Ali Crawford now retweets a message about coming home to the blueside of Glasgow. I was confident a few weeks ago when I posted that he was coming. Now feel like its pretty much a certainty. He can be the spark we need. A decent cb, cdm and striker would be ideal.

04 Jan 2017 20:45:00
I hope you're wrong mate. Don't get me wrong he's a decent wee player but don't think he's much better than what we have, he'd just end up a squad player. We need players that are going to noticeably make a difference to our starting 11.

04 Jan 2017 21:05:55
i'd take ally crawford before any youngster on a 6mth loan deal if were honest our midfield this season has been pretty much our original 4th 5th 6th choice midfielders adding quality to midfield will hopefully take pressure off our defence as far to many times this season halliday n co lose posession in very silly areas.

04 Jan 2017 21:36:53
I think Crawford is better at Accies than Naisy was at Killie. He has been carrying Accies on his back for a couple years now and is capable of changing games single handedly, something we really lack.

04 Jan 2017 21:37:10
Crawford is young and has the potential to develop. I would be delighted to see him at Rangers alongside Jota and the young Arsenal lad. We need to up the quality of player we have at the club right now.

Players like Halliday were ok in the Championship but are out of their depth in the Premier League.

04 Jan 2017 23:46:21
I don't know y Crawford is getting suchome a hard time, the fact is if he goes south to the championship he will move on to a bigger club for a substantial fee! He's a real good young scottish player and better than the majority we have at our disposal (windass and rossiter excluded) so I hope this happens 10%.

04 Jan 2017 23:46:35
100% even.

05 Jan 2017 00:40:13
I've said it many times, if we have a modicum of ambition, players like Crawford (and I watch Accies regularly) would never get near a Rangers jersey. He's just not good enough, end of.

05 Jan 2017 09:43:15
Lansbury is the guy we should be pulling out all the stops to sign but it now looks like Celtic are favourites to sign him. With King in charge we will fall further and further behind them. The guy either has no money or no ambition for the club.
Add to this his appalling attempts to negate the Sports Direct contracts when a friendly renegotiation for the benefit of both parties would have been more beneficial.
Where is all the transparency and where is all the King funding that was promised. So far the Three Bears and the Far East guys appear to be the only ones parting with cash.

05 Jan 2017 11:21:56
How can you say appalling attempts to renegotiate with Sports Direct. Friendly negotiation is just not in Ashley's mindset, the guy is a ruthless business individual who has the contracts LEGALLY watertight in his favour, thanks to the dross who were in charge of our club before the present board, I'm sorry to say we will not be rid of Sports Direct for another 6 years or until Ashley decides to get out, but it is not about money for him, he is screwing us into the ground simply because he can.

05 Jan 2017 13:19:35
I posted that Ali Crawford will sign for rangers but it's looking likely it will either be burton or charlton.

05 Jan 2017 14:14:00
Burton Albion is about his level. Nowhere near good enough for us.

05 Jan 2017 15:51:14
How can you be so against Ali Crawford? I don't understand. Were you against Naisy when he came from Killie? That Hamilton team wouldn't even be in the top 4 in the championship yet he has single-handedly kept them up. He is a fantastic player, much better than we have.

05 Jan 2017 20:26:42
He's not even close to what naismith was like at killie in my opinion Crawfords a decent player if we want to stay as we are but if we want to kick on and improve we must aim higher.

05 Jan 2017 21:20:14
I am not 'against' anybody, what an absurd suggestion. Naismith was miles better then than Crawford is now. The lad's an average player who will find his level in England's second or third tier. Have you actually seen him or Accies? Imagine suggesting that Crawford single handedly kept them up! Lolol!

05 jan 2017 22:06:52
colshygers, are you for real? jon toral is miles in front of ali crawford with ease mate! i quite like crawford but he's not in the same league as toral! honestly i don't know what some of you guys see! anyone with half a football brain, knows toral by a distance is better than crawford!

04 Jan 2017 19:48:31
My companies HQ is about a mile from Elland Road one of my English mates who just got back to work today and follows Leeds has told me, Leeds are looking at a bid of £1.5 to £2.5 million for Barry MaKay with possible add on, they were really impressed with him on Saturday!

