Friend who works at Aberdeen FC tells me that Rangers are planning to sign Adam Rooney for %500,000. Aberdeen have accepted and player is just deciding whether to accept.

sure they don't mean Mickey Rooney??

Would be better trying to sign Peter Pawlett!

Without even knowing who will be in charge next year? I bet any would be managers will be delighted with things happening without their consent.

More chance of Wayne Rooney signing for Rangers, Can,t see Aibardeen selling any of their shepherds to Rangers

Rooney would be an excellent signing. But there is no chance Aberdeen will be selling to Rangers

He would be a good striker for the championship and SPFL, however I doubt he could be our "star" striker, bit like how Jelavic was our best and we had Lafferty to support him. Would love to see Will Grigg (MK Dons) lead the attack in the future

Delusion at its very best. He is contracted till 2018! Aberdeen won't sell their top scorer for 500k when they are building for next year.
D72 are you taking the? whatever your drinkng/smoking time for a detox. 'Star' striker - what planet are you on. Where will any rangers striker be a star if at all if it isn't in the championship or splf?. if you mean europe then closest any rangers player is getting to playing decent foreign opposition is a pre season friendly.
any of you in the know realise you are at least 30m in the hole with debt and repairs with a dozen players out of contract before a ball is even kicked. D72 The days of a 4m striker are a micro dot on the horizon at best.

Could Rangers afford Rooney at this stage?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Why on earth would anyone pay £500k for him as well, a figure of £150k would take him back down south no problem)

07 Jun 2015 20:31:11
I agree Ed. I think the lad is very average and the sheep are welcome to him. I wouldn't like to rely on the likes of him to get us out of the championdhip

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed039's Note - Exactly, fair play the boy scored goals, but John Sutton and Steven Thompson have scored goals in the Prem in recent years and they are both rotten)

It looks as if the Rangers strike force for next season is a bit thin on the ground and the manager will have to recruit a couple of strikers from somewhere .

Aberdeen don't need to sell so why would they? If they sold Adam Rooney I am pretty sure mcinnes wouldn't stay for much longer as he wants to challenge Celtic.

no danger the sheep will sell to us and it does not really matter who are strikers are when we have such a dire lack of creativity in midfield and no spark from the wings. Time to build a future round youngsters like wee Andy Murdoch.

So we're in for players with no manager in place? Pish!

Mark Wotte to be installed as Director of Football with Ian Cathro as Head Coach. New and long term plan for youth development, Dave King wanting to get the best use out of Murray Park. About time too.

Dont think cathro would work with wotte as wotte criticised him when he left the scotland performance school set up to go to portugal

i had been hoping for warburton and weir but cathro is just as good for me I think all us fans need to realise we need a fresh start a freesh face and someone who is going to invest in the youth and restructure the whole ethos of the club

This is something I would like to see, we need a fresh new change away from x players and managers doing things like they did in bygone days of yore! times are a changing and we need.to become attractive to players, investors, and fans with people who are not just Rangers minded by football minded driving us on.

Cathro would b a great signing and truly utilise Murray park to develop young talent

07 Jun 2015 00:49:21
I don't think Cathro deserves the job. Unproven on his own. We cannot afford to get this appointment wrong. McCall should be given a chance and maybe get Cathro in as his right hand man. Remember it was not McCalls team. Bar this season he done a grand job at Motherwell with penuts to spend. Even if we did go up we are not ready to compete with half the teams. Another season in the lower leagues to sort out this mess and get a structure and plan in place might be a blessing in disguise.

It may be quite a few seasons before McCall has as much to spend as he had at Motherwell

Marc Wortte would seem to be an unlikely choice for Director of Football as Dave King indicated that he didn't know anything about him .

Ian Cathro reportedly been speaking to club official's re the manager's job. Any thoughts?

Hope this turns out to be true with Mark Wotte as football director, both extremely strong characters who will not be overawed by the enormity of the job to be done, no more of the old brigade coming back to haunt the Ibrox corridors with their clapped out ideas of how to play modern football

Better stay with those who know and love the club, especially in these difficult financial times . When Rangers could spend money freely they went down the road of an outsider and it didn't work out .

chris the players refused to go with a manager who would make them athletes. rangers has been a holiday camp for years. it's a disgrace.
