The evening times: Dean Shiels, The Northern Irish midfielder is a free agent after his deal with Kilmarnock concluded at the end of the season and it is believed that Ibrox boss Ally McCoist has offered him a £7,000 a week contract.
However, the player's father, Killie boss Kenny, last night revealed offers from Germany, Spain and Holland could also sway the player.
As Shiels swithers over the move, his father is reluctant to offer any advice, believing that his son himself must decide which was his future lies since it is the biggest move of his career. "It is a really abnormal situation because Rangers in the Third Division is not something that you would ever have imagined," said the Killie manager.
"I think ultimately Dean has to come to a decision which is the best one for him as a footballer, but that is something he has to choose for himself.
"He is 27 now and he knows himself what is for the best.
"I don't think he needs me to stick my oar in. He is at an age where this is a massive move because he is coming into the peak of his career and he has to decide himself which is the right path to take.
"There is interest in him from other clubs so there is a decision to be made, but only he can make it. He is mulling it over now."
Last season Shiels was shortlisted for the SPFA Players' Player of the Year award after an impressive campaign at Rugby Park in which he helped Kilmarnock to win the League Cup.
The player's consistency has been remarkable given that he is blind in his right eye after a childhood accident.
As McCoist seeks to build a Rangers side capable of taking the club on the long journey from the Third Division back to the top flight, Shiels is one of a clutch of players whom the Ibrox side have targeted.
But it remains to be seen whether or not the player takes up the offer.
"I really don't know which way it will go," said his father.
"There is a lot for him to take on board and it is important that he gives it careful consideration. Rangers in Division Three is a strange one to get your head around and the whole summer has been a bit surreal in that regard.
"So far Dean hasn't intimated what he might do but he has to make a decision purely on football matters and what he thinks is the right move for him at this stage of his career."
Personaly I think 7k iis to much for this guy 3.5k tops that would be more than double he was on at killie pies! *ksd*

Over £300000 per annum if correct "newco" in administration within 6 months. What a lot of nonsense.

I agree, a ridiculous wage for the 3rd - £1000 - £2000 per week max and even at that it would be more than any other team in the 3rd could hope to afford

How much longer can this go on for its it's 2 days until we play our first game and yet we still don't have a licence this is just a total farce what would happen if it's not given in time would we be kicked out of the competition or would it be postponed but how much will that cost to change policing and other things it is a total joke

I feel sorry for Brechin FC who must be committing money they can ill afford in case the game goes ahead. This delay is also disrupting the lives of all those associated with the match--not just the fans. It is an absolute farce but you can bet your bottom dollar that if it was the mighty Rangers waiting on whims of officials to decide yes or no for a wee club like Brechin this would be fixed in a minute. Hope Brechin sue everyone sitting round that table in Hampden.

Seems to me they will leave it until the last possible minute to come to an agreement. That way we can't sign anyone in time for the weekend. They will do anything in an attempt to do us over.

If green folds, then it will be the final nail in the coffin because ally will leave kicking and screaming and where will that leave green, answer.. even further away from the supporters than he is now if thats possible..... green must go if he accepts sanctions......fact.

What do you mean old RFC membership? Is that company not in the process of liquidation and saddled with un-managable debt? This is all so confusing... Does this mean (if true ofcourse) that no Rangers in any form will be playing in a few days?

we have no team no money and people are on here spouting nonsense about if green accepts punishments he must go.
lets get real here.. we need to get licence ..to play..to enable us to bring in some cash and to make us slightly appealing to any players who wish to come to us.
Frankly it beggars belief that our club is on its knees and you still get halfwits spouting drivel that 3 days until our first fixture green has to walk away and make us even more of a joke

Agree0

They do not necessarily want to take titles off you. Just to carry out the investigation. Obviously if you are found guilty then you will be punished. I'm not being funny but I do not understand what part of this people do not understand. If you are not guilty then nothing will happen. Ally's outburst smacks of ignorance and a sign of guilt. I actually feel sorry for your supporters. You just want to watch your team play and get your licence sorted. If Green is not agreeing to the investigation because of Ally's outburst he is not strong enough to run your great club. He should simply tell ally that it has to be done.

Zzzzzzzzz that you boring us with history that was won by cheating again ! You have no history now.