04 Jan 2017 20:46:38
I think rangers would want a lot more than that.

04 Jan 2017 21:03:18
Stewartyg65
I agree mate and I for one don't want him to go, why sell your best players but I'm just passing on what he was told by someone inside Leeds, these things also depend on what the player wants and we know they have been scouting him for a wee while, ide build a team around him personally!

04 Jan 2017 21:39:46
He is worth a lot more than £2.5m but given that there is unlikely to be much if any investment forthcoming from King I wouldn't be too surprised if we sell him. We should be looking to sell others well ahead of McKay but we also have to remember that he has yet to sign a new contract.

04 Jan 2017 23:20:34
We would get more than that if he was out of contract, through a tribunal for his development.

The board should quit if the accept under £6m.
Players with Barry's pace don't come cheaply. Especially on a long term contract.
If he does get sold, it will blatantly show lack of ambition from the board.

It's players like Barry is our future. He's been doing well recently. And is only going to get better.

05 Jan 2017 00:18:27
Don't know how much we would get for McKay's development. He came through killie ranks and we signed him in 2011. Good prospect though. One we should be trying to keep.

05 Jan 2017 00:43:29
He doesn't have great pace. He doesn't have much of an end product. He doesn't have much of a delivery. He's worth £3m at the very most and I would bite anybody's hand off for that. It's not lack of ambition to cash in on a player who cost us nothing and who can easily be replaced for nothing.

05 Jan 2017 09:45:30
Glasgow is Blue Perhaps a lack of ambition by one particular member of the Board, King!

05 Jan 2017 16:00:03
Can i just add that his name is Barrie and not Barry.

05 Jan 2017 20:31:14
Wee-ecky I agree wae u about 3 million just now but only because he's pretty untested, got to disagree when u say he doesn't have great pace the boys rapid do u not see him at games he goes past folk like they're not moving.

05 Jan 2017 20:56:26
Wee ecky. Take it the Swedish international lustig is slow given he couldn't get near mckay at any time in the match? Can throw in celtic's three midfielders too since they couldn't catch him either when he ran 70 yards with the ball and they were sprinting flat out without it. he's got pace, and plenty of it. Honestly, some of the drivel on here about the lad boils my urine. He's ten assists already for the season in a team that clearly doesn't score enough goals. Wallace is next with 7 and for 6 of those barrie played Wallace in to cut it back for the goals. No end product? Are you actually being serious or just blinded to his attributes because he doesn't thunder into a tackle etc? As for delivery, at the risk of repeating myself ad infinatum, he isn't there to cross it into the box (even when we actually have anyone in the box which is rare), he's there to play through balls, retain possession or cut inside the full back and play Wallace in down the line. He's our best outfield player by a country mile. You're entitled to your opinion obviously but you've picked three attributes that you can't back up with evidence whatsoever. Try supporting the kid.

05 Jan 2017 21:28:50
When the "kid" (he's 22) first came into the team, nobody was more vociferous in his defence than me. I've been around Ibrox long enough to know that local lads are often made scapegoats by the fans and I thought I saw something in this boy. But that was in the third division, and while he has made some progress from then (no thanks to McCoist) there are many limitations to his game. That's why he's not been snapped up already, he's playing at his level and as we hopefully improve he will be left behind. However, I'll bow to your superior tactical nous, spart7, you clearly have the ear of the manager when he's telling players what he wants from them.

