Whats you guys thoughts on Rangers holding open trails for players. Surely there are some of the fan base out there that can kick a ball a a good level. I'm sure many would jump at the chance to take a step up to being a professional and run through Walls for the club. Obviously the right age group would be required. Thoughts?

Believable20 Unbelievable39

Are you having a laugh, things aren't that bad Yet.

Agree0 Disagree0

You having a laugh open trials ? They already do that at under 7s level? So what your saying there is fans out there who could play for us , may as well sell Murray park then we don't need it. Oh and who agrees we should rename Murray park ASAP

Agree0 Disagree0

What about the "big house must stay open" guy. he would make a formidable back four

Grout

Agree0 Disagree0

Alan Urquhart - midfielder at Queens Park, captained Scottish Schoolboys u18s last year to international tournament win. Spiers refuses to play him and other promising youngsters, one of whom went to Kilmarnock. Alan is a big Gers fan - get him in for a trial.
Billy

Agree0 Disagree0

What kind of trails, you mean like an easter egg hunt?

Agree0 Disagree0

They would still need to be registered, and the ban is still in place, but even if it wasn't...

Agree0 Disagree0

The 9 in a row squad could come back for third division

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought I heard it but apparently not suppose it would really b the fans team though !!

Agree0 Disagree0

'The 9 in a row squad could come back for third division'

Yeh and the 9-in-a-row team could probably still skelp celtics ass! :-)

Or maybe Celtic could send some of their excess squad for some experience, seeing as they have about 102 players of which about 90 of them are never likely to play football again?! :-/

Agree0 Disagree0

Awnaw! "Rangers have talent competitions" now? Talk about desperation is it not about time we threw in the towel take a year out and come back as The Govan Bears next year starting from the bottom and confine Rangers to history. This is all too embarrassing now Brown was a terrible Idea this is just unbelievable.
Jim

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim leishmans nephew played in i could have been a player for gers not bad player only 22 not got a club

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha ha ha ha. thats the funniest thing iv ever came across. from the "great dane " to picking up lads at the local 5 aside park, just make sure you pay his tax this time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't you mean Trial, and the only trials you will see at Ibrox are when Minty and Whyte and the rest of the dodgers who have done this to your club are up in the High Court.

Agree0 Disagree0

Open Trials? - Sure, Glasgow Sheriff Court - coming soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it such an awful idea? Depends on what sort of level of player you attract of course but plenty players across Britain and indeed from further afield would certainly do a job in the first division and would certainly be interested in playing for a club the size of Rangers one would imagine. {Ed039's Note - journeymen for foreseeable future I am afraid)

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh how the mighty have fallen.
if concerned consortiums had acted in february when rangers entered administration, then you wouldnt be resorting to posts like this that woulda been laughed off a coupla years ago.
why doesnt the blue knights, walter smith, john brown and others just merge their offers and get the club out of this situation?
or is that too easy an option?
frankiebhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

We should set up trials at mp loads of youngers players would turn up would be worth a shout some guys would give their left arm to play for rangers

Agree0 Disagree0

Frankieboy, you can't ask the fans to buy the club three times over, that's the greatest flaw, each of them wants to control the club without having to dip into their on pockets

Agree0 Disagree0

We could have trials and charge people to play i reckon if everybody who went to manchester turned up with their boots ; at a tenner a go we would be out of liquidation quicker than our legends running down broomland road after reading the accounts get grip !!!

Agree0 Disagree0

look green has already stated it would take 20 million for him to walk away so if we as rangers fans want our club back thats what we have to raise instead of trying get it on the cheap stump up the cash then we will have our club simple

Believable16 Unbelievable14

That was before the team walked away n fans started refusing to renew season tickets. My worry is he could be stubborn and asset strip if he doesn't get support. We need to be careful what we are doing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry i cannot work this out,im a newcastle fan,but i keep a close eye on rangers, rite. . . . rangers are in a rite mess, but fans dont want this usa group, dont want green, come on,when your in this state you want anybody to help ???

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's say it's 20M or 30M or whatever. that's to buy Green out. Then what?

Where is the working capital to keep the club going?

I think the club has had it.

Agree0 Disagree0

We had have "help" before and look at how that ended up.

Agree0 Disagree0

£20m to buy out Green - another £30m to keep club going to end of season. Call it a couple of grand from each fan.

Yeah right.

Agree0 Disagree0

They only want Rangers men to help. Its not really their fault though because the newspapers wont admit how dire the situation is so the fans dont grasp it.

Agree0 Disagree0

The asset stripping value is 4.5 million, he will get 20 million in his dreams.

Agree0 Disagree0

We all know that Green is not here for the good of Rangers. But what can we do. Blue Knights, Smith consortium etc have all walked away.

Agree0 Disagree0

Simple - sell 3 years of season tickets to a firm like Ticketus!

Agree0 Disagree0

Raising a fans share issue of 6.5 million to buy Green out is not a lot of money.

Anorak.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anorak you are a person the op says £20m....... bombers crew offered £8.7m ( allegedly) and you spout off about raising £6.5 from a share issue not being a lot of money...do you actually read posts before commenting or do you just dive on to the computer when your dads out of the room...JohnnyG

SPL threaten breakaway second tier if clubs do not agree to Rangers plans

28 June 2012 17:30 BST

The Scottish Premier League could invite First Division teams to form an SPL2. Pic: ©SNS Group
The Scottish Premier League have warned they will form a breakaway second tier if plans to put Rangers in the First Division are not approved by clubs.

STV understands a number of sides in the Scottish Football League have been told they face being cut adrift from the top tier if they do not agree to proposals for league reconstruction.

