Phillipe Senderos set to sign a 2 year deal with Rangers tomorrow in time to face Kilmarnock on Friday.

24 Aug 2016 23:23:13
Oh I hope no.

25 Aug 2016 08:55:40
R4NG3R5 I wish people would stop being so negative.
Give me a list of viable alternatives?

We don't have money to spend, we are running at a loss, we need to accept that fact on stop dreaming of Murray's Moonbeams!

Live within our means!

25 Aug 2016 09:13:05
We all know that the central defenders are struggling big time to cope with the SPL. Whether Senders is a success or not only time will tell but for me he just cannot be any worse than Kiernan!

25 Aug 2016 09:57:01
There is a player in kiernan and Wilson, I thought both at times have been great, but they are too lightweight and inconsistent so hopefully senderos is the answer.

25 Aug 2016 10:01:45
Why are people so against Senderos? he played in the Swiss Super League for a few months before training with us, at a team that finished 4th in their league. now some may disagree but the Swiss league is better than the Scottish League (Compare both countries clubs in Europe the Swiss are better) so if Senderos can cut it at that level surely he is good enough for us?

25 Aug 2016 10:34:57
People are against Senderos because they are still so deluded into thinking we can go out and spend £3m on a cb no problem.

We have went from Mohsni and Cribari to an ex Arsenal and Milan cb yet some people have the audacity to come on here and slate the guy.

Hes made the effort to come here on trial (which a lot of players with an ego wouldn't do) and prove he is worth a deal. So wind your neck in and stop embaressing yourself.

This is the market we operate in for the forseeable future and I for one am happy about this. For too long we have over spent on average players. Now we target the very best free agents or wage structure will allow and if that means we get used as a stepping stone by bigger names then so be it. Anything to bring the best possibly available to our club.

25 Aug 2016 11:00:00
I don't think either Wilson or Kiernan deserve the critisism they receive tbh. They system we play leaves them both badly exposed. I hope we stick with them as a partnership, RK was solid against Celtic and DW distribution from the back is class. Both at a great age for CBs with plenty of improvement left in them.

25 Aug 2016 10:47:40
i don't know enough about the guy just that he is injury prone I hope he does well and stays fit i'd still rather have got bougy back the guy would play for us for next to nothing!
plus he is proven at spl level and plays with heart and is a good passer of the ball.

25 Aug 2016 11:21:22
Well said blue_stu89. I'd happily take senderos. Guys had years of playing at the top level. More than Wilson and keirnan put together! I can understand where people have got doubts about fitness etc but commenting on the guys ability. He has been up against some of the best strikers in world. I'm Sure griffiths, Rooney, and whoever else are certainly no in the same league as who he's been up against in the past.

25 Aug 2016 11:23:45
If someone said at the start of the transfer window we would have Senderos, Barton and Kranjcar in I would have told them to lay off the sauce. The management and board have done exceptionally well in getting players of their experience and quality in to help and guide te you get guys. Kiernan and Wilson will learn a lot from playing with Senderos, and they both need it especially Keirnan.
Wilson and Senderos could be a great partnership imo.

25 Aug 2016 11:38:28
Senderos has a fantastic CV and still has the legs at 31 to be a very good player for us.
I am of the opinion (like Warbs) that Wilson and Kieran are good players maybe just not playing together, so either with Senderos might just be the perfect fix.
Like another poster said Senderos has shown an appetite to prove himself despite his great CV and his mentality will fit in with rest of squad.
Garner and Senderos will both be very good additions, onwards and upwards. Top of the League 🏆🔴⚪️🔵.

25 Aug 2016 12:11:45
How much for Sergio Ramos anyway?

25 Aug 2016 12:20:27
We still have clint hill too but hasn't had a run of games. Thought him and gilks bring a bit of composure at the back.

25 Aug 2016 13:36:38
Danny wilsons distribution has been shocking. he constantly hits the diagonal ball and very rarely picks out a blue jersey.

25 Aug 2016 14:13:46
Really poor signing.

25 Aug 2016 14:24:02
Love how fans that don't want senderos are negative.

Yet the same people slate Wilson and Kiernan- is that not being negative?

Admittedly Kiernan has been shaky recently but no wonder when so many fans slate him and declare than 'anyone' could do a better job. Now that is negative.

Some fans have the sense to realise our tactics leave our central defenders exposed, often very high up the pitch. It takes a very assured defender not to look shaky when you defend like that.

For me we as a team need to work harder on training ground rather than blaming individuals. Win as a team, lose as a team. Attack as a team and defend as a team. Much more work needed on defensive side of our game. Particularly on defending pong ball and crosses.

Signing someone like senderos is a desperate move and reminds me of how coisty tried to deal with problems.

25 Aug 2016 14:48:37
It's just really hard to please most of the fans nowadays. No doubt if we got Sergio ramos they'd still find a way to slate him. Senderos may be injury prone but is a solid cb that's played in some of the best leagues. I'd happily take him.
Look at it like this, a few seasons ago we had mcculloch and cribari. Now we have a chance of having kiernan and senderos, that's a big damn improvement.