05 Jan 2017 22:45:56
I'm actually a certified sfa coach ecky so I do know a little bit about tactics etc, but it's pretty obvious to me and tbh wouldn't take much 'nous' to work out even if I wasn't. He's a right footed player playing (mostly) on the left wing. He's been chosen by his manager to play there instead of on the right where even I would expect him to whip balls in from if that was his position. If and when he does get to the left by-line he cuts back onto his right anyway and looks for a pass on the deck. He's not as 1 footed as waggy for example but he's not just going to swing at it with his left peg either, nor should he. Both full backs have licence to get forward at every opportunity and, to generate space for Wallace, mackay takes the full back inside then slides the ball through (that's the theory anyway and will be a managerial instruction) . However, our game plan is obvious to most teams we've faced and he's normally doubled up on (celtic had three on him a few times if you watch the game back) which affects both Wallace's runs (I know he wasn't playing but is the normal pairing) and limits mackay's forward options. Warburton has mentioned many times we have a focus on ball retention so at the start of the season he played square or backwards passes in that instance in order to follow his managers instruction and keep the ball. The 'get it up the park and play the second ball' fans amongst our support then gave him pelters for it. He lost his confidence and became far less effective. He's clearly learnt from that (remember it's only his first full season in the top league) and now instead of square passes he's taking on the two markers or pinging diagonal passes (BTW there isn't a better or more accurate passer in the league imho) to the right wing more often than not and has become far more effective again. He is the only player we have I'd be confident wouldn't be 'left behind' when better players eventually arrive. Krankjaer highlighted his potential when he was interviewed after his second day of training and I think he'd know a lot more about his ability than you or I. He's got an unbelievable first touch, great range of passing and the vision to go with it, excellent close control and blistering pace. He would absolutely thrive in a better team, not vanish within it. He's exactly the type of player I pay my money to see. We can agree to disagree though, one man's aguero can be another man's sebo etc. :-)

06 Jan 2017 14:19:18
Waggy's right leg is a dead stump! Even for the goal against Inverness he had to cut the ball back with the outside of his left foot - embarrassing for a pro footballer

06 Jan 2017 22:05:34
Spart7, that is probably one of the most enjoyable posts I have read on this site and I agree that he is the only 'fit' quality player that would thrive with better players around him. Unfortunately I fear that McKay will move on to bigger and better things before we have that level of quality that you refer to since we clearly have neither the funding, or as far as some of the current Board are concerned, the parent ambition to take the club back to where we belong!

04 Jan 2017 18:28:13
On game on nye a certain invester that wanted to buy the club but got turned back 3 times, now King and co have made contact with him for investment for the summer is Robert sarvar the Phoenix Suns owner . Bottom line is he wants full control. This could be a major deal if this was to happen, investment from America right away . This is from a shareholder who has admitted there are funds there but not funds to compete with Celtic.

04 Jan 2017 18:48:01
A wee Google search led me to this 2016 article:

"Phoenix Suns Franchise, Owner Robert Sarver Voted Worst in NBA.

ESPN’s Annual Ultimate Standings rank all 122 major North American sports franchises on a variety of standards. The Phoenix Suns finished last in the NBA, and 120th overall.

The rankings rip on the Phoenix Suns for everything – their best ranking is 98th overall in affordability. 98th out of 122 is only good compared to 120th.

Is this fair? I am obviously biased towards the Phoenix Suns, but these rankings seem overly harsh. Here are the categories, and the Suns rank (out of 122). "

04 Jan 2017 19:11:05
I looked into this serval times an thought ok he has went for us a few times then levante then real Mallorca, now this is the bit that turns me he put up his investment deal, how fast it would take to get this deal done, will the funds of wealth be for players and maintenance ect, I did find that out and it was a investment of 35 million for playing staff, debt free, no loans ect . His main objective is instant success with rewards ASAP. Only people blocking this is Dave King with his lies. Not Ashley who we know is a wasp annoying us . Take note bears because these Watford or Brentford players won't make us top dog again.

04 Jan 2017 19:55:12
Do you think the deal will go thur as u know the shareholder.

04 Jan 2017 20:11:48
Yes as the blue knights as we call them were a rescue plan to sell the club to the right man as the funds aren't there, blue Knights aren't our glory days returning, we all know that but one thing for sure is when the game on Saturday kicked off there were Robert sarvar watching it with his representatives . The investment is available for summer transfer window.

04 Jan 2017 20:28:36
Why is this conversation happening? He bought mallorca about a year ago and hasn't shown any signs of selling up so quick.

04 Jan 2017 20:44:10
No he bought it with a consortium of nba owners who also own Vancouver whitecaps football team also . If your contacts are that good put this question on to them a say why has Robert sarvars buds been thrown out, and the investment is there ready to go . Instant investment not loans we need to pay back investment, and I know there was a winter competion and pre season fixtures on table with Mls clubs.