The above is incredulous bully boy stuff from Doncaster and Regan. Doncaster does not speak for SPL clubs.
So he nor Regan can speak with authority on such an initiative.
SFL clubs are now coming out saying NO to Rangers and these two jokers come up with this threat. These two men should be run out of Scottish football with a motion of no confidence in them raised in both their organisations.

Believable37 Unbelievable21

This could be a lose-lose situation for Rangers.

Agree0 Disagree0

If the SFL clubs don't divide with some agreeing to spl2 and some being left out because they have sporting integrity. Then this blackmail has no chance of success.

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if anyone had any doubts, the veil has well and truly fallen now.
Out and out arm twisting of small clubs by our professional bodies to protect Rangers. Somebody call UEFA/ FIFA.

Agree0 Disagree0

The rangers should just apply for div1 more bridges to be built

Agree0 Disagree0

Now see if the spl clubs agree to this nonsense then quite clearly they all have no sporting integrity threatning a breakaway if rangers dont get in the 1st division disgraceful

Agree0 Disagree0

Because at the end of the day scottish football always has been, and always must be about the Old Firm rivalry.

All of the following would flop for the same reason:

The One Ronnie
The Ian Krankie show
Paladin the talking Lamp
Sooty & 'Matthews other hand'

Agree0 Disagree0

One of the options in the document to the SFL teams was termination/ suspension of Rangers. It stated there would be financial meltdown of the Scottish game. I really cannot believe that at all. It's lies.

Agree0 Disagree0

If the current SFL First division teams decide to oppose entry to Rangers as a newco what teams are you suggesting will make up the new SPL2?
The way I see it at the present time is that there are 42 senior teams in Scottish football however, there are 36 other teams outwith the SPL and SFL plus some teams in the East and South of Scotland Leagues who are also "full" members of the SFA who will possibly have the right to a vote on any new proposals. As a rule of thumb, all teams who play in the Scottish Cup are "full" members of the SFA with the exception of the recent change that allowed 4 Junior clubs to participate in the competition (Girvan by the way are the only junior side that has "full" membership status) all other junior clubs are associate members. As it stands any move will require the votes of 22 senior teams to vote for a Rangers newco to be admitted to the SFL which may not be as easy as it looks with some 1st division clubs already stating that they will vote against any such proposal.

Agree0 Disagree0

SPL can't do that without another vote!
Which would fail. Again.

Agree0 Disagree0

This isn't the SPL clubs forcing this it's the spl board and Doncaster.
The 42 SPL and SFL teams need to come out against this mafia.

Agree0 Disagree0

This forceful intimidating approach to get sporting teams to do something they don't want to do is the worst I've seen in any sport.
The SFL must be allowed to have their sporting integrity also without fear or favour.

Agree0 Disagree0

This, quite simply, is blackmail and extortion. Those who dreamed this up should remeber they are employees- not governors. This now shows the mask slipping and the ai is to protect Rangers. As a Partick Thistle fan I hope that the SFL teams hang together on this - if not then we shall all surely hang separately. UEFA and FIFA must now be getting involved at this ludicrous and undemocratic proposal.

Agree0 Disagree0

Blackmail. It just keeps getting worse. I'm a Jags fan, and along with many others can guarantee that if we go along with this I'll not be at Firhill again, nor any domestic game. No joke. Every fan I know, Rangers fans included. believes that a newco should start again in Div 3. Simple. Otherwise, good night but no good luck.

Agree0 Disagree0

The SFA/SPL document to the SFL states that the option of an spl2 wouldn't be good for the game and is not approved by the SFA. Therefore why are they threatening to bring in a strategy they know would be damaging to the game?
Answer: it's not about what's good for the game but what's good for rangers.

Agree0 Disagree0

I heard a rumour that a certain sports tv channel wants a clause in the deal for Rangers to be put into div 1 for one season with the hope of the return of old firm football after that? Lets get real here guys. Rangers, Celtic, Ross County, Hearts,...all other SPL, SFL teams, SFA, etc etch really have no say in today's world. Cos unfortunately, money has ruined football! And it will take one almighty catastrophe for that to change. So think we all have to get used to the idea, get wise, get real, stop blaming others, cos quite frankly even the powers that be's hands are tied in today's world of football! Way do much more gong on under the skin guys! So we shouldn't be arguing about the surface!

Agree0 Disagree0

Even celtic would probally want us back in the spl

Agree0 Disagree0

At the third replier- how is this being done to help rfc?? it is being done by spl chairmen who on one hand are trying to appease their fans demands for "sporting integrity" or as i see it fans bloodlust and jelousy of rfc, and on other hand do not want to go more than one year without our/rfc fans cash.more like wanting their cake and eating it. i for one dont want rfc in division 1 just to suit spl on their hopes of us winning promotion at first time of trying and then boosting their bank balances.no i want to go to division 3 and let spl get on with it.we can take the time out of the limelight and rebuild on a lower scale but i can say with confidence as we rise up we will meet most of current spl teams on their way down

