Here is a thought bears,

9 times out of 10 a manager brings a number 2 with him.

If we get a manager at end of season and he brings the number 2, what happens to jimmy nic?

Can't imagine jimmy will come just to get booted in June.
So, is murts being told he is going to be long term even though WE are told until end of season, or is the Irish gaffer lined up hence him not talking to scotland? Jimmy nic would already be in place and possibly involved in transfer business.

31 Dec 2017 22:30:23
I reckon if it was oneil he would be in place already but the last thing you can do with this board is second guess them

01 Jan 2018 10:03:17
I reckon he’s taking a chance that murty can get the gig longer term. Is he still the Northern Ireland assistant? He would still have a job then

01 Jan 2017 12:11:29
Jimmy nicholl is right out of the blue.

Out of every person to choose from its jimmy nicholl. Definitely something weird about that one IMO.

Has Murty worked with him before?

01 Jan 2018 12:35:27
How is it weird, the guy played for us over two spells, been on our coaching staff before he has plenty of experience so all I can see is a good move

01 Jan 2018 12:48:12
Jimmy was doing the after dinner speaking when I was at the hospitality for the Aberdeen game last year.
So I'd say he clearly still had ties to the club and was a straight forward and easy process to get him in as a coach and that's why we appointed him.

01 Jan 2018 13:55:30
Ther would be comp for a club to sign the irland manager that's why gers won't just now

01 Jan 2018 14:38:20
He wouldn't still have a job if murty and him gets the boot in June as for the coaching staff of international teams like Northern Ireland Scotland exc are volunteers they do not get paid as they already have paid jobs with there clubs same as the players the only one to get paid are the managers as there higher don a full time basis. And jimmy n is only at Northern Ireland because of O'Neil the new manager there will bring his own staff with him.

01 Jan 2018 20:28:11
Jimmy nicholl was recommended by Walter Smith, hardly a strange appointment. Also Jimmy still is Northern Ireland assistant so still has a job. Also I imagine rangers are paying him much more in 6 months than he would get at Falkirk.

02 Jan 2018 11:49:23
Deanobear, utter nonsense. Assistants and coaches with international teams may be part time yes but not volunteers with no pay.

31 Dec 2017 14:11:46
I've said before that candeias work rate is immense and he takes a lot of flak for nothing. Yesterday again his work rate again was amazing. I've heard Murphy is on his way and McLean is pretty much a certainty to sign a pre contract. News of those two would be a great start to the window.

31 Dec 2017 15:52:48
2 very good players and would bring a lot to the team. Both very good on the ball. We can only hope that rumour is true.

31 Dec 2017 17:04:58
why mclean he is a donkey, murphy good little player

31 Dec 2017 17:24:08
I’m not convinced at all about McLean. Really don’t see what the fuss is about. Average player who has never really done much against us or them

31 Dec 2017 19:11:45
Totally agree about MacLean. Decent SPL player, nothing more

31 Dec 2017 19:31:46
McLean might not be a wprld-beater but he'd be a good player in the squad. (think he's better than holt)

31 Dec 2017 20:08:54
Agree McLean is better than a lot of the options we have in that position. Always thought he was better than Jack. I think he would def add something to or squad

31 Dec 2017 22:33:15
We need to add some height and weight to the midfield, yesterday aside we're far too lightweight and soft in the tackle.

01 Jan 2018 00:26:46
Just like Dc1990 says, daniel candeias gets a lot of not called for stick, in my eyes also! His display again celtic on the 30th of december there, was imo exceptional! His workrate for a winger is absolutely superb! I think candeias is a terrific winger who has the lot in his locker, and the 1 thing that a lot of wingers don't have, workrate! His deliveries into the opposition box are terrific and he's not afraid to take his man on with pure speed, skill and trickery! All we need is a good left winger, queue jamie murphy! We definitely have a good right winger in daniel candeias, who already has plenty of assists to his name and a couple of goals also! Tav and candeias have a terrific partnership on our right hand side!

01 Jan 2018 01:56:38
Candeias was man of the match considering control positional sense work rate and attacking qualities.

01 Jan 2018 10:02:01
Tavernier was man of the match and should be played right midfield rather than right back

01 Jan 2018 10:16:05
Bates was MOTM and rightly so

01 Jan 2018 11:25:55
The fact we had so many plausible contenders for Man of the Match speakers volumes for our overall Team performance. How times are changing, Warbs struggles against Hibs, Hearts, Aberdeen and Celtic especially away from home with Murty showing how to get results there even wee Brenda has struggled against Hibs, Hearts and Rangers recently.