04 Jan 2017 20:50:21
because its a wind up, he gotcha.

04 Jan 2017 20:58:35
King wants investors but doesn't want new owners bottom line, and the fact is there is a split in the boardroom over investment with 2 buyers who have the investors there, Brian Kennedy has been approached same thing with him also but souness slagging of King lately won't work, so we are down to the red bull investment or Robert sarvar with his instant plough of money . And words of David Robertson is Rangers will be big time players with in a summer.

04 Jan 2017 22:33:23
East mains how soon could this deal be announced.

04 Jan 2017 22:35:29
If only.

04 Jan 2017 22:10:21
Eastmains16, robert sarver now owns a spanish club mate! Say no more!

04 Jan 2017 23:08:42
I think if all checks are made, and all party's are happy including shareholders then April, there's a instance with Leeds United how keep changing owners and again they have sold majority of shares to a man who's in it for the money. Sarvar wants rangers to be a franchise over in America big time, and yes it will make him money Aswel in states but will make us money from states also to have available funds, i know one thing alistair Johnstone has been involved, pretty sure he has shares in Rangers Aswel again. As I said and this will be my last post on issue. We need the right men for the job on the field and that means we need the right men for immediate danger cash injection . . And one more thing was talking to micheal mols and he said frank de boer is holding out for Rangers job.

04 Jan 2017 23:13:44
Gon455 read all my posts he's leading a consortium not outright owner . Let me make it simple the offer has been put down.

04 Jan 2017 23:42:14
Aye and arthur numams going to fill in at lb till wallace back and imran ahmad as head of communications too.

05 Jan 2017 09:49:13
I fear that King would want to make a killing on his shares. So far there is little to suggest that he is likely to spend any of the promised $30m on players and the cynic in me says he only secured ownership to recoup some of his lost £20m from the Murray era.

05 Jan 2017 20:31:00
After the last 5 years letting Robert Sarver anywhere near our club could be a disaster!

04 Jan 2017 11:12:47
Rangers very interested in signing falkirk's 17 year old left back tony gallacher. Man utd have also been keeping tabs on him. Rangers view gallacher as the longterm successor to lee wallace! My falkirk mate tells me he's a really good, young left full back! He also tells me that tony gallacher is quite similar in style to celtic left back kieran tierney! That would do for me!

04 Jan 2017 11:26:55
As a man with many a Falkirk contacts myself after reading this yesterday a few mates all had glowing reports about the lad. Scotland u-19 international and in the first team bairns squad. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

04 Jan 2017 15:59:27
Don't we have any 17 year old quality full backs at the academy? If not then there is something seriously wrong with the running of the academy.

04 Jan 2017 16:53:39
Fd

That's a shocking statement. That's like saying every 17 year old in our youth department should be a certain first team player and it's silly for us to be looking at other young talent in the country.
I can't see how us keeping tabs on players that Man UTD have also watched can possibly be a negative.

04 Jan 2017 17:02:58
I might be wrong fd but I think myles beerman is left back at our academy and is highly rated.

04 Jan 2017 18:10:36
Not the best reply Fd

Other clubs are allowed to produce promising youngsters!

04 Jan 2017 19:18:04
I agree not the best post, but surely our own academy should be recruiting and creating a more effective output.

05 Jan 2017 05:56:02
Hey Nic- Myles is a RB that we signed from Man City. Looking on TransferMarkt the U20's do not actually have an out and out LB.

05 Jan 2017 09:50:56
I agree Fd but there will be young lads out there that are possibly better or showing more potential than our biys. Surely then it's up th Rangers to bring in the best talent there us.

05 Jan 2017 14:19:55
One flaw in your 'logic'. They've got to want to be here.

04 Jan 2017 07:25:24
John toral from arsenal is apparently top target now? Other than to keep relations going with arsenal why bother? we will get second comfortably enough so why bring in a youngster on loan when we have guys of our own we could be developing.

04 Jan 2017 09:30:39
Unfortunately it doesn't look likely. We have had discussions but we are reluctant to pay the 50% of wage we would need to pay (he is currently on 30k - 15k has been deemed too much) .
Some may remember I wrote last week about a prem team player on loan in Spain but talks had broken down.
This was your man.