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed I've read the proposal document sent to the SFL clubs by the SFA and I have to observe that it appears very small to medium enterprise material and not the kind of detailed corporate material I'm used to.
Ed, can you please advise what the 'settlement agreement' is? It is shown as being worth £2m.
I have to disagree with some of the assertions in the report, a lot of the positive bullet points such as play offs can be achieved anyway with Rangers in the third. Also pyramid system with Rangers in the third. I think the commercial benefits of Rangers are overstated and all benefits of rangers in the first are identical benefits to sfl3.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have been impartial with my posts But what do Rangers fans think of this? Seriously, it looks to us all down here that the SPL are now part of the backers for Rangers. This to me is clear and cut Blackmail. Football has been lost, integrity thrown away and replaced by a desire to ensure the money keeps flowing in. Do you Rangers fan's want to be in this position? Seen by many as backed by the SPL, rules disregarded, placed into a league not of your choosing on the back of " if you dont let them in, we will steel your clubs so they can compete and you can never achieve higher than you are now?" This stinks so much. If UEFA and FIFA are watching i expect them to step in. Shocking revelations and not in anybody's interest, especially Footballs. After all thats what its all about at the end of the day.    Good luck Gers.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is the other teams in the SPL trying to protect their tv money - nothing to do with them trying to protect Rangers - 95% of Rangers supporters think we should start again in Div 3

Agree0 Disagree0

As an (at the moment) ex-season ticket holder - I don't have faith in Green and don't believe in throwing good money after bad - I always believed that we should say "thanks guys, but we'll apply for Div 3 and accept the sanctions". That way we may retain some integrity and build some goodwill again with the other clubs. After all it was the people running the company that got us into this mess, not the club itself, nor the fans. I am, l of course, coming at this from a fans' perspective but understand - though don't agree with - the business men who want in at the highest level possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is just not on. It is simply blackmailing Clubs into allowing us into the second tier not through merit but fear. I do not want to go down this route; I would rather work our way back up from div3, or walk away.

Agree0 Disagree0

And there was me thinking that 'threats' were just part & parcel of scottish football - we've had enough of them from every quarter this past year!

bil72

Agree0 Disagree0

Embarrasing from the SPL and SFA.....Newco need to go to the third.

If not I along with thousands of fans I imagine will not watch a Scottish game of football ever again!

Agree0 Disagree0

Shona Robison, Scot Gov Sports Minister, clarified today that support will not be withdrawn from SFL if clubs reject proposals.

Agree0 Disagree0

@ "Answer: it's not about what's good for the game but what's good for Rangers."

Have you really thought through what you are claiming here? Is this move being pushed by or for the benefit of Rangers or by the remaining 'honesty and sporting integrity comes before all' SPL clubs to benefit themselves? Think about it.

How is it good for Rangers exactly? We don't have a strong enough squad currently capable of competing and challenging in the First Division (well we do have enough for two subs including a goalie at least as things stand). We are also unsure of Green's genuine financial viability or intentions for bringing further players into the squad to give us even a remote chance of being competitive following the exodus or even if the transfer ban will remain as a condition of entry.

The transfer ban possibly remaining would only be one of the sanctions faced by Rangers in the First Division/SPL as it has already been stated that this SPL2/Div1 option will only be pursued by the SPL if Rangers accept, without the right of appeal or legal action, any future sanctions related to the oldco (dual contracts etc) which certainly isn't what I would class as being beneficial to 'Sevco' in any way shape or form in the long term. Division 3, minus the toxic Rangers share, and sanctions and liability free as an ENTIRELY new club with no history would be the best platform for 'Sevco Rangers' to build from.

Regarding future sanctions I also happen to think the 'investigations' will be deliberately timed to coincide with or come into effect only upon an SPL return thus 'sevco' Rangers remaining uncompetitive for a further few years within the SPL (whilst aiding in financing it) which is what the clubs wanted initially before the fans had their say and the lower leagues became a genuine reality.

The SPL clubs (and I bet they ALL support Doncaster and Regan fully on this tact off the record - no push as far as I can see to get any of the SPL chairmen on the record decrying the 'bully boy' tactics employed or the real reason why the idea is being supported. I wonder why?) are pushing this to have Rangers only briefly out the SPL (there will also be a tie-in over First Division TV rights apparently - beneficial only to Rangers or everyone else also?) to appease their own supporters and maintain season ticket sales whilst ensuring the 'cash cow' that THEY see as Rangers remains hamstrung upon their return to the SPL.

It is definitely NOT what is good for Rangers over everyone and everything else as far as I can see. The SPL clubs are showing as much respect to the smaller, lower league teams as the Old Firm have been accused of showing the other SPL teams over the years - absolutely none. It is clearly do as I say or else. How morally just by the SPL chairmen, it is a shame none of them have the integrity to openly come out and say as much. I would at least respect their honesty if they did.

Stephen Pressley is right - this is the best opportunity we have had for genuine reconstruction and reform since the crooked manifestation of the SPL. It will be the SPL chairmen and clubs that blow this great chance, not Rangers, by enforcing an equally crooked SPL2 upon us.

Sporting integrity and honesty within ANY club in the SPL? You are either having a laugh or are completely naive. If you still believe it's for the benefit of Rangers then it is not only Rangers fans that can be accused of not seeing the big picture within Scottish football and burying their heads in the sand. This is a case of by the SPL, for the benefit of the SPL, in the name of Rangers. Only the gullible would see it as anything else.

Brian

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers are being made to look bad in this we would take division 3 and keep the sfl clubs in div1 happy there is no problem there it makes the sfl look stupid and we get the blame nothing against 1st divison teams they have their rights sad bear

Agree0 Disagree0

It is not Rangers fans fault they represent and generate such a large poportion of the income of Scottish Football.

Take a look at the average attendances and tell me Scottish football does not need Rangers, pure guff, of course they do.

