Mark Warburton has identified two different central midfield targets with it looking increasingly likely both Law and Shiels will depart. Personally i am disappointed with Law leaving as he adds energy and drive to our midfield. Firstly, Tom Carroll from Spurs who is out of contract in the summer. If he does in fact sign a new deal before the end of the year Warburton would like to take him on loan. Secondly, Mikel Arteta who is also out of contract this summer. Arteta would love the chance to return to Rangers to see out his career and a 1 year deal with a further years option likely to be offered. This combined with the likely emergence of Jordan Thomson next season would give us a good group of central midfielders. Although an out and out defensive midfielder would still be needed.

Crooks is a defensive mid.

Do u really think arteta is going to drop from 60+grand a week to probably well under the 10 grand we would be offering get real.

Do you really think that Arteta will be able to find another contract anywhere near that money when he's been injured or bench warming for the past two years? Get real.

No chance of him coming to rangers if he does I'd be amazed. Plus why would we want him there's better options out there.

Absolute nonsense, arteta earns a fortune on England, tho if ure rite then I will obviously apologise profusely, I would love to see Mikel back at ibrox, where he began his British career, but he will have offers from all over Europe as player or coach, but if your right mate then I apologise and look forward to it.

Am I wrong in saying that he couldn't wait to leave us when he was here before? I seem to remember he went back to Spain for NO football for a while.

Pretty sure i read that he has an offer to go back to soceidad in a player/ coach role?

and tbh i'm not sure he fits warburtons type plan for recruitment.30 odd and continually injured.
would love to see how his legs hold out on the synthetic playing surface.

Why is this not headlines in The Record/ Sun/ Herald/ Scotsman/ Evening Times and Dalkeith Advertiser? A return for Arteta would be a big story.

Last I heard about him was that he was being prepped for a coaching role with Pep Guardiola at Man City.

Looking forward to summer transfer activity. l'm in the cautious camp and think we are some way away from where we need to be to challenge for SPL. Tomorrow will be interesting as a gauge of progress but won't get too hung up about the result either way. I'm old enough to remember Dundee beating Rangers twice at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup - 2-3 and 0-1 as I recall and I think a certain John Brown put us tithe sword on both occasions. I didn't halt our long term progress.

The progress under the current regime has been exceptional however.

Would take Arteta back in a second. Like Miller what a role model for the talent coming through Ibrox at the moment. Can't wait t see the starting 11 for the SPFL next year, going to be some talented boys left on the bench if some better players come in, all good tho!

Brown scored a hat trick against Rangers bear, at the time he was the only left back to do so without the use of a penalty, I know, as I'm related to him
Tommy.

One other point bear, Graeme Souness had a torrid time against bomber, and was suitably impressed to go after his signature, being a dyed in the wool bluenose bomber didn't think twice, Graeme knew this was the type of man he needed to bolster his revolution of the Gers, Bomber didn't stand back in his battle with Souness and a legend was born
Tommy.