25 Aug 2016 16:20:25
why, if senderos is so good, did we not snap him up during his trial?

Why did manager drop everything to try and sign lescott instead?

Why have we not snapped him up now lescott deal is dead?

Is it because MW himself has doubts?

25 Aug 2016 17:14:44
cant believe I've just read on here wilsons distrubution is class he hits 1 good 40yd pass out of 5 if anybody is against senderos signing please pipe up with a realistic option he must be impressing in training or he wouldn't be invited back i don't believe warbs will sign him just for the sake of it that's wasting a wage end of the day there will no b no mad rush on senderos's part he's a free agent transfer window means hee haw to him.

25 Aug 2016 19:59:30
The guy has been on trial for a week or 2 the management have seen enough to give him a deal. if he is fit he is a player worth a couple of mill from what I can remember. Everyone wanted new centre half which we got. Give the guy a break.

25 Aug 2016 22:19:48
Quite right DeanM1872 can't believe the negativity toward Senderos. He's obviously not at the level he was when playing with Arsenal etc, if he was we would be nowhere near signing him. He's came up here on trial because he wants the chance to prove himself and play with the Rangers. At least give the guy a chance. If it doesn't work out what have we got? a seasoned international player, 31 years old, ex Arsenal, AC Milan, Valencia, 57 caps and three world cups, there to help the younger guys in the team. Not a bad deal IMO.

25 Aug 2016 22:21:17
Recbob well stated! Our summer transfer business has been outstanding! Names like like Barton, kranjcar and senderos playing at our great club once again is a great thing to c! I would be more worried if we were spending 3 or 4 million here, there and everywhere! Our club has lacked a proper scouting system for years now resulting in us missing guys like rosier and dodo too many times in the past! No longer the case so y can't we b happy about that.

25 Aug 2016 23:02:56
Jaym i think ramos would struggle up here. slow as a week in the jail mate and he's been done for years. hehe.

26 Aug 2016 07:41:59
I'm still not convinced that senderos will be able to stay injury free for 2 games in a row.

24 Aug 2016 18:04:47
MW has suggested that there are possibly two signings coming in - anyone any idea who they might be?

24 Aug 2016 21:19:02
Phillipe and senderos.

24 Aug 2016 22:54:37
Never heard him say 2 signings.

24 Aug 2016 23:24:51
He never said two signings!

25 Aug 2016 05:12:37
Senderos and marriapa
Fingers crossed
That's a centre half pairing
Can't see it happening though.

25 Aug 2016 09:57:42
He said were done when we get a centre half.

24 Aug 2016 21:48:48
Do you mean Phillipe Mexes who is aged 34? If so that would mean we would be carrying an awful lot of players over thirty, in fact we could almost make a team with them.

24 Aug 2016 21:52:25
Age wise and experience within the team Abbott and Costello maybe.

24 Aug 2016 22:48:56
Wee johnny smith, and Archie broon?
Tommy.

24 Aug 2016 20:52:44
I definitely think we will spend money on a CB before next week as I think if we can spend to bring in garner then there must be funds for a decent CB it will make no sense if we are top heavy everybody and there dog knows we need a CB soon.

24 Aug 2016 21:59:27
Senderos deal will (hopefully) be concluded soon, Crooks is back after featuring in 20s match last night that should help at the back for now.
If any1 of interest becomes available on loan at end of transfer window we may act but squad looks good. Only position we are a little light is full back with only Hodson for back up, I know he can play both sides but any injury to the 3 and we have no back up.

24 Aug 2016 22:57:07
2 priorities required after last season. a dominant centre back and a plan B striker with a physical presence. We have yet to buy either and the clock is ticking.

24 Aug 2016 23:54:28
Ally, I believe garner is hopefully the answer to your second problem there mate.

25 Aug 2016 00:10:29
What do you call garner.

25 Aug 2016 08:58:51
Garner is as physical as Kenny Miller, he is a nuisance player, not about to dominate any 6ft 4 defenders in the air, and as we don't play long balls, that would be inadequate anyway.

As for spending money on a CB. why spend money that we don't actually have? Or are you looking for the return of Murrays Moonbeams?
Live within our means is the new order and to be honest if that means playing 2nd fiddle until we are in a position to pay fees again, so be it, I would rather finish 2nd than not at all.

25 Aug 2016 09:04:07
Garner is 5 foot 10 and about 9st lol😁 hardly a big physical presence.

25 Aug 2016 11:21:53
got to spend money to make money in this instance.
if we don't get va quick solid cb for me we will be found wanting in the big games.
if we do spend something on a cb we may be rewarded with champions league football rangers need to get to the group stages of the champions league to get back to the level of player we are used to.

25 Aug 2016 14:10:01
How can you disagree the guys official page has him at 5 foot 10 weighing 9 stone 7 it's fact nothing to disagree with here, move along .

25 Aug 2016 14:31:05
Some people struggle with facts fabadabadoo. Unwelcome reminder of reality.

24 Aug 2016 18:10:43