Anorak

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers arent being made to look bad there is no rangers . a new club should meet the current rules requirement as any other club should . stick to the rules you know it makes sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

"It is not Rangers fans fault they represent and generate such a large poportion of the income of Scottish Football."
Have you not considered that if there had not been hundreds of buses leaving from all over Scotland to travel to Rangers and Celtic home games rather than these people going to watch their local team your point would be irrelevant.
Al

Agree0 Disagree0

@Anorak well why don,t you take your fans to div3-2-1 and enrich the smaller teams on your way up making those teams more competitive and scottish football as a whole?Because its about making sevco richer isn,t it?the 16 million loss will be from sevco,s bank balance thats what bothers your team.

Agree0 Disagree0

3rd division = extinction. Its as simple as that. I dont see anyone lining up to pump 20m into the club over the 3yr period just to keep the lights on. Rangers have massive overheads and im afraid it would mean only one thing. I dont want to go into the 1st so all the SPL teams can keep the sky contract going with the hope we get promoted. All the SPL boardrooms in scotland would be more interetsted in rangers score than their own next year. While my preference, like every Gers fan i know, is to take the punishment and work our way back up, I don't believe it can be done. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to pass some of our current SPL 'friends' on the way back up. That is those that are still in business as the product will be so bad that all revenues will plummet. I hope the Tic don't succumb to any of this restructure nonsense as its all about taking money and power away from the old firm. Vultures aren't invincible - they die just like any of us.

Agree0 Disagree0

The big Rangers money into divs 3-2 and 1 is exactly what Scottish football needs. Big crowds at lower league games. Some excitement for these home fans etc...
Honest football for footballs sake cleansing the rogue club... It's all good. The SPL not corrupted by the presence of the rogue club that skewered results.

Wolves looking at Whittaker (on their Rumours board apparently)

Believable15 Unbelievable7

Useless , lazy , never kicked on after our uefa run .... Why was he allowed to be on 25 k a week is anyone's guess ... Good riddance never had the bottle to stick around ... Good going forward .. Canny defend for toffee let them have him

The airport bear

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares, he's walked out on Rangers to make more money for himself rather than generate a transfer fee to help the club survive.

As far as I'm concerned I have no interest in any of them.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Wolves looking at Whittaker', hopefully after the wild horses hv dragged him away from anything connected to Rangers!? IMO one of the most over-rated Rangers players ever! 25k a week I will NEVER understand!? Very sub-standard player. Best of luck to him though. Will be interesting to see where he ends up and how he performs?! Jay

Agree0 Disagree0

At the rate Sevco players are leaving, they will need to put super Ally M on as a striker :) he could be player manager!

Why was Bomber Brown allowed to stand in the entrance to Ibrox (with doors opened behind him) to give his speech last night.

I can't understand why Green would allow this.

Anyone know?

Mac2.

Believable33 Unbelievable13

Doors was closed and he had four cops behind him

Agree0 Disagree0

Nobody of note was inside including Green.
Green has sold more than twelve season tickets for every guy there last night.
From the speach from the leader and the bigot songs from the assembled we can see that last night was the lunatic bigotted minority so often talked about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Freedom of speech i guess.....

Personally I wished he had not bothered, rabble rousing, asking to buy the club with supporters money, coming across all aggresive, I have seen many of these speeches in the past out side a pub on a Satuday night.....Bill

Agree0 Disagree0

Because green never show his face when the fans want answers

Agree0 Disagree0

I cannot understand why the police allowed it. The pavement on front of the entrance is Ibrox property.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he knew Brown would make an arse of himself and he wasn't wrong.

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you think would have happened if he hadnt A riot?

Agree0 Disagree0

Coz green wanted a laugh. Bomber worked for the people that put us in the mess now slates the only guy that put his money were his mouth is. It's time we stop being blue eyed and notice that in smith and bomber we dont trust anymore and if they care they should leave us all to move forward. They didn't want in when the bills needed paid and they just all led us up the path. Good bye and dont come back and let green do his job with his money

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm beginning to come round to the Green plan, especially after seeing Bomber in action.
Just a shame that when the dust settles and we're up and running again, none of the old players will be welcome at Ibrox after making such a public stand against the Green regime.
Think it's time we need to be thankful for what we have in Green and Malcolm Murray who I believe will be a fantastic chairman.
*****

Agree0 Disagree0

He was clearly breaching the peace. Why wasn't he arrested? Police officers were witnessing it!

Agree0 Disagree0

I can honestly say that this was the most embarrasing Scottish football moment I have ever witnessed. "We need tae dae something.....coz". Oh God!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Cos no one in the world would take seriously and no wonder !
The only thing missing was the string vest and bottle of Buckie in his pocket!
Is this the spokesman the fans want !
He might be rangers man through and through but no one will take h seriously

I think the major investors will turn out to be Goram and Gazza !

Wish you luck your going to need it

Briggies

Agree0 Disagree0

PR disaster for Bomber. Didn't name a single person putting in money from his group - in fact the only backer he mentioned was a Celtic fan who was no longer involved LOL. Was obviously steaming and looked like the latest charcter from a new series of RabC Nesbitt. Made Green look credible.

Oh and who from his consortum was the brains behind last night's speech? Might've been an idea to invest in a microphone for Bomber. On second thoughts the less he could be heard maybe the better!

Green must still be having a laugh about his performance!

Agree0 Disagree0

Give the man a bit of credit at least he loves the club fair dues to jb

Agree0 Disagree0

Bomber backed by Findlay. It would be like a throw-back to the 1950s, appealing only to the lowest element of the rangers support and Scottish society. Bomber should get back to his favourite Ashton Lane haunt and stop embarassing himself and the club.

Agree0 Disagree0

He certainly was embarrassing. He not only looked like a thug, he came across as a thug portraying everything about Glasgow Rangers and the city of Glasgow in a manner exactly the way decent fans of the club don't want. If John Brown is the face of the future for the sensible fans of Rangers then I'm afraid the future is indeed very bleak.