Some folk aren't getting it. The membership transfer is only being contemplated by the SFA because Rangers wouldn't qualify to apply as a new club. The transfer in itself requires the rules to be bent because the oldco have announced they will never file last years accounts meaning their licence really ought to be terminated anyway. The SFA is acting in self interest by allowing Rangers in as it cant afford to drive away so many fans. Equally however it is actually lending a favour as lets be honest, this wasnt available to the likes of Gretna. Transferring the membership does however mean that some responsiblity would need to be taken for past RFC rulebreaking so to think otherwise or think its a conspiricy really looks daft, as is all the talk of further punishment. Time to realise there is a differecne between consequence which can be punishing, and punishment itself. The Rangers we know went bust owing between £55m and £136m. Its really a bit much to say we're dumping the debts and you cant touch us as we're new, then say we want our hisotry through a membership transfer but in the same breath say no punishment please, we're new, then again lets stuff the others for putting us in the 3rd. There's a fair few contadictions there. Personally, I think we need to quickly accept the realities and get on with the bsiness of moving on. As for Green caving in, has anyone thought how ludicrous McCoist sounded when he said he wouldnt accept trophy stripping? Its like going to court accused of murder and saying to the Judge, "before we start I wont hear of any custodial sentence for this. Right, now you can carry on" Life isnt like that. IF guilty, its inevitable the trophies will need to go, and Green would be wrong to try to subvert that. It will only stain the club further.
Agree2
Disagree0
Having titles stripped if found guilty of cheating is not a punishment!
Imagine you steal some cars, and merely have to give them back? if thats the only consequence its a pretty good deal!
Agree1

The delay is sneaky Lawell, insisting on taking Rangers titles away, Mcoist has stated he will never agree to this. If Green gives in to this Mcoist will walk and most fans will do the same,

Let's get real fellow bears, if it's down to either sanctions or football I'm for the football, history is in the past.
What's with the 'if Green accepts the investigation that's the last straw' stuff? We are not members of the SPL and have no say whether or not they have an investigation - make no mistake it will happen! What bothers me is giving up the democratic right to appeal
Agree0
Disagree0
Mccoist is only sticking around because he would look daft after coming up with we dont do walking away stunt.but he will now use the fall out with green (once he backs down)to run out there as fast as he can because there is no way he will last at least another 3 years
Agree0

Marseille didn't have their European cup title taken off them and they were found guilty of match fixing.
There's therefore no precedence for stripping titles.
Anyway, you can 't rewrite history and reinvent victories for other teams. Rangers' players won these titles and cups fairly and squarely. This we know because we were there and have the videos.
Agree0
Disagree0
I don't know which ones were put up on the SFL website first but if you click on the link to the "updated" fixture list it states Sun 29th, Brechin City vs Rangers (NOT Sevco, The Rangers, or any other derivative which has proven so popular to many on here). Guess we will just have to wait and see as usual.

Why are some morons on this site still blaming everybody from the SFA to Peter Lawell and Celtic to the SPL and SFL and Hearts and Dundee Utd and even Charles Green for what has happened to us! We cheated, we dodged tax and we lied to win titles and only SDM is to blame for what has happened. We should be lucky we have got a team to support. Now get real and get behind the new Rangers or sit and fester while blaming all and sundry.

To those that are stating there is no game on Sunday , why is it that I can bet on Rangers beating Brechin at odds of 2/7 ? This info can be found on most bookmaker sites. (my source was bet365) Stop the negatives - get behind the gers !

Juventus did get stripped of their titles and that was for match fixing, they were awarded to second place. The only other instance of dual contracts was with Melbourne Spirit, also got titles stripped but those were declared null and void i.e. Celtic dont get them.
Fifa would have had a very close eye on both cases. I wonder if there would be such a interest from a certain quarter of posters to this site to exorcise Rangers if most of them knew the most probibile punishment.
Lets have the investigation, we all know SDM and directors abused the system. But i hope its independant and ask why the spl DID NOT question the obscene amounts of £ being payed to players tax free as was stated in Rangers accounts in the first place. ffs spl havent noticed for 11 YEARS!.

Lads stop now. You are taking the word delusional to a whole new level. No one will sign get it? The club is dead. Green has been left with a cash sapping corpse with no licence and nowhere to play. Hasn't this sunk in yet? Charles Green has no money. Your top earners, if you make it past Sunday, will be on 900 quid per week. I'm not trying to be an arse but rangers fans are just annoying me now. I enjoy the banter on here and can understand the need by many to talk things football, like, signing players but for god's sake wake up man. Ally is not a hero. His posturing and actions will cost you ultimately. He is the classic cover for Green who will just sit back let it go tits up them with Ally's help convince you it was the SFA/SPLs fault. Then he will punt the assets at a decent profit and get on with his life unhindered just like Whyte. History will show that the "we are the people" mentality killed you in the end. I wish you well as I enjoyed our rivalry and would be sad to see it go but i fear it was too late months ago never mind with 2 days to go. God speed. JP Kilmarnock.
