There's strong rumours coming from the north east of England that Newcastle United owner mike ashley is ready to sell up at newcastle and buy rangers, what do you reckon my fellow gers fans, would you welcome ashley and his dough and would it be a good thing for us and our future?BIG RAM!

Magic, a proper businessman
no underhand dealings there, what you see is what you get

Yes I think it would be a very good thing for us

I read that in the express this morning too. If he was willing to splash the cash I guess I'd be reasonably happy, so long as there were no 7 year deals for management and he kept Joe Kinear well away! The Newcastle fans don't like him but as an outsider looking in I think he has done a decent job. They are weary of him as he has done no press interviews. But he has invested something like £200m in there, I'd like that kind of investment!

I think it would be great to have some money behind us but can't see Ashley selling Newcastle for us. The money that teams get from Sky would make it a non starter. Granted Rangers are a bigger club globally but don't think that would add up to more than the Sky money. I might be wrong but to me doesn't make good business sense

He is not a bad lad and him coming is a million miles from whyte esq et al.

These rumours seem to be building huge momentum down south. no smoke without fire i'm sure the story has substance but to be fair this deal couldn't happen till at least next year

I would welcome ashley the newcastle fans are still on his back even after all his investment don't see how he can achieve any more than the 2011/12 season with newcastle he more likely to get to champions league with gers but i'd prefer ibrox not to be renamed sportsd and hope if he come he says mccoist job is safe until nxt year not sallys biggest fan but we've got to stick 4 now

Is he selling Newcastle then? I think that would be splashed all over the papers if they were for sale, after all it's against the rules to own 2 different teams. ffs lads stop reading garbage papers and use a bit of brain power before posting. And I think you'll find that Ashley isn't hated for being an outsider, he is hated for not reinvesting in the club and giving all his gambling buddies jobs, Pardew is on that contract because the majority of his wages goto ashley and llambias to help pay off his gambling debts to them.

Sky money in EPL or pittance Scottish clubs receive, if he's a good business man then the chances are zilch.

No smoke without fire? Never burnt toast or heard of a smoke machine?

If this is true, then approach with a bit og caution, remember what we were all like when cr*ig whyte came in and promised us the world with so called millions and then look what happened to us

Like to see it happening but doubt it very much, as the guy said above, Sky money verses the pittance that Scottish clubs receive would probably stop it in it's tracks, but would be nice.

Smoke machine is actually dry ice

We could do a lot worse than Ashley.

He could even maybe put the likes of Ian Black on one of his SPorts Direct zero hours contracts.

Can't you own more than one team? What about romanov?

Yes, it's dry ice but is still called a smoke machine. It was a wee joke but if you want to be like that, dry ice isn't actually ice - it's frozen carbon dioxide lol

Its more a strong smell s****.

I would love to see Ashley come in for Rangers, he would only do this to get us back into the champions league, something Newcastle will never be able to deliver.

Great I am a. newcastle and a Rangers fan, he is not great for Newcastle but he would be great for Rangers with money, well it is cheaper in the SPFL than the EPL

We don't want this guy any where near our club. He is no better than Murray and probably worse. Any body that can employ Joe Kinnear and have faith in Alan Pardew, Sam Allardyce and Kevin Keegan is short of good judgement and look how he treated them. With the money he has invested, Newcastle should be top four every year

If he wants to buy Rangers, it is opportunity spotting and gambling that he can get us when the share price is low and sell later (say 10 years) for a profit.

This man has no more interest in Rangers than he does in Newcastle - Opportunist and not for us. {The Ed039's Note - Your post is spot on apart from Newcastle being a top 4 team every year)

Well I support both clubs, and I can tell you the guys the biggest joke owner ever. His whole 5 years have been a nightmare. The only club that deserve that clown is Celtic.

Read the article and there's no substance to at all in my own opinion. Just a rag trying to add fuel to a story with the Newcastle fans.

Is the Ramsden Cup draw live on TV. Would like a first div team for big time atmosphere

I cannot see this happening tbh. selling Newcastle will be hard enough as he has tried before and failed.

Ramsden Cup draw live on tv? Why on earth would it be? don't tell me that a global audience awaits,

Again with the sugar daddy patter, ffs is it that hard to run a self sustainable football club? You don't need Ashley, you need patience and a set of audited accounts out in the open to see what's going on and if needed take the necessary measures to correct them.

cup draw not on tv they can't get the camara crew into the shop

The draw is taking place from inside Ramsdens pawn shop in Clydebank shopping centre today! So if you get down there with your grannies jewellery then you may be able to see it live?!

He took a team regularly challenging for the league CL qualifiers etc and turned them into also rans.

Why would he want to do that for goodness sake, very deluded sir