Agree0 Disagree0

An ordinary man standing in front of thousands for what he believes is best for the club he supports.not a business man or mp trained in speaking( and lying) Surely if he didn't have to step up he could have kept taking his wage as a scout.

Agree0 Disagree0

All of the posters above are obviously in denial, green is certainly not the right person for Rangers. Try getting your facts right before posting utter nonsense. WATP

Agree0 Disagree0

Bomber wants to be the head of the institution, mmmm.

NURSE !! NURSE !!

Anorak.

Agree0 Disagree0

John Brown doesn't drink so there is no chance that he was "steaming".

Agree0 Disagree0

His bit about if you put in £10 you will have a vote and if you put in £10m you will have a vote so me and my mate could outvote (puting in a£10 each) a guy put in £10m madness

Everton are among six clubs from England's top flight expressing an interest in signing Steven Naismith.

The Scotland forward is among the players who have rejected the move of their contract to the "newco" Rangers controlled by Charles Green.

Two overseas clubs are also showing an interest in the 25-year-old.

Believable8 Unbelievable8

Why the hell should any Rangers fan care what happens to these so called "fans" who walked out on the club when we need them.

They all know they'll get transfers, Rangers need to cut back the wage bill, so all they are doing is making sure any of the minimal transfer fee we would have got will now go to them.

I wouldn't urinate on any of them if they were on fire.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with last guy, these players could have stayed and been sold on for even £1m each to help the club that helped them reach their goals of winning trophies and playing international football. Am especially dissappointed in mccabe, ness, fleck and mcgregor, all guys that came up through the youth ranks

Agree0 Disagree0

Can I say am absalute raging at state of club mean we are a football giant n every 1 wants to severely put boot into us n the players who jumped poor poor show

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree with the lot of you,the rangers you watched is dead is no longer on this planet. The newco is a shambles,Broon and Sir wattie have made sure of that.If all you ex bears want the newco to survive you will have to back Green. You can always use your muscle in a few years, when you are stronger. The next problem is only weeks a way do you kill the newco? ,if so what next?.A new new co, a new co co,ffs use your brains, there has not been many grey cells used there for a good while.take your medicine back the newco go to the 3rd,and rise again.

I would like to ask fellow bear's what it is they want? Some sections of fans seen to the retraction of bill miller bid. Then when Walter came in it was "aww where wiz he when it mattered"So then a lot of folk on here were moaning that no one was taking a stand to speak up for the fans,so john brown now goes on television and is now giving us that voice, and there are once again folk dismissing him also.I'm confused to what you are looking for?I like every other fan am desperate for a resolution to this situation but it seem's some fans are shooting down everything before it has been given a chance.

Mark_rfc

Believable24 Unbelievable10

Browns performance was a disgrace and an embarassement

Agree0 Disagree0

None of it has come to anything. Chancers and vultures coming in for a pick at the skeleton. Bears are wary after Whyte and will be over cautious.

If a reall bonafide owner comes in - real money and strong reputation who is completely transparent with the fans you will find a different response.

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing is Mark, there are lot's of "Timposters" on here,so you don't really get a true picture.
There easy to spot,as none of them refer to Rangers. lol.
P.O.B.

Agree0 Disagree0

Great comment Mark, I cringed at some of the comments made about potential buyers, to me it seemed as though the fans were putting all their eggs into the one basket and hoping for someone that was never going to show..i.e a Russian or Middle East Billionaire. It would be nice but as long as we remain in Scotland they will forever be pipe dreams... ! As a Rangers fan I am desperate for this to end very soon. I want people who have the clubs best interest at heart running things. So what if these people have left it so late, they will have reasons I am sure. I would love to see the likes of Jim McColl, Douglas Park, Brian Kennedy, Paul Murray and Walter Smith take control. These guys are very well respected and I think 99.99% of the fans would be delighted to have them tie up some sort of deal. Together they can support the club financialy through the lower leagues until they are back into the SPL where they could launch shares etc similar to the "McCann" era at Celtic. The fans would also do their bit continuing to buy season tickets regardless of the league we are in. This wouldnt be a problem I feel as long as these people were completely open about their plans, I believe fully that the people I have listed would be open and communicate with the fans regularly. Come on guys, make this happen. The Club needs you. Offer Green £7M and a one way ticket back home. The players are talking with their feet, I dont believe any of them want to leave and if the men listed above do this I am sure almost all would offer their return. Mr Green seems to be the problem with the players.

Agree0 Disagree0

How about some concrete f**king clarity on what the plans are for the club and who exactly owns it!

Thats what the fans want, thats what the protest was about, Green has come up with nothing!
Hes taken the club into liquidation....who else couldnt have done the same? His plan for regeneration was based on OUR ticket money and selling off the players!
His backers we were told would have came in if it wasnt for the S/FA/PL etc putting sanctions in the club - christ he had that excuse in place before they were even made public when everyone KNEW there would be some form of punishment.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm afraid John Brown isn't part of the solution, he's part of the problem.

The image he's portraying of Rangers isn't going to help attract business money to Ibrox. In fact, his words more likely would only put people off.

Personally, I was ashamed by his swearing and talk about 'hunting down' Charles Green. He's making us bears sound like thugs and on a business level he said precisely nothing that suggested he had a clue about how to realistically save Rangers. Business acumen? Nope, just something about fans should own the club because they buy pies etc etc.