01 Jan 2017 12:08:36
same as you Stewie, McLean is much of a muchness. don't think he adds much to us at all

01 Jan 2017 12:18:33
I agree Candeias had a great game against the bin dippers, but he has the same issue a lot of wingers have and that is consistancy. I feel the at home the expectations of the crowd can put him off. Always looks a better player when we play away from home and play a counter attacking style. He, like so many others need to find a way to perform every week and especially at Ibrox

01 Jan 2018 14:20:11
We moan about not having a good bench but say players like Maclean aren't good enough. He might not start every week for us if he comes but as a free transfer he's definitely a player who could come off the bench and do something, plus he would provide competition for players who are in the first 11 a lot. We need a bit more strength in depth and he's certainly a good start imo

01 Jan 2018 22:31:16
I like Candeias it's just that penalty against Kilmarnock was so frustrating

31 Dec 2017 06:58:24
I'm told that at a meeting at Ibrox this evening, Murty and Mark Allen discussed a possible purge of at least six players to free up wages, so look for some big earners getting shipped out. And there have been no calls from Mexico! Currently there are funds to finance the purchase of two targets without selling anyone.

31 Dec 2017 10:49:32
First thing that should be done is phone up Alves agent and tell him to get him a new team (never rangers class)
Cardoso should be sold if buyer wants him.
Lee Hodson should be released
I won’t go through them all but on watching the Motherwell game we don’t have good width plus our defence needs strengthened and a hard msn to get right into broody I hate his smug face!

31 Dec 2017 11:40:38
yea am sure DK called you to tell you all this don't suppose you had dinner wea him as well na doubt it we don't have any money to buy new players nobody will buy the crap we have we played against a celtic team that didn't turn up in 2nd half can't believe fellow bears are happy to finish 2nd there pulling in nearly 8million on van Dyke still getting money in europe and prob sell dembele for 20million 11pts behind its only going get worse unless we get money DK been there nearly 3 years and not any further forward that's the realty not a point yesterday

31 Dec 2017 14:16:34
Wow! We see some fairly negative stuff on here regularly but given what day it is, that one takes the cake for me. No matter how much they make on Virgil, Dembele etc. They cannot convince the top players to come to the backwater of Scottish football. Hope your in a better mood come the bells! Happy New Year Bhoys and Bears!

Keep Believing!

31 Dec 2017 19:36:07
Couldn't care less what Celtic are getting for dyke or dembele. Rangers outplayed Celtic in the second half, end of. Plenty thought we'd get humped, we didn't. 2-3 quality players plus our injured players back. There's a decent side there. Happy new year

31 Dec 2017 22:34:44
Happy New Year bhoys? Na not for me.

31 Dec 2017 23:50:50
Ffs, if you canny take positives from that then you're not a gers fan

01 Jan 2018 11:58:03
Cheer up big blue bear. To be fair dave king did say a 5 year process or something like that. Fellow bears happy to finish second this year because they are being realistic not in fantasy land. Right now we need to strengthen and gel to start next season strong. don't worry about celtic’s business just focus on ours.

01 Jan 2018 12:00:56
Shocking statements on here about Alves and suggestions he bottled it. Although he may have underestimated intensity of Scottish game, he clearly loves the responsibility and at his age is picking up injures. Don’t think he will be with us Long but let’s treat him with respect.

01 Jan 2018 12:10:33
big blue bear, I'm sorry you are such a hateful, angry person, but who mentioned DK? Who mentioned dinner? Who mentioned Celtic? Are you sure you're commenting on the right thread? Never mind, calm down and have as good a new year as someone in your condition can have.

31 Dec 2017 00:43:07
We are one of the favourites to land Marcus McGuane on loan from Arsenal, DOF Mark Allen to have further talks with them this coming week. Man unt were keen on him back in August and he has played for Arsenal in Europe, looks like he has a bright future and has been tagged Wonderkid, AW wants him to get some first team football and looks like we may get him.

01 Jan 2018 11:26:49
What position does he play in? Is he a centre mid?

01 Jan 2018 11:41:40
Hopefully not another zelalem

01 Jan 2018 13:59:08
centre mid, meant to be a tough tackler. never heard of him personally but apparently napoli are sniffing about him too! could be interesting
