPE attending the next game at greyskull

Agree0 Disagree0

More smelts hoping we go in to admin so they can try and claw back points haha

Agree0 Disagree0

All rumours and heresay at this moment in time, there is a lot of Chinese Whispers going on so don't go swallowing anything until it is official people

Agree0 Disagree0

I love more all the NUBSKULLS from the East end who think they are all financial experts when they are clearly CLOWNS themselves. Howdo they know wat the court will say? It was only lat year when vodafone were let off with a Ł6billion tax bill

Agree0 Disagree0

It's all wishful thinking timothy, you are really praying for this, as it is your only real hope of winning the league. I can't wait for the outcome to be in favour of Rangers fc, and the uproar you lot will create, " it's an outcry, a conspiracy 'cause they are a proddy british club, ah'm no payin' ma tax either" ( you need to work first, dole bhoy ).................... Anyway, the futures bright, the futures Whyte. All your dreams will be shattered soon, what a disappointment you lot are in for ! Rangers 'til I die, onwards and upward Bears

Agree0 Disagree0

To the numskull above... timothy, tax evasion is not illegal, nor were EBTs until 2009. I work for HMRC and Vodafone owed Ł8bn and paid Ł1.25m under same circumstances i.e 1/8th of what they owe. you do the maths... {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that Tax Evasion is illegal, but Tax Avoidance is not.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Apologies ed, timothy had me riled, as you say evasion is illegal. however ebts came under tax avoidance until 2009, hency why a negotiated settlement is likely

Agree0 Disagree0

Vodafone actually paid 1.25bn so you's are having a laugh if you's think you's lot are getting away with it h in Lennon we trust

I along with several other rangers supporters were lucky enough to be invited to a rangers function at ibrox last week where we got to briefly chat to craig whyte and sandy jardine. anyway someone mentioned the possibility of adminstration to which craig whyte replyed 'administration is quite possibly plan D' and the tone of his voice suggested to me that they are currently exploring other avenues! so fellow bluenoses lets not bicker over mr whyte and get behind him cause he is trying his best to prevent us entering admin!!

Believable44 Unbelievable28

Great post mate, could all doubters and seltic fans please read this and stop coming on here and spouting rubbish. According to some we were going into admin in September then the first week of October then payday October. Any other date timmy wants to suggest for admin?.

We now have a clear message from our owner that he has repeated a few times.

4inarow

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a septic supporter as you put it, but am delighted for you, as stated Whytes tone means that all your tax problems are now sorted. If you could hear my tone you would realise i am ripping the proverbial out of you

Agree0 Disagree0

Same message he gave to the van guard bears when he got interviewed a few weeks ago. news didnt travel unfortunatley

Agree0 Disagree0

Septic fan,

At no stage did i say our problems were over and we all know the tax case could spell trouble for our club. My point is its all ifs and buts . If we were to listen to all the timmy posts on here we would already be out of business. Go worry about your own club.

4inarow

Agree0 Disagree0

True. It's never positive headlines the papers want, it's negative. Rangers have done nothing wrong, HMRC didn't batter an eyelid in the past 10 years now they think they can back date it after changing offshore payments law 2 or 3 years ago? Don't worry bears. We'll be the one's laughing come 4IAR.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is a joke i am telling you all [ fact ] arsenal were 300 million in debt to the HMRC and ended up paying 10 million out of court fact no mention of administration for them and if rangers do go into adfmin there are 9 top english premiership clubs that will go to to the wall

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats right all this Tax case and talk of Ł49 million outstanding is ALL lies, If this is the case then WHY are you's at court fighting the case ?. If the story about ARSENAL is true witch i Doubt. Why are they chasing you's for a MUCH smaller sum of Ł49 million. I never ONCE heard ARSENAL were at court fighting there case SO stop being so delude, you NUMBSKULL.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just because you didnt hear about arsenals tax case doesnt mean it isnt true you NUMBSKULL

Arsenal used a similar scheme to pay agents and players in tax avoidance and eventually paid back Ł11million.

This was published in the Sunday Times back in 2005 when it happened ;-)

Anyway? what have celtic and hearts got in common? + t ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

The question remains whether Whyte can keep Rangers solvent long enough to divert blame for the disaster that is almost certainly about to befall Rangers.  A post-Big Tax Case fall will be so transparently the work of the previous management and owner that Whyte will not need to comment.  Falling earlier will leave Whyte with a lot of responsibility for Rangers’ problems, and he will not be able to openly throw any mud in the direction of the real culprit: Sir David Murray.

Agree0 Disagree0

All the tims hope it goes pear shaped, well timothy some news, aint goin to happen, 10 million champions leauge money cumen our way. Here we go 4 in a row.

The Lancashire News reports that Neil Lennon is now odds on to be sacked before Christmas. It also quotes Roy Keane as 5-1 favourite to become the new Celtic manager, with Owen Coyle next at 6-1.

Beautiful since it was meant to be McCoist out by Xmas. Mwaha

StevenA

Believable24 Unbelievable27

I hope he stays as he could not run a bath never mind a football club. The longer he stays the longer we will dominate scottish football.

4inarow

Agree0 Disagree0

I like McCoist and hope he does well(just not as well as Celtic) But would love if you could all wind back a few monthe when he was getting slated for the results in Europe. Football is indeed a fickle buisness

The longer Lemon is in charge the better for us, hes a total clown. Plus i mite b jumping the gun but its starting to look like celtic retirement club again - Bolo Zenden on trial lol scrapping the barrel with a 35yr old. TheBigMan

He was not getting slated on here mate. I seem to remember a large amount of septic fans saying 'we are Neil Lennon' towards the end of last season. Seem to be changing their minds lately.