Sorry Bomber, by all means, try to help the club but you're just not cut out to be a spokesman, walk away and let someone else with more media savvy take over please, Richard Gough would be my suggestion. BB

Agree0 Disagree0

I think most fans just want someone to come and speak the truth. I don't believe that a saviour with millions of pounds to invest is going to appear. But if someone came and said 'this is whats happened, this is how we're going to solve it' or even 'Sorry guys the games a bogie, we're finished ' That would help, it's the not knowing thats so annoying.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree some want this and then when they do they don't
bombers performance was praised by some as they saw it in a sense he has spoken the truth and atleast he has done so unlike others who have said nothing
some wanted walter back and others were quick 2 dismiss as they put it " where were u walter months ago "
bill ng never got a chance , bill miller was hounded . green has divided the fans
where does it all end i think the fans r divided they don't even know
i know they want the best for the club but look above and see the trail of destruction , i'ts like the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing

Agree0 Disagree0

What do I want ? - a time machine back to 1986 to stop David Murray putting us on the road to ruin!

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not a rangers fan but I have been following this. I can understand why there is so much suspicion. It must be hard to be given hope and let down so often and so quickly. I daresay none of the rangers fans want to get their hopes up.

Agree0 Disagree0

You would have thought Brown could have at least stayed sober last night. I was mortified by the state of him and it seems it was mostly all the knuckle dragging neds that turned up. I was disappointed that there weren't a lot more respectable Rangers fans there then I realised it was probably because they knew it was only going to be a rabble. The police stood by and let people drink in the street and treating it like some 12th of July singsong. I actually left it rather sad, if this is what we are expected to pin our hopes on then I do honestly fear the worst.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why don't we all stick together and give green and co a chance and see what happens
give him to xmas then if everythings ok fine if not get him out
lets stop this cival war we are in enough s**t without fighting amongst ourselves

Agree0 Disagree0

I've noticed the large amount referring to "newco" instead of Rangers as well and to the poster above I thought Brown was not an embarassment at all I though Brown showed something you clearly know nothing about - Passion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Green was the only one who stepped up when it mattered. I hope he does make some money out of this once the club is owned by the fans. John Brown has three brain cells. For the fans that see business failures look again. There as as many successes as failures. If the money men you want to own the club have any interest in Rangers they would be investing. The blue knights can GTF. The players got paid today and as far as I'm aware Rangers paid their PAYE!

Oldco = Rangers
Newco = Sevco 5088

Previously Optimistic Bear, you are a good poster and I love your banter, especially on the Celtic site. But the Celtic fans you speak of who "can't write Rangers" are only being specific, as there are two entities. They are not the same. So it would be nice if you could conjure up the courage to be more specific, and write Newco or Sevco.

A raft of changes to the league setup have been drawn up by Scottish football's three top bodies which would involve Rangers playing in the First Division this season.

STV understands clubs have received a letter from Scottish FA chief executive Stewart Regan, following talks with his SPL and SFL counterparts Neil Doncaster and David Longmuir respectively.
True blue through and through

Believable7 Unbelievable22

"The Scottish Football League can confirm that no agreement has been reached between The SFL and any other body regarding the position of Rangers newco in the first division.

"Consultation will continue to take place, primarily with our clubs, as previously advised."

Need 22 out of 29 SFL teams to say yes to this as well. 4 already said no publicly, 4 more and it's game over for us.

This is Plan B we are now relying on, do we have a Plan C?

Agree0 Disagree0

Statement on SFL website which says SFL have not entered into negotiations with anybody re newco playing in 1st Division - they are quite properly consulting SFL clubs for their views

Agree0 Disagree0

This approach didn't work on the SPL clubs. It won't work on the SFL clubs who have no less sporting integrity than the SPL.
It's actually shameful on Scotland that the heads of the SFA SPL and SFL are liking leagues restructuring as a bribe with TV money to let rangers in the first. Truly shocking and they should hang their heads in shame.

Agree0 Disagree0

Never gonna happen, sfl clube need to vote - with only 7 saying no (3 have already).

Agree0 Disagree0

SFL offered £1million for ranger in the 1st div ? from SPL - money to burn

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers will not now, nor will they ever play in the 1st division due th the fact that they don't exist ..... fact!

Agree0 Disagree0

This is true but I still clicked on unbelievable

Agree0 Disagree0

Can all the clubs get together and propose a NO CONFIDENCE IN THE SFA motion its time they are kicked out. These are the custodians of our sport and they have been complicit in its humiliation and decay

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers will be in Div 1 next year, or SPL2 whichever dont matter.

Removing them completely or putting them into Div 3 will financially ruin Scottish Football, if you think about it without those tinted specs. How are Annan Athletic and the like going to afford policing and stewarding for thousands of Gers fans?

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that rangers should e omitted from the scottish league as the have gone into liquidation. its not fair on the smaller teams as they work really hard, and if they went into liquidation they wouldnt have a chance to start off in the 1st division!!

Agree0 Disagree0

"How are Annan Athletic and the like going to afford policing and stewarding for thousands of Gers fans?"
By making it all ticket and pricing the tickets such that the costs are covered. This is the worst reason I've heard for giving Sevco FC an easy route back into the SPL.

There was more bad news for Green’s cash-strapped Sevco 5088 last night when it emerged they will need to cough up at least £160,000 in order to join the SFA daily record

Believable19 Unbelievable3

So .....part of the business if they dont have the funds there out thier depths and should just go as this is nothing compared to cashflow over next 12 months

Agree0 Disagree0

Not an issue with the savings in 10 players salaries that just walked.