04 Jan 2017 10:47:16
he is not on 30k a week he is from what I am led to belive is the same as Gedion Zelalem which was 10-15k a week so we could manage it as bartons wages have gone.

04 Jan 2017 11:06:17
As long as he is a player that improves the current side then I am all for it! Find it strange that Hardie was allowed out on loan considering our severe lack of centre forwards, would like to see a defensive midfielder in to take hallidays place, I think that would really shore up our defence and another striker who is a proven goal scorer.

04 Jan 2017 11:07:59
Jon toral is a very good attacking midfielder and better than any player in that position currently at ibrox! So that's why bother, nic-861!

04 Jan 2017 11:13:32
Would like to see Burt and the boy Thompson promoted to first team squad in second half of season.

04 Jan 2017 11:44:29
Ibrox Loyal, I got this info 2nd hand but came from MW himself.
Don't get me wrong I'm not saying we can't afford him but I assume we are trying to keep Barton money for other people.
MW was just saying 15k is too much for us to fork out on him particularly.

04 Jan 2017 12:34:01
6mth loan for a guy who no doubt warbs will no doubt say nds time to get used to the pace of scottish football by the time that happens his loan deal will be done don't see the logic in this one.

04 Jan 2017 17:08:16
So were going to spend a few grand a week on wages we don't have supercooper just to give someone elses youngsters game time when young burt or crooks could come in? If we had anychance of this guy long term I would be all for it but we don't so I say again why?

04 Jan 2017 17:08:16
So were going to spend a few grand a week on wages we don't have supercooper just to give someone elses youngsters game time when young burt or crooks could come in? If we had anychance of this guy long term I would be all for it but we don't so I say again why?

04 Jan 2017 17:49:39
The difference is Nic that this guy by the sounds of it could come in and make a positive impact straight away, Crooks hasn't kicked his own @rse since he joined us and clearly the management don't think Burt can IMPROVE the first team quite yet.

04 Jan 2017 18:19:23
Joey Bartons contract is being Honoured in full! His agent saw to it!

04 Jan 2017 19:19:31
I get the fact he might be a decent player rutherglenbear but any penny that leaves our coffers must be investment in OUR squad we don't have time or money to spend on guys coming in who won't be there next summer! And as far as crooks goes he isn't playing as he needs games to get match sharp so again get him involved and hopefully if he is a player then he's fully tuned up for next season ie ready to make a fist of it domestically and europa lge.

04 Jan 2017 21:06:29
Don't believe for a minute Barton's contract being paid in full as he has signed by Burnley you can't get paid to wages.

04 Jan 2017 21:19:05
Of course you can happens all the time.

04 Jan 2017 22:46:26
Rangers would have ended up in employment court, charged with constructive dismissal, which it was! Bartons agent told them their case was water tight, it was! Bartons next Ibrox wage payout is due at the end of January.

04 Jan 2017 21:44:11
Another lost soul from Warburton past. Getting sick of us going after players that have flopped elsewhere- and this guy has been a flop at Granada (hardly Barcelona or even espanyol) .

If this is his idea on how to improve our side, and surely even deluded fans must admit it desperately needs improvement, then get Warburton out and a manager with a clue in.

How can we possibly close the gap on Celtic with signings like this- we can't.

We need to show imagination and ambition- there are good players out there available for little money, but if you are obsessed with players from your past you won't find them.

05 Jan 2017 09:52:53
Luigi, this is the best we can hope for while King is in charge. The questions are already being asked whether the three Bears and the Two Far East Investors are now getting tired of funding the Club while King does nothing but mouth it off. We need to see serious investment in quality players if we are to be anything other than a team fighting annually for the minor places!

06 Jan 2017 14:01:21
Nic_861,its very worthwhile bringing in a player in the ilk of jon toral mate! Remember its originally for a 6 month loan deal but he's out of contract at the arsenal in the summer! Who's to say we might have a chance of getting jon toral permanently! That would enhance our starting 11 and bring value to our club! This guy is only still 21 years old has had a fantastic grounding! If we do sign him permanently, he will make us good money in the transfer market a few years down the line! So it potentially could be value to rangers!