Agree0 Disagree0

What cash flow problems? We've been told there is working capital, we buy our season tickets then theres more cash, he has names his consortium, he's always looking for more investors, why not? at least he isnt doing what murray did and borrow cash without the intention of paying it back fully. Green isnt looking to get lenders, he wants investors. We've already been told that a fan share plan will be in place soon and for all these answers about who owns the title deeds to rfc assets all will be explained soon and the rfff have been given info which has been cascaded.

Agree0 Disagree0

The fans need to get behind Green FULLY before its too late and we fail to exist in ANY league setup. Its becoming pathetic with John Brown and Walter Smith turning up at the last minute urging fans NOT to support the club?? Vultures!!

Charles Green was the ONLY person who delivered, why the fans dont see this is beyond me, its gone past the stage of "rangers legends" and "rangers minded money men", Green, if he sticks to his words, will fan share in the next few years. Its time to step up and BE COUNTED!!

Reports suggesting McCoist was not at MP today as the players reported back. Regardless of what circumstances may surround this, I cannot understand why McCoist - as Manager - would not be there even to just greet the players after all the bad mouthing and veiled threats to any player choosing not to turn up today and/or transfer their contract to the newco.

The players criticise Green for lack of communication but to be fair, he has got one or two distractions and his first responsibility is to the shreholders. It is McCoist who is responsible for the footballing side!

Perhaps McCoist had to be in Stoke with his client Jamie Ness to conclude the youngster's transfer!

Only Day 1 of the "new era" and already I think McCoist has scored a major P.R. gaffe!

SPM

Believable19 Unbelievable18

Which shareholders?

If true, yes, I am surprised Ally wasn't there. Was anyone there to run the training?

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct. On numerous opportunities McCoist has shown poor leadership. Most leaders can instinctively know when and where a presence is required. He doesn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

McCoist has been communicating with the players all through this episode! There have been numerous times where the players stated that they had spoke to Ally or had met with him! He even interupted his holiday to deal with everything! Cut the guy some slack just cause he didn't turn up for the fitness evaluation at Auchenhowie! Think he's allowed to delegate responsibility to his coaches for that task!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally is on holiday with his family and is due back at "work" on Monday.
Today was only about being assessed for fitness. Calm down. Our manager will be back on Monday after a well deserved rest.

Agree0 Disagree0

He was not at training at all to day as he is on holiday in the highlands! i know this as he bought pies from my mates shop!

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on guys, McCoist not being at MP on the first day of training is that big a deal?

I'm sure he wasn't at home with his feet up.

Not an normal build-up to a season for any football club, he will have been dealing with other matters.

Agree0 Disagree0

How many weeks has McCoist had to have a holiday with his family since the season ended?

Re: last poster...you're missing the point. There is a principal at stake. And for me, McCoist should have been at MP today....

Agree0 Disagree0

Ally returned home early from a previous holiday. He is entitled to a holiday like everyone else. Give him a break!

Agree0 Disagree0

McCoist seen in the north edition of Press & Journal on holiday in Kinlochbervie of all places

Agree0 Disagree0

Jesus, mccoist has had to endure criticism from other peoples mistakes, he has had to be the spokesman for rangers even though he didn't know what was happening and this was happening all year. Give him a break, he could've walked ages ago but he has stayed with us and deserves some respect and a holiday. Plus Kenny McDowell took the fitness training sessions.

Agree0 Disagree0

He'll have plenty of garden leave coming up soon.

bbc reports today that Rangers to go to div 1 .spl to buy Rangers tv rights for £1 mill
play offs between top teams in div 1. Dundee promoted this year.

Believable12 Unbelievable20

No Chance. This needs a 75% vote from the SFL clubs to happen.8 against and the plan fails.Already 4 saying no so just another 4 out of 26(and their fans are telling them to vote no)and that's it.
We should have just said sorry and agreed to playing in Div3 and we might have been OK.Since administration we've done nothing to improve our situation and with threats from McCoist,Jardine,Brown last night, refusing to pay other SPL clubs monies owed,we've actually made things worse.
We shout "No one likes us,we don't care".Well, right now,no one likes us and I'm sorry to say we may be about to find this out and have no league to play in next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a proposal at this stage. Needs to be agreed by SFL clubs. D2 & D3 clubs won't accept it because all the sweeteners go to the D1 clubs only, so nothing in it for them. 4 clubs have already said no to SFL entry, another 4 and the proposal will be acacemic as Newco won't have any league to get into.

Agree0 Disagree0

As a gers fan i canny believe so many people seem to forget its only fitba! once every team gets this {u cant make money in football} my team included. we have teams living outwith their means, murray was skint and out of him saying for every 5er they spend we will spend a tenner! he chose the ebt scheme what kicked off all this debacle, i for 1 am ashamed ,not for being a ger but for murray and his actions ,an we would not be where we are today if only 1 man had said he was skint he wouldnt have hurt so many.

Agree0 Disagree0

Rangers newco's acceptance into the Scottish FA would only be approved if they accept responsibility for the football debts and fines incurred by the previous club along with their waiving of rights to a legal challenge.
Will Green push the newco into administration?
Where's he going to get the investment from for debts and fines?
How much are the debts and fines going to be?
Who else will take on this monumental task and be prepared to pay Green and Whyte rent, to play at Ibrox?

Agree0 Disagree0

SFL website says no negotiations with anybody re newco entry to SFL1 - they are consulting the SFL clubs

Agree0 Disagree0

So much for sporting integrity!

Can't see it happening. Punters of other clubs would be even more livid than before-boycotts that you wouldn't believe.

Also, it would entail Green operating a football club, rather than selling the assets to e.g. The Ontario Teachers Pension Fund. No assets- no credit-no club!

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like the season ticket money collected so far will be paying the fines. Great!

Good Day Fellow Bears……

Good god almighty! Just when you think that things cant get any worse than they already are. What worries me is, big John Brown seems to know something, and he wants Green to come out and spill the beans, I must admit I have had a horrible niggling feeling about one of Craig Sh***s last comments, Quote: I will be Rangers saviour!! God forbid.

I normally don’t set any store with what the gutter press put out, however you cant help but wonder why all these so called money (rich) Rangers fans cant get there act together, work together, I don’t have that kind of money I am afraid however what I do have is a love for my club, I don’t care what the tic or anyone else says come to that but it just tears me apart to see what’s going on and no one is making a serious play to stop it. It’s been said that the vultures are circling, I believe the vultures are sitting around the table….

To the players who are jumping ship well I suppose good luck, however there are a number who should hang there heads, they have short memories, its all about them, never mind we will come through this terrible episode, just want it all done and dusted so we can get on with the real tasks of rebuilding from the ground up.

IF THERE ARE ANY SERIOUS RANGERS MINDED MONEY MEN OUT THERE READING THIS, DO THE RIGHT THING…. Before it’s to late.

Believable20 Unbelievable21

We have to ask what did Bill Miller see in the Ibrox books that made him scarper pronto?

Why did the Late Knights walk away without too much fuss after their 11th hour bid?

Why are Zeus Capital, who really do possess serious business capital, so reluctant to give real backing to their man Charles Green?

Can't say I hold out any hope for the Brown consortium. Loved the guy as a player but any business group that thinks he's the ideal spokesman to attract more money men to Ibrox is lacking credibility. In fact, although I believe he's trying his 100% best to help out, listening to Bomber last night I thought he'd likely do a lot more harm than good. To be honest, I was embarrassed by his performance. BB

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree. It's hard to sit and watch all the news about the money men window shopping. There must be fans out there with serious cash who are willing to take this club by the scruff of the neck and take it forward. The Blue Knights, Brian Kennedy, Douglas Park, Jim McColl and so on could head up a force never to be messed with. These guys could throw their loose change at this club and give us something to smile about again. If the fans knew this and exacly what was happening and what the plans were we would support the new owners by purchasing season tickets even if they were at previous prices even if we were in SFL divison 3. I recall the story about Donald Trump showing interest due to his business involvements in Scotland with the building of the golf course up in Aberdeen. He said he wouldn't commit due to incificient documentation regarding our debts etc.. D&F should have had this all prepared or at least should have done when he came knocking.
Come on, some one or some group make yourselves immediate legends by taking this club out of its darkest ever days.
Millions of fans are hopefull.

Agree0 Disagree0

D&P, were way out of order rejecting walter smiths offer along with John McColl and douglas park, they are the only true people who have a realy love for the club and didn't want to see it die. D&P said we needed to save £4million but yet their bill was £5.5million

Agree0 Disagree0

My fellows bears, we stand at a cross roads between existance and being no more than a memory. Without a steady hand we die. With infighting we die. If we listen to those that want instability because they think that yet again they will line their own pockets we will die. We have no choice but to trust Green.

p.s. Do you really think that such a rediculious little hard man that is so unappologetic would get the support of anyone in the scottish game to get back into any of its leagues. I for one will not support anyone linked to the old regime, they let us down. and that includes the scouts that bought so many donkeys. I always think before we buy new players the scouts need dealt with.

Why did the Late Knights walk away without too much fuss after their 11th hour bid?

Why are Zeus Capital, who really do possess serious business capital, so reluctant to give real backing to their man Charles Green?

Miller saw the potential hole of £30m needed to rebuild. That was assuming CVA accepted, playing in Europe and SPL membership. As those have all fallen by wayside, that £30m hole is now nearer £100m over the next 3-4 years.

Blue Knights were never actually here, they bid once and were knocked back. They just kept repeating the same offer and changed the front men.

Zeus Capital are being paid to advise Green, nothing more. They aint daft enough to invest in something so high risk with no return.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bearitwell is succinct in his judgement. We have little choice but to support Charles Green's consortium 100%. Last nights televised rantings by John Brown illustrates that, otherwise, the barbarians are quite literally at our door.
Working finance IS in place - particularly on such a reduced wage bill - and we can easily see out a season in the 1st division if we all stick together.

Agree0 Disagree0

No need to exagerate its bad enough, Bill Miller never bid for a CVA, he was only newco. He correctly estimated a figure of 30 million was needed to bankroll 3 years of losses. Remember his concerns, the attitude of the fans and further footballing sanctions, this guy was no fool.

Now ask yourself this, why did he feel Rangers was not worth investing 30 million ?

Look at Celtic's successful business model and profits, its at best a marginal market place.

Jamie Ness is expected to join Stoke City on a four-year deal after rejecting a move to the Rangers newco.

The English club will have to apply for an international transfer certificate which the Scottish FA will be asked to grant.

But it is entirely possible Green will attempt to block this request at which point the player's lawyers could seek judicial review or ask Fifa to become involved.

Ness's proposed transfer could therefore set a precedent for the other players who have turned down a move to the Rangers newco.

Are we still intitled some sort of cash because came through the ranks at murray park ?

Agree0 Disagree0

Green will not take legal action. I know for a fact that Green's legal team have told him that his players are legally entitled to leave and join new clubs. He has chosen not to go public with this and instead issue threats in an attempt to coerce and pressurise the players into transferring. It was simply a bluff which has been called and in the process severely damaged the business plan.
